My problem is still that defence. Apart from Yobo l'm not aware of another reliable defender there. I don't have enough confidence in Echiejile and Ambrose. I still prefer Taiwo. Shittu is a fighter, highly committed with great work rate but I don't know his current fitness level. Apart from defence, I'm ok with other departments. We won't miss Martins, although he is more threat to defenders than our center forwards of Emenike and Ideye . Osaze would have been a quality addition but we can't afford rows in team this time, which may be inevitable if he makes the team. Our real weak link remains defence. |

1, Mallam Faruk Lawan: The once respected member of the lower chamber was expectedly a recurring nominee for this unenviable category. From the height of reverence in Nigeria's political firmament, the Kano man fell to the nadir of humiliation. Or how else can one describe the $620,000 bribery scandal that had the man at the centre? 2, President Goodluck Jonathan: The current holder of the 'dishonour' title appears set to retain it, as Nairalanders still dont appear convinced that he has done anything. 3, Prof. Chinua Achebe: The world renowned literary giant was an inch close to winning to 'Fame' category just last year for rejecting the national honour from Federal Government. But how tide turns? Nairalanders consider the octogenerian a candidate for the shame version this year, for, according to them, opening a pandora box that portends disunity for Nigeria. Who wears the thorn-crown? I no know o December 28 is the date. |

1, PASTOR TUNDE BAKARE: The Ogun state born pentecostal pastor was a strong opposition voice in 2012. He continued from where he stopped in 2011 as a social critic. The former presidential running mate was very active in the OccupyNigeria anti-subsidy removal protests of January 2012. 2. PROFESSOR BARTH NNAJI Nigerians are ultra critical of their governments and government officers. But one officer stood out and caught the admiration of not a few Nigerians in this period when the citizens are hopelessly caustic against their leaders. He is Professor Barth Nnaji, the immediate past minister of power. Although some issues that bordered on conflict of interest saw his exit from the position, he appears to have made enough goodwill for himself. 3, OCCUPYNIGERIA PROTESTERS It started like a joke, slicing through the social media. From twitter to facebook to BBM, the citizens spat fire, threatening to bring the country to standstill starting from January 5 2012 unless the FGN reversed the removal of subsidy on subsidized petroleum prodicts. And they did. Tagged OccupyNigeria, Nigeria witnessed what was perhaps unprecedented in recent history of the country. They got partial results. Are these protesters our inductee-in-waiting? Or the indefatigable Pastor? Or the power man? Ladies and gentlemen, the ball is in your court! |

cool318: Feel free to share your experience, mine was a Sadist Boss in P.H who is into HSE, we slept in the same Hotel room when we went to Lagos for training, gives 2,000 as allowance from Mon-Friday, i make millions for him, no appreciation, after he crowns it with a 24 hrs ABC night bus from Lagos to Ph. We will soon put advert because i have left him. Horrible man.You can say this because you have left. I don't expect anyone to use this kind of language on his current employer/boss in an online forum here. |
b03liberty: O.O....,Dull studentLol at 2 to beat 1. Naija students are crazy ![]() |
Trecixnine: This is for Oba Awon Universities (OAU) in the 90s, especially for the Awoite:Antibarber. lol Nostalgia |
Thought this was a straight fight between Drogba and kKatongo . When Katongo didnt make final list, thought Drogba would have an easy ride. Never imagined Yaya could retain it. But on a more critical look I think he deserved it. He was very consistent. Plus he was CIV's best player in ANC . Congrats |
Teenage Money: This year’s Glo CAF Awards is coming off tonight at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra. Other than the prestigious African Player of the Year award, there is going to be presentation of awards in the following categories; |
Natural environment Seeing my parents and my younger ones (like to be in their midst) Seeing, with nostalgia, my places of play as a small boy - the primary school I attended, football field I used to play, etc Getting to meet old time, childhood friends I always wish sallah holiday is longer |
Adesina is doing a quiet job in agric. He is it for me. |

Not sure whether it's school-wide, but among my friends we used to call carry-over 'igbo'. e.g 'o gbe gbo' - he has carry-over. |
kodebin: UNIABUJA.. ![]() That was funny. BB no dey when we dey school sha |
Ola Johnson: OAU, Ile-Ife (Great Ife)Reminds me of Risky burger at Angola market. I still say "l'ogba yi" till now. I'm hearing ECOWAS for teh first time. Must have been coined post-2006 when we left. |
Ife Igi iwe, eso odo - literally, tree of books, fruit of poor performance. Meant to have a shot at students that read (or pretend to read) heavily but fail Won tun ti de o - They have come again. Aftermath of July 10 1999 cultists strike, to scare students that they have come again. IGG - Initial Gra Gra; those new students that read their life out or performed fantastically in early years but soon lose steam |
Dstar4u: please, when did this Tope Ajetunmobi graduate? And do you know much about him? Thanks2007 |
omowolewa: Don't get it twisted, there are 'sadistic' approach... in Ife too. But the ability to withstand sadist is the reason why we shot 'Great Ife!'Deja vu Ssc 105, Bisiriyu |
chess guru: D day I figure that out, u will b d 1st 2 know. But it happens a lot sha. This kind of mentality is why Nigerian students fail. So how would this be shown in the transcript? All the courses he had good grades in cumulatively from year 1 will be 'downgraded'! |
SBabaJ: I Still Don't Understand How This Works...A Student With Really High Marks Will Have His Scores Changed Because The School Does Not Want To Produce A Certain Number Of First Class Grads?? Hilarious, To Say The Least.I tire o. Imagine, all the over 40 courses taken from Year 1 to 4/5, by at least 20 different lecturers, would just be remarked fiam! Hubris doesn't come starker. |
nass07: Universty of Ilorin dn't dish out first class in this magnitude. You sweat a great deal to achieve it. Well, I dnt know much about OAU's 78 first class graduates- may be people should comment on this first before I say further! With due respect to my brilliant and good friends here that finished from Unilorin (Oyb, Olawalebabs and co), I am from Kwara state and I must tell you the bulk of my friends that went to Unilorin were JAMB victims that opted for remedial. In my secondary school in 2000, out of the over 100 of us that wrote UME, only three of us scored above 200 and two of us chose and went to Ife. Our 120, 150, 180 friends later found themselves in Unilorin. No disrespect, but I doubt these guys were OAU materials in the first place, so I don't know whether these are the people you want to make First Class in Unilorin. You can't score below 200 and get admission into Ife. Well, the Ife I attended. |
delors: Getting a First class will only open wide doors of opportunities for one but it could be frustrating if it is not put to better use. I had a first class from OAU and Omole was my project supervisor back then before he became the VC...First class could be a problem if not properly handled especially in a crazy country like Nigeria...the expectations, the burden, the anxiety etc could be killing...(from personal expi)One too. Well, I must say mine has been very helpful and opened opportunities. I however agree that the expectation/burden is another thing that awaits them post-school. Some people even expect you, with just a First degree, even if with First Class, to know more than a professor in your field. But I have not met an OAU First that fails to live to this expectation. |
Mization: Nigerian News on December 19, 2012 -ohhh, very familiar road. I know this spot. Reminds me of my march through Sokoto state for NYSC. |
