sanb: Chartered Accountants

Doctors

Lawyers

Engineers

IT experts

Consultants

Investment Bankers
That's too broad.

I know a Chartered Accountant that earns 80k per month, just as I know one that earns 4m every month.

okpara ugo: Bankers are getting laid off everyday. No longer attractive. The industry is shrinking because of poor credit worthiness of Nigerian businessmen.
I wasn't talking about commercial, regular banking. Investment banking.

[quote author=Dudu_Negro]The active participation, rights to reply or post and all liberties on nairaland which were previously privileged to honorable Chief Negro is noticed to have been either suspended, revoked or denied. It will be a decent show of honor and leadership if the almighty moderators and their supa dupa thrones of office would just communicate the reason for this undesirable outcome and impact to the said Chief, and noting the rules, if any, that the handsome gentleman of godly spirit has violated to deserve this block.

sincerely,

Ok, I will try and update for Tgirl, but don't have minute by minute details to recollect or narrate. I leave house early, before Jarusat wakes up sef, and come back very late in the evening. So only major events can be remembered.
Family › Re: Family Section Reality Show - Keeping Up With Nairalanders by Jarus(m): 9:07am On Dec 12, 2012
I commend the Sienas for the minute-by-minute account o; not sure I can mentally recall that level of details, or could it be there are no events? Or could it be because I spend 6-10pm at work and on the road and just couple of hours (early morning and late evening added together) with the Jaruses? Or because Jarusat is just 3 months old and hardly any noticeable events?

In 2009, in addition to the sectional awards, we had general, forum-wide awards too, including most versatile poster. But we were not able to sustain it.

We will look at the possibility of reviving it.

afam4eva: I have moved on ever since i was disqualified from this election and even though i feel i was disqualified unjustly, moving forward, i want to proffer a solution for the emergence of the poster of the year in subsequent editions.

Instead of members voting for their preferred choice and also seeing that a very few people actually vote based on the presumed performance of their preferred choice, a lot of others vote based on sentiments especially tribal sentiments. I'll therefore suggest that the best post should be determined by a mini software which will be built and will include variables such as:

1) Number of posts that was made by the person in that section for the given year

2) Number of likes the person got from his/her posts from that particular section

3) The number of threads created by the person in a particular section in the given year

4) The number of people that have quoted the poster in that section for the given year

It can be calculated like this:

1 + 2 + 3 + 4
______________

4

It can either be calculated equally or some of the variables will have greater percentage than others.

I think by considering these variables, it will be easier to conclude who was indeed the best poster in a given year.

On the side, i also think an award be given to the most versatile poster. That's the poster that is present in most if not all sections on Nairaland.
Welcome back, my brother.

I have always known you are a correct guy. So it was easy for me understand your grouse, even though it was untrue-to-type, in the aftermath of your disqualification. I was already mentally preparing your citation that election eve before my attention was drawn to the ban rule. Good you've moved on.

Your scientific voting suggestion appears novel, only that it doesn't appear practicable. But we'll keep improving on the current process year after year.

pak: Wow ! did your sister ever get to meet the person she was named after ?
Yeah, we were still neighbours for long, but later life events have meant all of us are no llonger living in same neighbourhood but our family houses are still there, which we visit anytime we are in town. Our family house is still today close to her father's house and bakery till today. My younger sister knows her .

The older Bukola is now married and lives in UK now.

I also remember when i was learning 123 , i always stuck at 10. I remember finding it difficult yo proceed after reaching 10 and how Dad used to teach me. That should be around 3 to 4 years old.

I remember faintly when Buhari visited Offa, my hometown in 1985, less than 3 years old. All public school pupils were lined up by the streets to welcome him. I also remember how we used yo fear WAI , so kept our compound clean.

At 4 and half years, i asked that my parents give their new baby, my younger sister, Bukola, which was the name of my seat partner in nursery class. Today, that's the name of my younger sister.

isuomo: Take care of your siblings now and delay marriage, you will be a lot happier for it in future when they are all in good positions and you don't have to feed them. I am the first of 6, lost my dad at 16 when i was going into second year in university i completed my degree course and by 20 i had finished my NYSC. My immediate brother is 5 years younger so u can imagine the ages of the others however with the help of God almighty i was able to get a job immediately in one of the Merchant banks then in 1990 and went on to finance all my siblings. 2 medical doctors, an investment banker in New York,Chartered Accountant and Lawyer, they are all very successful now that if i need anything from them and thankfully i don't, they are ready at the drop of a hat. I did not marry until 34 and that is late for someone who graduated at 20; but it was my choice to see the last one finish law school before marriage. Help them now, yes it is a sacrifice but it is better now than to ignore them and carry all your life.
Classic example of why I advise you shouldn't regret spending on your siblings and mother.
Family › Re: The Challenges Of Being The 1st Child by Jarus(m): 1:39pm On Dec 10, 2012
And as the first child of my mother (for my father), although Dad has children from first wife that are already well established, I'm in close situation. The only difference is that for my father's side, there are other people to support, relieving me of burden, but for my mum's side, I'm highly looked upon and the pressure was quiet high. It wasn't easy in my first few years of working too I must admit, but you just have to take care of your mum, no matter how. Spend productively on your siblings too so they can relieve you of burden when they also come of age. Sometimes, it involves denying youself of some things.

Even as an Oil and gas person, I wasn't and still not so glamorous because I knew 'the son of whom I am'. There are times I go broke sef after putting all my money in a capital project I'm doing for my mum, but I have this sense of fulfilment.
Family › Re: The Challenges Of Being The 1st Child by Jarus(m): 1:29pm On Dec 10, 2012
I am happy you didnt give some metaphysical explanations to it, like some people do. That's good enough.

It should not deter you. It's actually a blessing and perhaps test for you. I'm not saying you should be a father christmas but it's good you remember your parents, your siblings.

To me family is very important and I hardly regret anything I spend on my family. Your mum is very important, pls continue to take care of her. For your younger ones, keep taking care of them but ensure it's not on unproductive things. You need not buy him a 20k phone, if it's just 5k phone you can afford for him/her. Try to spend on only things that are very important and critical, like education, professional exams etc in asmuch as you can afford them. You're actually investing in them and when they also come of age, they will relieve you of those burden. For your extended family and perhaps friends, don't turn into father christmas, do only what you can afford. They will call you stingy etc, dont bulge. Save, save, save. Yet, in all, don't forget the simple principle: save, no matter how small, invest, don't let your expenditure exceed your income.

I come from an extended family and the first big man in our family came of age in the 70's but he invested is us younger family members, gave us the best of education. The burden fell on him as the first graduate and working class person in our family then but he was spending (investing) in the family. It was a burden then, but today he is reaping the fruits, as those of us younger generation now come together to contribute for family needs, leaving him to face his business, even though he is still the richest family member, but he has been relieved of minor and even some major expenses now, because he took care of us.

On a pesronal note, I don't joke with my family(especially my very immediate family, but of course don't overburden yourself.
Politics › Re: Anonymous Donors Besiege CPC !!!! Take It Or Leave It by Jarus(m): 11:43am On Dec 10, 2012
Frankly, it's too late to revive CPC.

The party had a huge potential in 2011. It has the record of being the only party that pulled 12m votes in a presidential election less than 2 years after formation.

I'm afraid the potential has been bungled due to lack of coordination and organization within the party. The ugly incidents post presidential elections also did not help matters.

The donors and besiegers asking them to drop the merger plan may be PDP agents planted into the party to unsettle it and deceive it into thinking it can go alone.

CPC can't go alone. It's only hope is considering bringing in a more organized ACN.
