UPDATE: January 1, 2013 Dear Nairaland politics section contributors and guests, for reasons that are personal, I have decided to call it quit as Nairaland Politics Section Moderator effective today. I have communicated to the Administrator through appropriate channel and it's been accepted. I want to seize this opportunity to thank everyone that made my 29 months stewardship here worthwhile. From the CEO himself, who, warts and all, is still a good guy to the COO, Mukina, a very wonderful sister to OAM4J, a great guy, to all my moderator colleagues at the hallowed chamber, to all members of this great section, to all my teeming admirers, some of whom make me feel embarrassed with the mentorship emails I get from time to time, to all guest-viewers. It's been very wonderful working with you guys, some of whom have gone beyond online platform in our relationships offline. Sometimes, I wonder if I truly deserve the goodwill. Taking stock, when I was given this position some 29 months ago, I set out my agenda. Let's review them: 1, Good title, serious forum: To a great extent, we achieved this. We have been able to achieve seriouis titles to threads, rather than those mischievous titles we used to have in the past. Great thanks to my colleague, who joined me later, OAM4J, who has also worked assidiuosly to achieve this through quick retitling of mischievously titled thread. 2, Tribalism monster: we achhieved significant headway in this regard for the better part of 2010 to early this year. But unfortunately, the monster has since returned. Personally, from experience, I don't think this can be totally eliminated. It is a national cancer, only reflective on NL here. Frankly, no amount of bans can change such people. I only pity them. 3,Hall of fame and shame: To God be the glory, we achieved this and it is one of the many initiatives we introduced to add both fun and recognition to this section. We scored 100% here. 4, Complaints thread: we also achieve this. We opened conplaints clinic to attend to forumers complaints. We achieved 100 pages and the second thread is also thirty page plus now. That is our success. We are one of the first sections to start this. 5, Grand Debate: We started at last. This initiative has also been rated as one of the best things to happen to NL Politics section. Altogether, I think I achieved up to 90% of what I set out to do and there is no more auspicious time to throw in the towel than now. This section is now the most visited and I think we have you all to thank for that. I still remain an active member of Nairaland and committed to the Nairaland project. Thank you all. |
afam4eva: I'm not anybody. Afam bu Afam(My name is Afam). Being a mod does not stop one from contributing to issues as long as it does not go against one's duty as a mod.Enjoy dose if your pill. |
One reduced the pump price of petrol, the other increased it. |
Mine was the successful organizing of the IOctober political debate on 1914 amalgamation. |
I don't know what value taking picture with Dangote will add to Fashola. What will he do with the picture? Show people? Post on Facebook? Hang in his house? Put in newspaper. Definitely no for all these. The action can only be a joke, teasing, play in high places. |
So sad |

ujchief: I'm moving a motion for the cancellation/ postponement of the december edition, we've had a lot in our hands this december, least we present a half baked debate of low quality.I have to agree. |
brixton: ooh my concern is on the Uche brothers cos they have been our best performers for quite some time now. That's my concern. Methink Keshi should consider recalling Uche Snr to replace Amoebi, who Newscastle may not release. |
Yobo's comment was captainly. I salute him. Osaze is consituting himself into a nuisance. Meanwhile, can't believe Yobo is 32 already! |
Have you paid your tithe to Seun and us mods? ![]() |
andromida: I am not a muslim but will tell you this God is not testing you. This is purely the work of a fallen angel commonly called spirit husband. You need to take a firm stand and rebuke it. No joke otherwise if care is not taken 5 yrs later you will still be talking same story.Islam actually has a very comprehensive explanation for it - how to go about dealing with it etc. We don't believe it's some 'fallen angel'. It's jinn - another creature of God that have the good and bad ones among them and the evil ones interfere in human affairs. Thanks all the same for teh sincere - even if wrong - advice. |
Apart from my official work with my employers, I've got four other business projects that I look forward to making headway in in 2013, by God's grace 1,I hope to bring full life to my private company - Goldman Jarus Limited - which has been a briefcase company till now and has only engaged in one deal. I hope to strike more deals and add more flesh to it. 2, I am working with a group of friends, including Loma of Nairaland, to launch a national educational project that will see us collaborate with Federal Ministry of education, State governments, WAEC, Nollywood, TV stations etc. We just engaged a project supervisor to take the lead full time. We hope to hit the road in 2013 by God's grace. Watch out 3, I am also working with another group of friends from university (all of us financial professionals) to float a professional services outfit. We just prepared our draft plan 4, A friend that is investing in Agriculture is also inviting me into his business. We had a winding meeting last week and look forward to coming in. 2013 is full of hope for me, by God's grace. |
This award closes 12 midnight today. Winner to be announced tomorrow morning. |
This thread reminds me of similar discussion around this time 2009, when we identified Beaf, then a newbie, as nairalander to watch out for. He would later live up to expectation, becoming a legend in short time. Meanwhile, where on earth is brash aka mrcrackles, arguably most popular nairalander 2008, 2009? |
RedMosquito is another 'new kid on the block. ' He may overtake Jakumo in uniqueness |

ujchief: nope! Desola specifically called u a sell-out for allowing aham top the nominee list with gbawe at a distant 3rd. U had to act fast to appease her and other tribasmen watching by the sidelines.Go research the etymology of the word 'Yorusa' on Nairaland and come back to me. |

ujchief: who doesnt know that u're selective in enforcing these rules? PointB was banned by u at the politics debate thread b'cos he demanded an explanation why coogar was selected as a judge. Was that an offence? It degenerated into use of strong words, u banned pointB and let coogar go free! Isnt that hypocrisy in 3-D? Dont lemmie pull up ur dirty deals.smh. Coogar was also banned. You guys go to any lenght to lie. Meanwhile, Freiburger, sorry pls. Just need to expose these wolf-criers. |
