AkeNathan: I don't understand.
The aircraft did not explode mid-air until it collided with the ground. Why didn't all man on board jump off the aircraft while it was at least one foot away from the ground; just before hitting it ? I suppose they would have survived if they had. Everything would happen within seconds |

Winchman: In the multinational space, promotions aren't driven by time alone. You have to build specific and measurable competencies before you can breakout and move to another level. Someone may do this faster than another person. You could be cross trained into a different role than that for which you were initially hired or posted abroad for international exposure. These things all come into play when promotion decisions are made. This isn't to say it's a perfect system. However, NNPC may be different given that it's government run. My advice would be to go through the process and not worry too much about how long it might take you to go up the food chain. I have a friend that, in 10 years, got to a level in Shell it ordinarily takes 15 years to get to due to exceptional performance. A guy from a very poor home in the "village". Struggled to pay 17k school fees in our final year in university. That's why I always encourage people to try their best and not listen to all this talk about connection in recruitment. Now a very very big boy. Happy for him. That's how life is. |

darado: @Jarus And you think those extra years will not be taken into consideration for next promotion? Like myself that applied for senior officer ss4 which requires 6 yrs experience but i have 8 yrs. 2 years is surplus. Wont they take the 2yrs into consideration for my promotion to ss3? That is to promote me after 1yr Thanks I have no idea about they will manage this. |

iammiracle1: Sir please how many years to get to managerial level? NNPC - 18 years as an external applicant or as an internal person that started from entry level and getting promotion every 3 years (their regular promotion cycle). But possible for an internal person to get to managerial position in less than 18 years either by exceptional performance or "long leg" (fast promotion). |

simplebb: Oga Jarus, this is Nigeria oooo.
Space dey for those highly connected folks, go on LinkedIn and you will see what am talking about. You will see profile of young guys working for these firms.
A friend of mine got GT Eland two years ago by strong referral and one is currently at a well paying one firm, connect to strong (they didn't even bother trying NNPC when they heard of the pay)......
While your assertion that most of those firms don't want entry level as they don't have time to train is true, few people with long spoon still get into GT slot at those places albeit few or you want tell me say if the MD of LEKOIL na my direct uncle I no go dey work for the place by now.
Level pass level. You are very correct. I said they "hardly" not they "don't". It does not mean they don't recruit entry level people. They do. But few. You also buttressed my point that it is usually by referral. Only in very few cases that they do open publication of openings. |

yungmin: Why is NNPC not being kept in standards of the other players in the sector? Is NPDC for example not an E&P company? In absolute pay ( monthly pay + upfront+ bonus), they do better than NNPC. But NNPC has some benefits like estacode and some other side benefits that make them competitive. But some of these add-ons are not guaranteed, depends in departments etc. An NPDC staff is first an NNPC staff. |

Many low key companies dey oh Unfortunately, most of them have no spaces for entry level (except the IOCs and maybe Seplat). No time to train. Thet prefer experienced people. And most of the openings are hardly advertised (except for the IOCs). Informal industry networking. |

yungmin: But why would NLNG be paying higher than NNPC when crude oil sells higher than gas? Hian 1. NLNG is jointly owned by NNPC, Shell, Total and Agip. You need to keep the company in the standard of those IOCs. NNPC is a government company, NLNG is not a government company. 2. NLNG has far less employees than NNPC. Less people to "share" the money. 3. NLNG is very profitable. |

wayodude: Omo naijas Una arrogant sha. The reams of nonsense I have endured reading here this morning has left me gob smacked.
One would have thought we would have learnt some humility after missing the last 2 AFCONs! Some people here even said our players are better than Mahrez because he is not a starter at Man City, comparing him with our players who start only in tier-3 league. Semi final is not a bad result for us. We got to last 4 in a 24-team tournament. Player for player, we are not even better than Mali that got knocked out in round of 16. The earlier we realize we are not the best team in Africa, or even have the best players in Africa, the better. Someone even mentioned here that we have the best under-23 team/players in the world. Because you know only Nigerian players. Go check under-23 players of France, Holland, etc. |

Hope say we no escort pple come this world At non-managerial level, NNPC is not among the Top 15 highest paying oil companies in Nigeria. Let me give an example: Have you heard of Eland Oil ( https://www.elandoilandgas.com/) before? Likely no. They pay more than NNPC for similar role. There are many oil companies out there that only industry insiders know of. |

1. Musa (We underrate this guy, he is our best player, his poor final ball notwithstanding 2. Ighalo (like him or loathe him, he scored 4 goals - plus he was the only fighter in our docile team - see the way he insisted on that penalty call/VAR check) 3. Chukwueze (he try small, but still has a lot to do on final ball) |

I also underwent the recruitment for 2 reasons
1, To get first hand information for our interview coaching service for my side venture.
2, NNPC is a nice place to work for stability and security, but the minimum position that can be commensurate to my current earnings is Deputy Manager and NNPC requires 18 years for that - I have 11 years. As I know I'm not qualified for managerial position, I applied for the 9 year supervisor position, which I know I will get. But not likely to take the offer as the pay for that level is significantly lower than my current. I have several friends in this situation too (like the one I chatted with up here). |

Have we met? You're sounding like someone I met during the course of this NNPC process. |

Mickael2: Bros if after coaching the same set of players for over three years and yet your team is only good enough for the semifinal which we have reached 15 times out of 18 then maybe it is not the team that isn't good enough but you. Although more difficult to reach semi final in 2019 than previous editions - first time 24 teams contested. |

4 minutes to go.
They were hitting bar, hitting "legs" and there was no leadership on the field to ginger the players to rise to the occasion, even if you have to fall down and waste time.

Curiously, if we won a free kick in that same position at that time in the game would we have converted it? We would not have scored. That's where big players come in. Folks refused to agree Mahrez is a big player. |

Let's face it, there is a limit to which luck can take you.
You can't win a tournament with poor defence and goal keeper. |
