By the way, we should not forget that this Algerian team held Germany (eventual WC winner) to extra time in WC 2014 round of 16. But a dip in form for like 2 years made us underestimate them going into this AFCON.
I rated Morocco highly. Don't know what is wrong with them.
This is a golden generation for Senegal, I suspect they will end up like the golden generation of CIV, where they failed to win AFCON until their golden generation retired (except Toure). But I think this Senegal team will still win an AFCON - maybe 2023.
They still have good young players scattered across Europe.
In fact. majority of the players that played today for both Algeria and Senegal were ex-French junior international. Most of them were born in France. Even Mahrez was born in France (although never played for France at junior level). But most others played for French under-17, under-21 etc like our own Iwobi and Aina played for England for English juinor teams and Ekong for Dutch junior team. |

TheSuperNerd: If you all recall the discussion between Bascovanveli and I many months ago, we both discussed the possibility of Ighalo going on to emerge Afcon Top scorer on top of being Qualifiers top scorer and crowning it with an Afcon trophy to give him a shot at APOTY.
Well only a part of our thoughts came through. Ighalo did emerge top scorer back to back...
Bascovanveli, I am sure you remember the discussion.... I have personally had reservations about Iggy and his touch-and-go form.... But I always gave him my support to deliver.
He did struggle in the GWG for years but his latter periods with the team is quite a story to behold. He finished well even though he didn't start well.... And the race of life is for finishers...not starters.
You just have to give it up for Iggy (shown on Rohr's right)..... He retires a hero. And showed that he is farrrrrrrr better than that Overhyped Chris Boy called Niang.... Senegal forward did not play like they play in big clubs. They were very disappointing. Poor touches. I didn't feel Niang (except that shot), Sarr, Diagne, even Keita Balde. |

Earthquake2: I wonder how Senegal is in West Africa and Cameroon isn't
I feel closer to Cameroon than Senegal Because you are at the boundary of West Africa. I'm from North Central Nigeria, Kwara state, southern Kwara to be precise, meaning I'm in same Geopolitical zone with someone from Plateau state - 10 hours drive from my Kwara. But Osun, which is in SW, is 20 minutes drive from my place and I share more cultural affinity with Osun. |

uuzba: In UK, this is what happens. 1. Everybody is registered. 2. With regstration, you have some sort of a social security number. 3. Every home address is registered. 4. Everyone is registered to their home address. (A lot of database and paper work) 5. With your registration status, you can open a bank account (they know your house) 6. They will give you a credit card. This is extra money above your real money. 7. You can use that credit money to do business/whatever and pay back in monthly installments over a period of time --- 8. Depending on your credit rating and income, you can go to a car dealership and pick up the latest car and put monthly installments for X number of years. - In essences, everyone is able to afford new things. iPhone X, Galaxy S10,.. fine house, new car. Vehicles operate fine, brake pad etc.. People are relaxed. Everyone already has new things so they are not jealous of each other.
They don't save their money complete before buying anything. They just take it and pay in installments, till they sell it off to another person or pay off.
That's how UK economy works The upside of this: Manufacturers can keep manufacturing new things that people "buy". Everyone gets new/latest/high quality things
The down side of this: People tend to fall into perpetual debt. Great summary!!! Kudos |

pflourish: Please guys, enough of the TF or APL perplexity. Oga jarus and xfire should give us insight about the details and procedures of how NNPC hirees are posted to various divisions and subsidiaries. I heard that a candidate's overall score determines whether the candidate works in the upstream, midstream or downstream. Anyone with legit info should kindly clarify. xfire that has worked in NNPC is in better position to answer. My own is just 3rd party info. But I doubt score will determine division. |

My "sauce" who works in NNPC (but not in HR) believes the recruitment will be concluded latest early next month. When I reminded him/her about approval by FCC, he/she said all that can be fasttracked.
Second info I got: 1000 GT and less than 500 EH will be hired.
So keep your fingers crossed. But pls don't crucify me if it doesn't turn out exactly accurate o. Things can change.
I didn't ask about correlation between TP and APL. God forbid. That kind of question can "fall one's rank". It will make me look like a fool. |

NNPC will reimburse everyone that attended the interview and put down their account details. I insist, it does not have any correlation with success. |

mosgoon: lol, this is nothing to think about..clearly NNPC. speaking on salary alone, NNPC pays x3 more at entry level. and since you referred to entry level, unless you are passionate about the big 4, then you don't even need to think about it. Also, all the big 4 would suck the life out of you, they are very stressful. KPMG, PwC, Ey and deloitte. but they offer quality training in core practices e.g audit, deal advisory, tax advisory etc. But if you were my brother/sister, and you studied engineering, i would slap you for wanting to remain in a big 4 when an oil company is calling
PS. i am talking from first hand experience Gbam. This is the advice I would give my younger brother. Interestingly, I advised a friend that got NNPC job in 2012 against taking it. |

The job u get today, u can always get a better one tomorrow and u must attend interviews. I am doing well and I have attended several interviews, both the ones I turned down and the one I didn't get. Makes u a better person and know how marketable u are. Ur mind is still small bro.
Ask for example jarus, he is doing well but would have attended several interviews. It broadens ur mindset. There is nothing wrong in attending several interviews. |

Nigeria has never lost a 3rd place match in the history of AFCON.
Played 7 times (1976, 1978, 1992, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010) and won in all.

k2039: Not just that. I need to say something that has been giving me concern.
I respect Jarus and Mosgoon, but there is so much worshiping going on this thread.
Everyone should be confident in his/her skills and experience, it's not like we are all in the same field. If certain people think Jarus and Mosgoon not receiving alert spells good omen for all who haven't received transport fare from NNPC, then I think a new religion is already emanating on this thread.
That said, there's also the madness of people asking for LOML. Mosgoon specifically stated it's for those who intend to work for consulting firms.
It's clear, it's taking a lot of his energy and effort to send the LOML to the people requesting for it, but I think it will be sheer wickedness for anyone to request for it without intending to put time and effort into whatever he sends.
Furthermore, I hope people won't commit suicide when APL gets distributed.
Finally, we were told at the towers in clear English (not French or Spanish) that we will be given a token for transport fare, I don't know if the English wasn't clear enough. Gbam |
