chrisooblog: I would not like to use the word deceive every football fan always expect his team to win regardless of the opposition we are no different some might find comfort in patterns some in items of superstition all to boost belief of our team success. So don't begrudge them that just because you want to be cautiously optimistic shouldn't bar anybody else from being widely expectant of Victory. I've been watching football for so many years 2 outrightly dismiss someone's wild expectations the success of Leicester City Greece just to mention a few has taught me always to have hope even when the odds I'm not great.
Anyway at the end of the day it's football we win we are happy to celebrate we lose we are sad get trolled we move on EOD I'm actually expectant (or at least hopeful) of victory purely on the ground that we have a team of players that if they turn up, can stop Cameroun. Cameroun is not Brazil or Spain. We are at best mates. But I don't believe in unscientific pattern (eg every 20 years XYZ wins World Cup, Nigeria has never lost to defending champions etc). |

TheSuperNerd: Ahead of #NGACAM
Fun fact: Nigeria's Super Eagles have never lost to a cup holder/defending Champion in a Knock-out Round at the AFCON.
The only other times we played a defending Champion was in the group stages and we lost one (1-3 vs Egypt in 2010) and drew one (1-1 vs Zambia in 2013). Both Egypt and Zambia conquered Africa in 2008 and 2012 respectively prior to those editions they faced Nigeria.
But when the chips are down... The Super Eagles always come out tops in a K.O. battle against the defending/reigning Champs and Cup holders. WILL THIS RECORD CONTINUE THIS SATURDAY?
1994 AFCON: CIV (Champions in 1992)
CIV lost to Nigeria on penalties in the semis after a 2-2 stalemate. A goal similar to the Aina Backheel assist to Ighalo was foreran in 1994 by OKOCHA Backheel assist to Ben Iroha in this 1994 classic.
2004 AFCON: Cameroun (Champions in 2002)
Cameroun with their Golden generation of the 2000s lost out to a determined Nigerian side led by the Magical Okocha and Mercurial Kanu. It was a quarter final tie and it ended 2-1 in Nigeria's Favor and began the rise of Vincent Enyeama on the Afcon stage.
2006 AFCON: Tunisia (Champions in 2004)
The Carthage Eagles clashed with the Super Eagles and came off worse as they were beaten and knocked out in the quarter finals on penalties (6-5) after a 1-1 stalemate. This was a day in which Enyeama further cemented his place as Africa's fast rising finest as he saved three penalties during the P.S.O and saved one during regulation time. Enyeama saved four penalties in all that day and Mikel Obi played his best game of the tournament against Tunisia as a youngster on his Afcon tournament debut. He had earlier made his Afcon debut game vs Zimbabwe and scored with a 20 yard scorcher in jersey #8. A most memorable day it was for Nigerian football.
2019 AFCON: Cameroun again!!! (Champions in 2017)
What will the story read? Time will fill in the details
#SoarSuperEagles Na so we deceive Enyeama say Messi never score again am. |

Jarus can an oil servicing firm be compared to NNPC? Now this is not to take anything away from NNPC as a very fantastic place to work. If I get a Manager or even DM position there myself, I will take it. I personally wont take any oil servicing firm, even Schlum, ahead of NNPC for 3 reasons 1. At this stage of my career, if I make a job change, I would like it to be where I would spend almost all the rest of my career. NNPC guarantees that more than oil servicing firms 2. Oil servicing firms are very volatile - they lay off at the slightest issue with oil and gas industry. 3. I'm a support professional (not a core technical person like engineers, geologists etc), we have limited roles in the oil servicing because they don't own oil assets that involve complex finance function. That said, if I were entry level and a technical person (engineers, geologists etc), and I have offers from NNPC and Schlumberger (not just any oil servicing), I may consider Schlum because of the international brand which can help in penetrating international oil and gas market. I have a friend that moved from Schlumberger Nigeria to Schlumberger UK then to Saudi Aramco. But generally, NNPC offers more stability and security. |

mos4phy: replying to your edited post, like i said in my last reply, only total and exxon, i know nothing of, i have vague ideas of some others, while 3 in your first list i have exact legit figures for and they are not far from nnpc's, or to put it this way, wouldn't make one run from nnpc to another if other perks are considered. nnpc's current upfront is a bit higher now sef Bros, far back 2008, my generation as entry level, Shell was paying N500k for entry level. In other words, what NNPC pays today to entry level was what Shell was paying 11 years ago. No be say I hear o. Na wetin I see. By the way, someone from one of the 2 IOCs you said you know nothing of has been consistently telling you on this thread that NNPC does not come close to the IOCs at non-managerial level strictly on pay terms. This is someone that has collected salaries in both companies o. |

mos4phy: and don't think there are not other industry experts playing around here. I said i know first hand salaries of 3 companies you mentioned there FOR GT, and they are not far from NNPCs ... lol. GT that earns N200k per month after N4m upfront? Pro-rate that per month and see if it's anywhere close to Exxon, Shell, TOTAL, Chevron, NLNG - none of which pays less than N850k per month for entry level. I think this upfront thing confuses people. These IOCs don't do upfront system like NNPC, but if you add NNPC's upfront to the paltry monthly payments afterwards, it is still not close to the guy that will pay you N1m per month at entry level. So let's say Shell pays N850k per month (they were paying that like 7 years ago!), if they want to operate upfront system like NNPC and decide to be paying you N200k per month, your upfront will be N650k*12 = N7.8m! Compare that to NNPC's upfront of N4m for similar level. It is only at managerial level that NNPC compares with these companies. At entry level, there is gulf of difference. |

mos4phy: i have legit info from 3 companies you mentioned there and if we are to take nnpc's speculation as mentioned earlier on the thread, nnpc's package isn't too far from those 3, close enough to weigh in other benefits. If anyone has legit info on exxons package and it's disparity with nnpc's can please pm me or reply this message Oga, don't argue this with experienced industry insiders. See your answer here. xfire: Lol
At entry level, the IOCs generally pay much more than NNPC. A lot of NNPC staff will move to IOCs if given the slightest chance.
The same can not be said at management level (NNPC package for management staff is crazy), just that it takes about 18 years to climb from entry-level to management staff, that's if you are lucky to scale through to management level.
