naijaking1: ^^^^ I take your word that you have nothing to do with the disappearance of that article. However, as someone who has pasted longer article on this forum before now, I just can't stop wondering when the blot began to clip the so-called long articles. Whenever Sanusi is mentioned? Whenever Akingbola is repeated, or simply since you became the moderator I'm still waiting to see the article I posted as a new topic I don't know how else to convince you. How will I stoop so low to suppress opposition views, especially when i stand nothing to gain from the whole debate. At the heat of the SLS debate around August/Sep last year, I posted a very long article titled ' Sanusi's reforms: A tale of two predictions' and it was caught by spambot before later released after I PMed the admin. I never cried foul play. I believe we should have outgrown all that. I have PMed the Admin in your case too to reinstate the thread that it was not a spam, and I believe he will attend to it. |

naijaking1: Jarus, Where is my new topic post on Akingbola? Did you delete, hide, or transfer it? Everybody knows your position on Sanusi vs Akingbola, but if you used your moderator position to delete the article from Newswatch, then it means that even you as a journalist doesn't understand and appreciate free speech. Like any other long, copy and paste posts, it was caught by spambot. I have asked the admin to release it. It will soon be visible to normal users. tpiah: is that true?
gosh, this type of fascist mindset seems to be entrenched with jarus.
annoying!!!!! Shakes head naijaking1: ^^^^ Mr. bot, Mr. bot, Mr. bot where are thou? If you have ears hear me, if yoy have eyes, see that the article contained no profanity, no bad language, and no disrespect to anybody on this forum.
Why was this article removed? I know the bot is installed by a human, monitored by a human, and even everseen by a human. Has the bot been used as a political tool on Nairaland? No blood runs through the bot's veins, the bot is not human. The bot is just a tool, so why do we blame everything done by humans on the bot Cool down my bros, even my own post can be caught by spambot. I told you, you are safe |

naijaking1: Speaking about Akingbola, why is someone deleting an article I posted from Newswatch about his position on this case. Anybody who needs more information should please read the Sunday edition of the magazine to get a full and better understanding of Akingbola's position. Unless something dark and evil resides inside you, there is no reason to execute an innocent man even before he's tried in a court of law. Like any other long, copy and paste posts, it was caught by spambot. I have asked the admin to release it. It will soon be visible to normal users. |

10 QUOTES OF JIMOH IBRAHIM
1, 'If they want to sell Ekiti state, I will issue the cheque', 2006, responding to allegation that he was fronting for ex-Ekiti governor, Ayo Fayose then
2, 'By 45 I want to retire and give out my wealth as charity', 2007, shortly before his 39th birthday
3, 'They(Dangotes, Adenuga and co) know me, I'm already there', when a journalist asked him whether he was in the billionaire's league already, especially as many Nigerian soft-selling mags don't rate him among Top 10 richest Nigerians
4, 'Who doesn't borrow? We all borrow. That is the fact', when approached by a journalist that he may not be rich as portrayed, especially as his business are majorly financed by debt
5, 'I want to create as many employment as possible. I want to be like my brother, Dangote, who is the biggest single employer of labour in Nigeria today', 2005 6, 'These guys are implementing Harvard economic theories, I'm familiar with them', in 2006, referring to Okonja Iweala's economic policies then.
7, 'I will take the matter up in courts, I'm not owing banks that much', August 2009, responding to Sanusi's debtors list where he featured prominently. Never mind the fact that he later went to pay, inviting journalists to witness it, and publishing his accounts in papers
8, 'The solution to the current economic crisis is to print more money', 2009
9, 'The guys are illiterates', 2007, referring to Dangote and Otedola, obviously furious at Obj's selling of refineries to them, before YRD later revoked it. And of course, reminding us that they were not Harvard-trained like him
and now
10, 'I am bigger than Richard Branson', August 2010 |

Literature › Re: I Don't Read! by Jarus(op): 9:38am On Aug 06, 2010 |
semid4lyfe: Hmmm. . . .me thinks the OP's problem is he started off reading with the wrong books (newspapers, magazines) and ön the serious issues (politics, history, ecönomics etc). Now his reading interests/range is fixed and he can't seem to break out of it. Besides, he didn't follow the right pathway, lol. He should have started with the mundane fairy tale novels (Enid Blyton), grown into the mystery novels (Famous Five, Secret Seven, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Agatha Christie,James Hardly Chase etc), picked up the mature fictional novels (Frederick Forsyth, Jeffrey Archer, John Grisham, Dan Brown etc), read autobiographies/biographies, Motivational/Inspirational books before reading books/newspapers on the more serious issues like history, politics and economics.
Op needs to start reading novels and watching films tøo. Although novels and movies are not always historically accurate, you can pick up a lot from them.
Frederick Forsyth for example writes fictional novels on espionage & international politics and his works have covered historical issues such as the Biafra War, The Jewish Holocaust, the Cuban Missile Crisis, The Cold War & the Nuclear Arms race, The Balkanization of the Soviet States, The Falkland War, Israel-Arab conflict & the six-day war, etc etc. It was his reference to these cónflicts that piqued my interest and made me do my own independent reading to bring myself up to speed on them. Now I read everything under the sun leisurely except academic texts.
TV & Movies also help. . . .Op can learn a lot from historical documentaries & movies such as The Last King of Scotland, The Great Debaters, Malcolm X, Pearl Habour, Cry Freedom, Sarafina etc.
ALL these will stimulate his interest and expand his areas of reading. Wish I ahve raed all those books you mentioned, but they sound Greek to me. |

He was REQUIRED by law to aggregate people from other tribes for those jobs. Quota system is part and parcel of Nigeria's governance.
Obasanjo and law in the same sentence? No law stopped him from appropriating FCT ministry to a Yoruba man instead of El-Rufai. He created EFCC and even if its leadership was to be based on quota system, he had the option of starting with a Yorubaman instead of Ribadu, a fulani man. Finance ministry, instead of giving to Okonjo, he could have put a Yoruba man there. Let's give it to him, he was detribalized. |
Politics › Re: A True Nationalist! A Diatribalized Nigerian! by Jarus(m): 5:27pm On Aug 05, 2010 |
I agree OBJ is detribalized. Most members of his team and inner caucus (Soludo, Okonjo, Dora, Oby Ezekwile, El Rufai, Ribadu) were from other tribes. But I think it's more because of his military background. Most of IBB men(Idika Kalu, Sam Aluko, Tunji Olagunju, Olawale Ige, Sam Oyoivbare, Omo Omoruyi, Alex Akinyele) were also from tribes other than his. |
