Hi opticians, I don't know whether it is a problem or not; I can't see without squeezing my face in the afternoon. Perhaps the sun or any light cause me to strain my sight. Do I have any thing to worry about?

Squinting is what u described. Its mostly associated with refractive errors.

Vikkyk10...You are not too young. I have consulted kids as young as 5yrs with myopia and have to prescribe glasses for them. The earlier the better. If you are short-sighted then get corrected, otherwise you might develop amblyopia or if its a degenerative myopia it might get worse. The tearing might suggest an associated astigmatism. So u need to examine ur eye to know the degree of myopia cus high myopia comes with risks of retino-vascular issues like glaucoma. Hope am not making u scared.

Ok. What you need now is a comprehensive eye exam. The doctor will need to carry out eye pressure check, central field test and maybe fundus photography. These test will help to diagnose glaucoma and help to manage/monitor it.

I stay around yaba. I was given glasses to use when the diagnosis was done but no reasonable improvement has been noticed on the eye.

Mr Soludokay...Don't be disappointed, the Dr might have been busy. Let me say this : if you were diagnosed of Glaucoma and u are now experiencing diminished vision in one eye, then its an indication of smth very serious. Since you have a history of trauma too , it could either advanced glaucoma or retinal issues from the hit. If those two are ruled out, then it could be from an uncorrected refractive error. My advice is to go to a good eye clinic where diagnostic tests can be done to ascertain the cause. Do u have flashes of light?? Do u see colors round bright light ?? Where do u stay??

Some people and their stone-age sarcastic mentality. This is suppose to be a free world. She just expressed herself and what she wants, so instead of being judgmental why not give her suggestions or better still apply if you are interested. SMH for some NL'ers.

There are numerous causes of teary itchy eye, and so there is no magical one-cure-all eyedrop for that. The most important thing is to diagnose properly what the real cause is. Could be allergy, dry eye, astigmatism etc.

Aristocrom is an anti-inflammatory eyedrop used to manage allergies in the eye.

I see loads of them @ Ojodu Berger in Lagos everyday when going to work. sometimes its like a family business...Father, mother and their children all begging. Personally if some1 is disabled, or when its lil kids I do give. But healthy n abled adults I am always reluctant to give except if I feel they are stranded. For those bus preacher, bus and park beggars I Don't give.

So my mom keeps having surgery done on her eyes for glaucoma and because of the surgeries that were carried out on the eyes she's now developing cataracts. The recovery period after the surgeries are usually painful and slow and sometimes with extreme photophobia. Isn't there an alternative to surgery?

Usually glaucoma drugs r the first line of action in managing glaucoma, surgeries are only done when the drugs r not effective or the glaucoma is advanced especially when it result frm blockage of the aqueous drainage and needs more aggressive approach. If that is the case (advanced glaucoma) then she will have to cope with the treatment. For the cataracts, she might have to wait until its mature. My regards to her.

Pls don't use any eyedrop for now except they have been examined by an eye doctor. The thing abt babies is dat their eyes r still undergoing changes. Wat color of discharge ? Is it ropy or mucous? Is it a daily discharge ? And their it make their eyelids get a lil stuck 2gether wen they wake up?

thanks for this wonderful thread, pls my problem started last month although I hv bn applying eye drop and and taking medication within that time it started, the eye drop seems to relief it for some time, I usually hv this heaviness of the eye with little or no aching, only that I wont feel comfortable when it starts. but i dont hv problem viewing things.within that period it started I came in contace with a girl who complained to me her eyes was disturbing her and she was using eye drop,so I dont know whether I will tagg her my number one suspect, secondly am slightly hypertensive of abt 140/80 although I take medication and control it, so pls what could be the cause of this, thanks in anticipation of your reply.

What's d name of the eyedrop ?

Floaters are tiny particles or threadlike strands that patients see moving in their vision.

You need to go and review ur prescription. You might have been over-corrected.

it appears virtually everyday.. most times people tell me to clean my eyes. its embarrassing... what I now do is to always clean the side of my eyes at least twice in 1hr for it not to come out

how long has it been discharging? Wat treatment have u used?

had an injury in my eyes(was flogged on d eyes) around DEC 2010. since it was treated, I haven't felt it again. do u think there is still any cause for alarm

Do u experience floaters or flashes of light?
