Ije has been mentioned before. Seen it and enjoyed it. Haven't seen a better Nollywood movie. Jozi Kings is another good movie. The best Nollywood film I've seen this year. Nollywood Cinemas is showing it now.

@Audrie - with you on Troy. Love those scenes too. And the other scenes you mentioned sound very interesting.

Not very good with the X-Men franchise but I know I'll never forget a scene from the first one when Wolvorine had a gun pointed at him from behind, he quickly turns and chops the gun into two.

Then don't know in which of the franchises but the scene where Wolverine kills the character who creates a very dangerous wind, then kisses her or so.

Have seen all Coen films you mentioned except Miller's Crossing. Very good movies.

Saw Super 8 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes or so. The last Pirates scored very low but still did well at box office. Midnight in Paris scored 90+ percent but still to appear in box office.

SS only needs to sit on the director's chair to redeem himself. Producing 10 movies can't do much.

True Grit is my fave Coen Brothers movie now.

Who remembers the scene in The Patriot where Mel Gibson's character fights for the first time. That whole scene was so good. Remember when he continued striking as his kids watched.

Halle Berry's sex scene with Billy Bob in Monster's Ball was awesome. Most times I wonder if cameras were fixed all over the place and they were left all alone, lol.

In Reloaded, a Nigerian film, there was this scene Stephinie Okereke's character 'feeds' Van Vicker's character some cake.

In Jozi Kings, the first scene is also the last scene. After a shoot-out, the two guys both injured and bleeding, got talking, one of the guys, looks around to see the beautiful lights of Jozi and then says "I never knew Johanesburg is this beautiful at night, but like the said, every good thing never lasts."

The scene in Gran Torino when Clint Eastwood's character locks the boy up to go over for 'revenge' alone. Then the scene during the reading of the will when the lawyer mentions that the boy will get the car.

The scene in Annie where the song 'Tomorrow' was sang by Annie, Daddy Walberg, think his political opponent and wife. The scene was quite significant.

All the scenes that happen in Jude Law's character's cafe in My Blueberry Nights.

Saw it today. Nice movie and like you rightly noted, wasn't as good as the first one. Had a first laugh when the guy finished playing the musical instrument, the father of the bride made a little speech, the bearded psycho member stood up for his speech. The last page was when every one in the theatre laughed. Think they should make a final one and then stop. Maybe revisit it 20 years later.

Heard about Bridesmaid too but didn't see it on their list. Looking out for Midnight in Paris and Tree of Life. Midnight in Paris is my most anticipated movie now.

Dark Knight - 'why so serious?', the scene where the face I'd turned from the burnt side to the good side.

Saving Private Ryan, will totally agree with - almost all the scenes. Let me mention a few though - every scene the sniper recites bible passages while he's shooting, the scene where Tom Hanks character dies. He just keeps shooting. That lost look. I also loved the whole scene when they land at the beach and race forward, the massacre and all. The scene where the freed German is killed by the particular soldier who pleaded for him to freed in the first place. My favorite SS film. Haven't seen Schlinder's List though.

I'll mention a few myself.

On top of my list would be a scene from Million Dollar Baby. The scene where Clint Eastwood character finally helps Hilary Swank's character commit suicide. The point Clint Eastwood finally reveals the meaning of the inscription on the robe he gave. That has been my favorite scene for a while now.

I also got a couple from Scent of a Woman. The scene where Col. Slade (Al Pacino) want to commit suicide but his 'boy' meets him. The 'I'm in the dark here' line was quite special. Then of course the scene where he defends his 'boy' - 'this is a whole 'croko' shit', 'who the hell do you', 'there's nothing worst than an amputated soul' etc.

In Crazy Heart the scene where Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrel's characters perform the song Falling and Flying on stage.

The scene in Notting Hill when Hugh Grant's character impersonates a reporter to interview Julia Roberts character in her hotel room.

Saw Hangover 2 today at Genesis. It was quite nice but really over-hyped shah. But was still a good movie. There was a scene that got everyone at the cinema laughing. Hardly laugh while watching comedy but really just had to.

By the way, does NL Film Club meet 'non-virtually'? Have asked that question before on another post.

Not been in Lagos for a long time and really wanna play the best scrabble players here. Use Oxford dictionary only. One minute play time as well. Tiles on board.

Sporadic singing's kinda something me love oh. Musicals aint my fave genre but love them so much.

Nollywood's still learning, maybe they've been learning slowly but trust there a few good movies yearly. Jozi Kings and Ije both impressed me last year and this year.

Have seen Fargo, love it. No Country for Old Men too, love that too. Think it won them best directing Oscar. But still, Oh Brother, Where Art Though is my fave Coen movie so far.

Glad some people are understanding my list now. Glad you do oldies too. I seem to be the only one who doesn't pay attention to sound in film.

I guess your fave genre'll be action then?

Just went through Thomas Newman's credits after your reply. He's got very impressive stuff there, most of my fave movies are there.

Oldies, love watching the very good ones.

On Bollywood and Nollywood, when a movie gets good reviews, I watch or if the trailer impresses me.

Musicals, I love them. Basically grew up watching them along classic Bollywood films so really addicted to them.

Since Unforgiven, I've loved everything Eastwood has done that I've seen. Woody Allen too's the man. Coen brothers too but haven't seen much of their films but my fave has to be Oh Brother.

Aronofsky - wrestler's fantastic and Black Swan too.


You got a nice taste for movies. Love that. But you gotta try see Bollywood films and Nollywood films with good reveiws shah, lol.

@Obinna5000 - Can try for foreign language nomination. But again, good movies get acquired at film festivals et al most notably, Slamdance.

Can't remember again, but think one's film has to be shown for two weeks or so in a cinema in Los Angeles or so to qualify for Oscar consideration. Don't really know the full rules but have read them before and it's easy to handle if you're a average player in the movie industry.

Just keep trying. I make some mistakes myself. Most notable, saying 'change' instead of 'balance'.

Usually just correct them. It's something most people use without knowing it's the wrong term.
