TV/Movies / Re: Your First Cinema Experience. by Jayboy124: 9:01am On Jun 01, 2012
I have written about my first experience.

Just wanna add that for anyone who wants to be a filmmaker, always make out time to see movies at the cinemas. At LEAST twice a month. If you can afford going everyday, better. Helps give one the right mindset about how people are gonna see your movie.

Last one was the best. You are a fine writer girl.

One good thing I noticed about the last poem too. Visualising what you were talking about was quite easy.

Keep writing.

Literature / Re: My Muse. A Poem. by Jayboy124: 3:06pm On May 28, 2012
I think most people don't get the idea of a muse. I'm just seeing this for the first time and I must say it'very nice. I love my muses and it's always nice to read works of people who understand that without a muse, an artist can't create a classic.

Keep it up.

Try naijastories.com, it's a site for aspiring and established writers.

Mine was at Genesis in Lekki.

Being a struggling filmmaker, I had always loved watching goodd Nollywood films. So my first visit to Lagos in a long while, and I was lucky Ije: The Journey was showing at the same period.

So I went and saw Ije. It was really amazing. Second Nollywood film I was seeing in years. Trailer for Grown-ups was on before the actusl movie. I went back next day to see it.

Literature / Re: Lazy To Write My Buzzing Ideas. by Jayboy124: 4:50pm On May 16, 2012
First of all, start writing everything you write in complete English words and sentences. No text words and all that.

Secondly, look for other upcoming writers and make friends with them. Start writing exercises together, finish yours and encourage them to finish theirs.

Find your best medium. Prose, plays, scripts at al. You may be lazy because you haven't found your best speciality yet.

Then join naijastories.com and find other aspiring talented writers too. It's the best Nigerian writers' site I know of.

Then you might just be the next Achebe's daughter. All the best.

One of the sweetest and unique poems I have read in a while. Reminded me of the graduation ceremony from I Love Betty Cooper. This one happens on a writer's site though. Very sweet simple poem.

stiyke:

Please could you explain "the Idumota way"? I will be glad to learn what that means. Thanks

Sorry. Meant going straight to VCD/DVD. Which means you aren't planning to go through cinema. And for those who know this system well, it seems to me like the most profitable.
TV/Movies / Re: Sponsoring/producing A Nigerian Movie. by Jayboy124: 6:24am On May 08, 2012
If you have enough money, co-produce with the big players of Nollywood. There are Nollywood films that has made big money at the box office. Look for guys behind these movies, sit down and discuss with them.

If not, you can try some independent stuff.

If not, you can go the Idumota way too.

As a banker, I believe you know that every business venture can be very profitable and/or can also make you loose money. So like the first person advised, please do a lot of research. Your bank experience has to give you an edge in the research. Movie business is risky.

Wish you all the best.
TV/Movies / Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by Jayboy124: 10:47am On Apr 22, 2012
Roger Moore is the best James Bond for me. Might have been Pierce Brosnan if he had acted in at least 6 Bond films.

What kinda screenplays do you write? Google sites you can download classic screenplays. Just read them and you'll get an idea of how to write one.

Nichol, Zoetrope, Big Break are all international screenwriting competitions. Also google and check out their sites.

Any other help, you can always reply. Will try and reply asap.

Your best option is to have her recommend you to producers when she is produced. Also check out her screenplays to know what she how she writes. Wish I could read one of her screenplays.

A second option, register for international screenplay competitions. Agents listen to you more when you do well in such competitions.

Then try the query letters. It doesn't work magic but works sometimes.

@Jenny, also do screenplays, most of my characters are usually in their 20s though. But I got one set mostly in a secondary school. Maybe we could exchange a few pages and see.
TV/Movies / Re: Introducing High School Movies In Nollywood! by Jayboy124: 12:56pm On Jan 06, 2012
The major problem will be that most producers won't wanna go that route shah. But it's a route that excites me as well especially if the screenplay is well written. Hopefully, soon people will go that way.
TV/Movies / Re: Introducing High School Movies In Nollywood! by Jayboy124: 11:02am On Jan 06, 2012
I saw Champions of our Time and realised we could get even children who are very good actors.

If we have producer ready for real high school stuff, then the talent will be found. There are good actors in our secondary schools.

If you got a likeminded crew, do some shorts, trailers maybe. It's easier to sell yourself better that way.
