TV/MoviesRe: Woody Allen For Cecil B Demille Award At The2014 Golden Globes by Jayboy124(op): 9:29am On Sep 18, 2013
sholay2011: You simply don't enjoy Tarantino's style...maybe because of the way he explores violence. Tarantino movies are better than that of Woody...hope you know?

Compare 'Inglorious Basterds, Pulp fiction, Django Unchained' to 'Midnight in Paris, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Match point'.

Woody is mainly an exceptional scriptwriter but Tarantino is very gud in many areas. Another person is David O. Russell.
I guess we are all different. I'll see Woody Allen as a better filmmaker. Christopher Waltz made me love Bersterd and Unchained a lot. Tarantino is a great director and writer but for me, Woody's better.

I know there aren't too many Woody Allen fans but for those who are fans, which of his movie(s) is(are) your best? And who are your best Woody Allen characters?

And of course, congrats to the true American artist. An honour well deserved.
TV/MoviesRe: JK Rowling To Write Harry Potter Spin-off Movies by Jayboy124: 7:54am On Sep 17, 2013
Tried watching the first Harry Potter. Slept off after about 30 minutes. Haven't tried watching another Harry Potter again.
TV/MoviesRe: Do You Like These Movies? by Jayboy124: 8:40am On Sep 10, 2013
adaobi123: Love these movies.

Revolutionary Road was good !! Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio should just get married. sad
They've got one of those platonic non-sexual love affairs since Titanic.
TV/MoviesRe: Question About Movie Making For All Nollywoodiers... by Jayboy124: 3:35pm On Jul 24, 2013
VillageBoi: Now it makes sense. That is rehashed very old stuff. Any article that's going by anything around 'Welcome To Nollywood' is seriously dated. And the 'average' Nollywood has moved on since 2007.

One of the problems we have is 'Nigeria/Nigerians' don't really record 'figures'... so it's not that easy to say what movies 'do actually' cost to make and in the last few years anything worth mentioning at all has been going the 'cinema' route...
If anyone is still doing the direct to DVD or direct to 'market traders' then the film is probably not worth watching.

I do, however, get that your initial question is valid - (roughly translated as) "How do they get paid their money?"

What Jayboy says ^ above, I guess is, what happens for that 'type' of movie.
@Villageboi na those Iweka movies me dey talk about. Not like the cinemas movies and all. Just the ones that are made for straight to VCD/DVD things.
TV/MoviesRe: Movies You Never Get Tired Of Watching by Jayboy124(op): 11:28pm On Jul 23, 2013
Midnight in Paris, Hollywood's Ending both by Woody Allen.

Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually all written by Richard Curtis.
TV/MoviesMovies You Never Get Tired Of Watching by Jayboy124(op): 11:22pm On Jul 23, 2013
I read a similar question from someone on twitter and I realized the only movies I could watch over and over regularly were either Woody Allen movies or movies written by Richard Curtis. Could you mention some of yours?
TV/MoviesRe: Who's Your Favourite ''friends'' Character? by Jayboy124: 11:10pm On Jul 23, 2013
All the characters are very cool.

Monica and Rachael are my least favorites.

Joey and Phoebe are my favorites.

If I had to pick just one, it might be Joey.
TV/MoviesRe: Question About Movie Making For All Nollywoodiers... by Jayboy124: 10:59pm On Jul 23, 2013
Josephite1: The average film cost between US 17,000 and $23000. Timewise, the movie is made in a week. Nationally 150000 Straight to DVD movies are sold. The US cost of a Nigerian movie is $2. So $2 x 150,000 = $300,000. Granted this is the average (NOT EVERY MOVIE), but it seems like you would have a small profit if you take out percentages. My question is since many Nigerian movies are made fast and does not have a large number of staff, who collects the profit? Who distributes it?
A producer can make a film for $5,000 and sell for $15,000 to a marketer. Then the marketer does the mass production and all that, then takes whatever profit he makes.

It's just like the way a big production company goes to Sundance and buys a "500 Days of Summer" kinda film. I think it works same way as in USA or any other place in the world.

VillageBoi: Lol. Yeah but no one cares or wants to see any Nollywood classic 'razzies'... people need to stop making that utter garbage.
10k for a movie ko, movie ni.
You can make an honest and good film with 10k dollars in Nigeria na. Considering how cheap labour is here.
TV/MoviesRe: Question About Movie Making For All Nollywoodiers... by Jayboy124: 7:21am On Jul 22, 2013
speedyboi: 10,000 naira? Can that amount make a short film sef?! undecided

TV/MoviesRe: Question About Movie Making For All Nollywoodiers... by Jayboy124: 7:55pm On Jul 21, 2013
VillageBoi: My guy I no sabi but at the prices OP mentioned (10K)... e no really go fit pass sub-standard film (especially if na Naija film)
Looooooool.

But in reality, you could make a Nollywood classic with that considering our 'normal' cinema Nollywood films cost probably between 10 - 50 million. Not sure of the figures but you get where I'm going, right?
TV/MoviesRe: Who Remembers This Movie ??? (see Pic) by Jayboy124: 9:16pm On Jul 18, 2013
Everyone loves Titanic. Even the very first Nollywood 'love' film copied the painting scene.
TV/MoviesRe: Question About Movie Making For All Nollywoodiers... by Jayboy124: 9:08pm On Jul 18, 2013
Is that dollars or naira?

@villageboi - Is p0rn cheaper than non-p0rn?

Lmao.....make him carry rubbish format reach kunle or Izu side if them no go chase am with broom.

Sholay, make we just vamoose from this thread. Its obvious the poster is not looking for our kinda 'contribution'.
How many scripts do those kinda producers/directors buy in a year? One or two? Or more?
TV/MoviesRe: Please Where Can I Find A Sample Nollywood Script by Jayboy124: 6:48am On Jul 15, 2013
If you wanna make it fast without knowing anyone, study the two formats - Nollywood and Hollywood.

A lot of Nollywood films don't do the whole 90 pages and Hollywood formatting stuff.

So you don't waste your time writing what people won't understand.
TV/MoviesRe: Nollywood In The Future by Jayboy124: 8:47pm On Jul 06, 2013
Independent films.

Films like Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks etc.
RomanceRe: Guys, Can U Marry A Girl That Has Slept With Your Friend? by Jayboy124: 8:36am On Jul 05, 2013
If it's the kinda friend that'll probably be your bestman or that sort of thing, then it'll be pretty awkward. "The bestman has shaagged the bride before", that's not the kinda toast or whispering you would want for a wedding.

Again if it's not a close friend, then it'll probably be a lot easier.
FamilyRe: Are You Feeling Suicidal? Come Here First! (part 2) by Jayboy124: 8:08am On Jul 05, 2013
Nice topic. I always try to talk to people going through sad times or depression. I'm kinda like a shrink, Kevin Spacey style. Haven't quite met anyone who had suicidal tendencies though.

Like people have already mentioned, when someone's depressed, it's just best to find someone to talk to. A friend. An ex. A relation. A church leader. Never go through sad/depressing/hard times without having someone to talk to. If you wanna cry while talking to the person, please cry well. Don't ever think it's best bottling up your problems and going through them alone. (Make sure it's someone you trust enough.)

Another thing I have discovered that helps is taking up another hobby. Learn some new game, scrabble, chess etc. Take up a new sport like tennis, badminton, football. Make a new friend. Travel a little. Just do something fun you haven't done in your life or you haven't done in a long time.

Even I sometimes need someone to talk to.
Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: Why Are Guys So Fast In Dropping Their Bbm Pin?? by Jayboy124: 8:58pm On Jul 04, 2013
prettyynx: Hi yall... I'm tryin to start up a bbm group that would be filled wit total fun, flirts and nutty people..
But to my surprise I've had like 15guys dropped their bbm pin and not a single lady..

The Question is dat...

R the ladies really proving their getting more matured and serious minded?
Or

R the ladies coding themselves.?
Or
R the ladies simply forming ??

Meanwhile why r the guys so in a rush to flirt?

#TheArena
An average guy who drops his pin either wants just f**k or just virtual flirting. That's not what an average girl wants. I guess that's why it doesn't make sense for a girl to drop her pin.

TV/MoviesRe: Teens Revolution In Nollywood. by Jayboy124: 1:19pm On Jun 28, 2013
@Villageboi don talk everything.

Make a short. If the investment isn't coming, then better start searching for recognition. There are lots of contests and festivals around now. So get on board.

Find a muse, write a short film of one or two pages.
