CareerRe: Any HSE Professionals In The House? by JayEntaur(m):
OmaniPadmeHum:
It would not be fair if I start giving you such details.

The interview will be based on what the company does as an Oil and Gas Company. Their activities dictate their HSE Management System. Their HSE Management system dictates their HSE KPIs and Task and Targets. These HSE KPIs and Task/Targets dictate their daily/routine activities and specialized activities. It is the daily/routine and non routine activities that they want to make sure you can handle and occupy a position for.

If I tell you, Go and Learn the principles of SIMOPS/COMOPS etc... how do I know the services that the company offers requires an elaborate management system for SIMOPS/COMOPS?

The best thing is to try to know what the company is into, their HSE needs based on their activities. How technical is the company? What do they do in the Oil and Gas Value Chain? What are their activities and the HSE Risks in their activities. You can also try to be grounded in HSE Topics like these and more:

-Your basic principles (this is why we should always read and update our knowledge in the fundamental principles of the profession)
-Your HSE Statistics and their interpretation
-Your HSE Audits and Inspection Principles/processes
-Your conversance with Local and Internet regulations (EGASPIN, 2002, MOSR, 1997) and other international standards.
- Conversance with HSE report structure,Communication/presentation etc.
- General structure of the HSE Discipline and how each component falls into place.
- Your work order system (JHA, Work Permits)
- Safety Meetings..Tool box Talks, PEP talks etc.
- Contractor Safety Management
-Your conversance with ISO 14001, 31000 and 45000. Others like IEC 61508 etc..
- Safety culture programs creation and implementation e.g. like "icare" of Chevron; Goal Zero of Bristow etc.
-Emergency response system
-

I MEAN WHERE DO I START FROM? THESE THINGS YOU DO NOT KNOW IN A HURRY. Unfortunately, preparation is done right from the first day you started the profession. It is quite difficult to tell you what to focus on.

I don't just want to list various areas so it doesn't seem I am showing off as some have privately accused me.

in many instances, even when you get to know the company and you try to predict their needs, they could ask you things that aren't even related. During my interview I was asked to talk about the company. Can you imagine that? Perhaps they looked at my CV and felt slightly intimidated or perhaps the interviewers were not even HSE Professionals. But I am always armed and ready HSE Wise. I am always reading etc.
I just stumbled on this thread today & I'm glad I did. Thanks for the good work.

No!
I'm just happy for her cos the former skinny lady now has a reason to look at herself in the mirror a million times, smile, take selfies then upload them on social media n get so many "likes". She wouldn't have been able to achieve this in her former skinny self. Guess she must be happy now, so we should be happy for her too, it's not easy.
She forgot to tell us that it was the scriptural quotations she used to complement her exercise regimen that gave her the new physique. I'm sure that's the second part of her story she didn't mention.
It's called sarcasm, man.

jieta:
oya tell us the real gist
If you are conversant with the workings of the judicial system it's quite easy to figure out what likely transpired.

1) The accused guy fought with someone & stabbed him with a broken bottle (forget that talk of the shovel broke the bottle & the broken bottle now pierced the other guy).

He might or might not be telling the truth when he said twas in self defense (that's for DPP & the Court to decide).

2) When you report a criminal issue to the Police & it's charged to Court, it then becomes THE STATE (caps emphasis) vs The Accused person(s), & not you, The Complainant vs The Accused.

What this means is that the Case won't be thrown out of Court just because you've settled with the Complainant.

The Magistrate might use his discretion to strike out the matter when you plead you guys have settled (that's on a lesser charge like assault, affray, disturbing the peace etc), but this is not a given. Remember since it's a criminal offence, it's now the Government prosecuting the matter, & not you an individual.

3) Attempted murder is a serious charge.
The Magistrate Court can't handle the Charge hence it has to wait for advice from DPP to know the next line of action.
If the DPP says the little man has no case to answer, he'll be set free & let go. But if otherwise, the case proceeds to the High Court for trial.

4) If he was charged with assault, it would have been easier for the Court to strike out the case on both parties reaching settlement.

I suspect what happened was that after taking care of the Complainant, the Accused's family didn't "discuss" sufficiently with The Police hence the matter went to Court, & on the more serious charge of attempted murder.

Alternatively, maybe the guy is a regular at the Station & they decided to let it go to Court to make him learn that there are consequences to certain actions.

The truth is that it's always easier to stay outta trouble than to ameliorate the attendant consequences.
Remember this next time you wanna lose your temper & fight someone over something you won't even remember in a couple of months to come.

I mentioned ntel, seeing they have an unlimited(quite) plan for 10k. Once you have your smartTV, you can stream live sports, stream/download latest movies ( you can also get a netflix plan by the way), there are apps to download (depends on the OS of your TV). Allso, if yours is running on android, you can also play games on it, with your wireless joystick.....the possibilities are endless.

All my mate in Lagos does is stream YouTube all day.

And then of cos, we always need the internet....so using one stone to kill two birds..... as long as madam won't complain about missing big brother and the like..lol
Oh OK, now I get it.

My TV's OS is Tizen. It's a Samsung.

I don't think Ntel is available for my location yet tho. I'll probably give it a try with Smile.

Thanks.

UPDATE

Hello everyone. I decided to stay quiet all this while just to be sure before putting down these. In my last update, i mentioned the guy contacted me through someone who claimed she was a nairalander that wanted to help. He said he was going to pay some part of the money the following week which was last week Wednesday, with the condition that I have to first apologise to him, then i should pull down this thread. I told him to pay up first and I then i'd do the needful and not the other way round. Up till now, i haven't heard anything from him. Today makes it 2 weeks. I tried to reach out to the nairalander he used to contact me, but she didnt respond.

So, i have decided not to use any form of force. I really don't have all the energy and time for that, especially in a country as ours where everything is complicated. With that, i have decided to let it all go. I have counted it as my loss, perhaps a price to pay for my mistake. So that i can focus on how to pay the real owner his money. U might call me silly, but I'm glad I'm able to show everyone here the kind of person he truly is, and good the Internet never forgets.

Thanks everyone for ur various contributions, i truly appreciate. And thanks to the mod that helped push this to the FP. I wish u all a happy new year in advance.

zoba88:
As shared by Tony.......

'Good day my fellow DPA members.... Here is a cry for justice and i need all your supports and assistance in any way you guys can.

My Name is Okorodudu Anthony Ejomafuvwe, I hail from ughelli north local government, Delta state....

Here is the complaint i have to report to the DPA....

I visited a friend in Ghana called TONY IGBIWU and i've stayed with him now for a month and 3 weeks, i went there for 3months vacation. My eldest brother stays here too but i decide to stay with him. When i entered ghana, i located the nearest police station and made them aware of my presence in the country, i showed them my Identity Card as a uniform man that i am in my country Nigeria. And for the past 2weeks now, his wife has been acting funny and been asked me to always give her space which i did. I was driving the wife along Spintex road in ghana and she told me that she will black-mail me in the country and i laughed about it, and told her it won't happen and she replied saying "WE SHALL SEE"
The husband has two houses in ghana, 1 is at Spintex road and the other at Teshe Rasta Police Post. He has upto 8 boys under him. His Uncle is the Chief Judge in Asaba, Delta state.

One of the boys in his other house at Spintex called Julius also had issues with the wife too, and i keep telling boy that boy to go and apologize to the wife because she and her husband are good people and he shouldn't do anything to offend them. And the boy yield to my advice, and tried making peace with the wife but she kept laying courses on the boy. When the same boy told me, i asked him to calm down and wait till the husband return from Nigeria so that all issues will be sorted out.

The husband returned but no issue was discussed. Just yesterday, the husband traveled to Nigeria and the wife went to her shop. Few hours later, the wife drove in and some other boys and they brought out that same Julius from the car, they've beaten him up and naked him, i came down stairs and asked what happened that warrant such beating on that boy, and before i could complete my statement they faced me and they started beating me up with all sort of things. Some of the things they used was Bottle, Shovel, Ply wood, Cable Wires, Broken Tiles. I begged for my life and God helped me out. All conversation i had with that boy is on whatsapp and my phone is with the wife even as we speak. I was able to remove some pieces of bottles from my head while i was bathing. The wife took a video coverage of all what happened yesterday and it has been more than 24hours now, but the Ghanian police hasn't done anything yet about the case reported to them.

The name of the wife is Elo, she was the winner of Miss Delta, 2010. I've reported to the police but they know him too well, he do give them some tips and because of that, nothing has been done about the issue.
His wife's mother stayed at the ending of Oba group in Udu road, ovwian delta state.
He always lodged at Best Western Hotel at Udu road, Mofor.

Sir Justice must be made. The other boy that was also beaten has been locked in one of the rooms inside the house. I was able to get hold of my computer and send my Eldest Brother a message on facebook and he sent people to come rescue me out of the house.
Sir Justice must be made. I did not steal from him, nor do i have anything to do with his wife but he treated me this way. I have rescued him from lots of police case in Nigeria, and when i visited him, he decided to treat me this way. Sir justice must be made. I strongly need the intervention of the DPA
Mr Tony Igbiwu always say that when a man has money, he is never scared of problems and now he brought those same words to me. I won't let him go with this sir. If the Law cannot do anything, then nature will take its course.

But first i need the intervention of the DPA.... Thank you and God bless you sir.
Some of the names of the boys that did this are; Timothy (His username on facebook is DB Paris Teenine), Silver, Rawlins, Samuel and Tabansii (His username on facebook is Chif Mena Tabansii)

I will attach the man's photo and some of the boys that did this, i could not get the pictures of some of them'

Yeah, right. It's not rocket science, that HC will win. I, too, could have easily predicted that.

I remember he predicted, a couple of years back, that a bald man (Arjen Robben) would score against Chelsea in the UCL final & Chelsea would lose to Bayern Munich. How did that end up?

If he wants me to start believing his predictions, let him do this simple one: predict the 4 EPL teams that would finish in the top 4, at the end of the season, & in what order.

Car TalkRe: Share Your First Car Bashing Experience. by JayEntaur(m): 10:39am On Sep 26, 2016
This was a coupla years back. I had just got my car & was still learning. That day was my very first time of leaving off-roads and driving through major roads. I had successfully navigated all the busy roads & was back to my street. Just some metres away from my house, I encountered a slight traffic build-up of cars on the opposite direction. On getting close to me, the first car coming from the other direction suddenly turned towards me, to avoid a pothole, and to avoid us hitting I, in turn, turned my steering away from him (my mistake). But problem was at that exact spot a beamer was parked off the road. I ended up rear-ending the beamer while the other car sped off into the sunset. 2nd mistake was that I didn't have a learner sign. But thankfully his car suffered little damage while mine bore most of the brunt of the impact. I begged him & he let me go, God bless his soul. I have paid his act forward, severally, since then.

For yo goofed b●ai●, Alamco did almost anything u r seeing in Bayelsa; from the capital to the creeks.
Alamco pleaded guilty after 2yrs on the ground that there was plan to reduce his prison term to just 2yrs and since he has spent 2yrs will be let go. It was a political solution from Yara'Dua. So tell me about Awolowo Alamco whose ordeal was political. Alamco was set up by Yo chimpanzee brother because of his 3rd term ambition and his stand in favour of true federalism. He shouted at yo incest brother in a NEC meeting. He is lion.
Tell me any governor from yo state who did what ds man did in Bayelsa. When he became governor, bayelsa was like a camp, he built both capital and stomach infrastructure, there was just 1road in Bayelsa from the capital to the creeks, there was no single school except secondary and primary, there was no light because Bayelsa was not connected to the national grid, there was no house of assembly complex, no state secretariat, nothing.
He built roads, houses, schools, hospitals, electricity, water until subsequent governors stopped it, name it. Imagine a airport he start to almost 40% was abandoned and relocated to another place by yo new saint Sylva of apc. Alamco is and was our hero. Hate him because he is not from yo place, but I enjoined u never to come to this region and say bad about him because u won't live to tell d story.
