Nigeria don't value her doctors whereas other countries like the UK treat them like heroes. |
HUMILIATION OF HEALTH WORKERS ON TRANSIT IN OSUN STATE: AN UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION. As a background information, this happened to a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. We were contemporaries during residency here at OAUTHC. He currently runs his own Specialist Hospital here in Ife. His wife is also a Senior Medical Officer at the State Hospital, Oke-Ogbo, Osun State. The brutalization of this couple calls for a deep introspection among Doctors, who are the De facto leaders of the health sector. The current restriction of movement is for health reasons. It is therefore perfectly rational that health workers should be given free access to movement as directed by the President. The trend over the last 10 days has however been disturbing. It started with the CP of Lagos state declaring that ID cards will not be sufficient for health workers. They must all carry their duty rota along with them whenever they are on the road. I was happy that his errors were promptly brought to the notice of the public and he tendered an open apology. It's common knowledge that health workers often self-sacrifice their time to offer help to many patients in need beyond the regular working hours, or even when they are not on call, for no extra pay. The CP was about to tread a wrong part before he was cautioned. Kudos to NMA Lagos and the CP as well. Next is the Uyo case. Dr Daniel Edet of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital was on his way to work when he was beaten by a Police Sergeant till his bone was fractured. Imagine the force it will require to fracture the bone of an adult male! What a way of preventing the spread of corona virus! It took the intervention of the Akwa Ibom NMA and ARD to rescue him and resolve the issue. The poor Dr is having his fractured forearm mended by the Orthopaedic Surgeons of the hospital presently. In response, the CP of Akwa Ibom tendered an open apology and revealed that the erring policeman has been demoted from the rank of a Sergeant to a Corporal. I pray the Dr involved recovers fully, not only from the fracture, but also from the emotional trauma he was subjected to. Today mark's another sad episode in the ongoing saga, with the physical assault of a Consultant and his wife. It takes humane feeling to understand the inhumanity meted out to this couple. I can't even begin to imagine how unkind it is to put two Doctors behind bars for being on the road, while the police team danced away to the ring tunes of the Drs' phones as patients in need of their attention rang them endlessly! It took the intervention of a pregnant patient that needed surgery to physically come to the Police station to secure the temporary release of the couple! We will await the response of Osun State NMA to this. It is bothersome that at a time when the citizens of other countries are declaring their health care workers as heroes, clapping for them every week, with corporate organisations providing free rides, offering to feed them at work and granting rebates on items purchased, the Nigerian police has chosen to brutalize the Nigerian health care workers physically and emotionally. I think the National leadership of the NMA should speak to this. It should no longer be left to state chapters to handle. I also think that the National leadership of the Nigerian Police should address this as well. Doctors and other health care workers are already endangered by the ongoing pandemic. The super-imposed burden of physical assault is unnecessary and stands condemned. A stitch in time saves many. royalads:Placement for internship as always been this way only that it wasn't this bad. The unemployment he's referring to is post nysc employment and not internship. |
This is gross misinformation. He could have said 40% are underemployed but unemployed is a no no and a big lie. I have never seen a serious unemployed doctor in Nigeria except if he or she is picky about jobs, then salary or disadvantaged about locations if outside the cities i. e Lagos and Co. The reason why I might agree they are underemployed is because they are not being paid their worth in most private hospitals irrespective of the profit the hospital makes and the cause of this is still the doctors, they own the hospital. |
We're facing Germany next. Don't you think it would have been honourable to go home other than getting Germany to trash us dirty? |
Tinubu boys. Igbobians. Noble Nigerians. |
Very sad |
Brezeale is very poor defensively and he could easily get hit that's why those in the know about boxing gave him no chance against Wilder. With Wilder it only takes one punch. One lucky punch. To beat Wilder you need to know how to use your jab and it's a kind of jab you do while stepping back just like Tyson Fury's jab. Then be careful with countering his own jab because the only combination Wilder has is a one two. If you take that away you'll frustrate him and expose his amateurish skills. He knocked Breazeale out by feighing a jab then Breazeale tries to counter him and this opened him up for a straight wild right from Wilder. Another mistake Breazeale made was that he stood in a point while not throwing a punch of his own. As a boxer you're meant to be a moving target and not a static one who could get easily hit. |

Hi |
Amosun wanted to be a kingmaker like Jagaban without understanding the laws required in being a political powerhouse like Tinubu. Just like Tinubu, you must be perceived as humble with many foot soldiers ready to die for you and allowing your enemies to win some while you count your loses and restrategise to win the future battle. Tinubu lost in Ondo and Kogi, did he make much fuss about it, no. He influenced the choice of the next chairman. When last did you hear of Oyegun? There are some battles you don't even fight because even though you win, you will never win the war. He didn't choose his battles wisely, how can you want to fight the National Leader, Vice President and a former Governor of your state, Oshoba after haven lost the primaries to their camp. Amosun is too proud just like Ajimobi only that Ajimobi don't exhibit his pride towards the elite but common man. Amosun jumped to Facebook to insult Tinubu after the Ogun state Primaries and that was when I knew he's lost it. Comparing himself to Tinubu that they started politics the same time hence he is not afraid of him . Something even Baba Akande, Oshoba and many others that even started politics before Tinubu dare not say. We might be mate but if God choose to raise you beyond the rest of us then we must celebrate you. Ogun people collected his money and didn't vote him. Tinubu crushes such people to finish especially when you don't recognise his superiority in this game. Amosun would have risked losing his senate seat considering this result but for his closeness to Buhari, he won't. But bet me, he is not getting any leadership role in the senate. Sycophants were praising Saraki to high heavens then without knowing that he can only win the battle and not the war. Wouldn't he have loved to be a senator and be handpicking Kwara governor than being a one time senate president without any political power again. Even Kashamu that everybody hates still regard him a a political generallismo ![]() Moral Lesson: Stay humble and choose your battles. |

A quick poll. Who's more Fela between Falz or Burna. Like if you think Falz is the Fela of our time considering the political and societal consciousness of his songs not minding his style. Share of you think Burna boy be giving the title since its the only Nigeria musician IPO who has the true Fela tune. This Generation has two felas in the persons of Falz and Burna |

Jagaban is very smart. Even though he might have suggested it, he knows its not wise to publicly accept it. Saying he has no such power is a big lie, Ajimobi is an outgoing Governor who lost the senate seat. |
johnbuck81:The 50 million was a scam. I imagine me offering you 50 million and asking you to sign within 2 days when for a fact the 59 million wasn't offered by Wilder but Frank Warren which will make AJ fight on BT sport whereas AJ is contracted to fight on Skye. Let's even assume the 50 million was real, at least we will sit and discuss terms but team Wilder didn't give room for that but sold the story of wanting the fight. Wilder only built his profile on AJ name. Many of us wouldn't have known him had he been he didn't start calling out AJ which was a smart move. |
Jaqenhghar:Smiles...Dubois didn't floor AJ o but honestly he is a good prospect. He is one of the top 5 prospects. He is better than Efe Ajagba if you ask me as Efe has never fought a decent contender or even a good journey man but tomato cans. Shinley Finckle wants to pad his record like Wilder. |
otipoju:Thanks Bro. It just gets me furious when people make this claim. Most boxing fans have seen the smoke screens of wilder and the cherry picking of Fury that went bad. What do you think about this Jarell Big Baby Miller fight? I think it's not going to be as easy as people think o. He's got some engine and he keeps coming at you. Hope AJ won't gas out if it gets to latter rounds? |
4ckTOTO:Name one fighter who has fought half the quality opponent AJ has fought except Whyte? Another Casual spotted |
obontami:You are a casual that is why you don't know Jarell Big Baby Miller |
