Cunninlingus: Lagos is by far the most ugly and dirtiest place on the planet
so am sane afterall, I though am delusional to think am the only one who notice that. lagos is as dirty and ugly as Aba. the debris filed gutters, the potholes, the stagnant pool of mosquito ridden smelly water in the middle of the streets. we should have one solace, both cities are not as bad as port Moresby. you know na, "naija no dey carry last"

vislabraye: @jaymichael. If OBJ is the best president this country has produced, then we are doomed.
Let's just talk about the presidents we've had after the military. Him, Yar Adua which didn't last long and GEJ. What happened to the $12b spent on electricity?
Forget OBJ. He should be cooling off in jail.
I have explained earlier that money was actually spent importing so many electrical equipments for the integrated power projects. I am a clearing agent and my company and that of my friends were involved in clearing some of these equipment all over the country. I personally escorted containers to NEPA Office in Ajah and other places. ask the subsequent governments what happened to the equipment and the integrated power project obasanjo initiated.?

Cunninlingus: You hit the nail. The problem with Nigeria and Nigerians is that we see capital projects as the only meaningful form of development.

They have wasted resources to build roads for a people who have more donkeys and camels plying the road than cars.

This is so opposite with the governors in the Niger-Delta who know that they need to also develop a neglected region and also to improve the general welfare and being of their peoples.

The Niger state governor (the biggest buffoon of em all) wants to build another airport in Minna where there is an existing aerodrome with one of the longest runways. The thief servant also wants to build a huge capacity stadium for a state with crumbling education infrastructure.
The Bauchi state government is currently constructing another runway and the question I want to ask is for who? A state that has an illiteracy rate of over 80% coupled with abject widespread poverty.
Take a look at Akwa Ibom state, 5years ago if you wanted a househelp chances are she/he will be from that state, majority of the okada men in Lagos were from that region but today these positions are filled by both northerners and middle-belt indigenes. The niger delta states have spent huge money not only in trying to both catch up on infrastructure but by also empowering their own citizens. In due time, infrastructures like roads and portable water wil not be the emphasis but social re-engineering. This is were the north can never catch up.
you have a point but the topic is about celebrating the beauty of Nigeria, we should not bring the issue of which region or state is more developed vis a vis infrastructural and social developments.

Nigeria is a beautiful land. just came back from a friends village in Itele Ogun state. the road is neat. the air crisp and clear. fresh tropical smell. the forest road to the stream. the very cold stream. I especially enjoyed the struggle I had trying to climb a cocoa tree to get a ripe cocoa pod. did not succeed though but I did manage to get a nice pod from a smaller tree, nothing taste as delicious as the fresh seed. And most importantly, no mosquitoes like Lagos.

following up on obasanjo's stand that the present government did not build on the foundation laid down by his administration, I can talk about the issue of power, so many billions were spent on that sector but still no light. it his not his fault, I can tell you that during obasanjo era, the integrated power project that was created. contracts were awarded to different contractors to procure and deliver electricity equipment, I know that some of these equipments were brought in cos I am a clearing agent and we have delivered some equipments at NEPA ajah and wharf road offices. I know some of my friends whose company were involved in the clearing of these equipments. since obasanjo left office, what became of these equipment, they are left to rot away and the integrated power project killed. so many billions wasted. All men has their flaws but let us see that you are doing something to achieve progress. obasanjo brought in ngozi okonjo, dora akuiyili, Soludo and other intellectuals to help move the nation forward. if obasanjo is not a man of honour, he would not have handed over power to the elected civilian government when he was a military head of state. he still remain Nigeria's best president.

Rocktation: Death by Protocol

In 19th century Siam, it was absolutely forbidden for a commoner to touch the queen. To break this rule carried the death penalty. One day Queen Sunandha Kumariratana was in a boat which capsized, plunging her into a river. Though there were many people who might have come to her aid it would have meant their own death to touch the royal body. She died at the age of 19 along with her daughter.
stupid law, deadly consequence.

those that did not die disgraceful death, they were disgraced from office. or they die in helicopter crash. the evil that people commit these days turns out to be that which lay the foundation for their death.
