just as you may have noticed https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-501558.0.html, the cheapest N1,000 plan is globacom, and it works really well. more, you should expect more from them. it'll even work with your phone. I' finding it disturbing that etisalat works well. its possible though, where i stay in festac, it is a no go area. glo,mtn and zain works well in festac, lagos. |
with this always micro thingy, you can turn your smartphone to do some cool stuffs that the over-prized and over-rated blackberry does. Except for the bb chat that has got many hooked and addicted. |
I have been with Mtn for 6 years, the best they've done is give me quality coverage and reliable service plus call clarity. Internet-wise, i'll give it to globacom. If you want an internet option that will serve you the best, don't settle for less go for globacom. Forget about trying to buy the mtn modem and unlocking it. I'll give you a universal modem that works with all networks for N8,500 ONLY. call me on +2348023119038 or send me a mail/text. |
get an etisalat line and use the offer of free minutes to that one number. Or get a glo sim, everytime you load, 1k you will get 150, you can add your dear love in your family and friend and call her/him with the credit. or get some of your friends together and go for glo VPN. or just join the sembic network. google it out. |
tunnex190:it depends on the make of your mtn fastlink. I have confirmed and found out that the mtn fastlink huawei 156g will never work with a glo sim if you unlock it. It will only work if you change the firmware to mobilepartner and then use a sort of ATEX command which is on huawei website. I saw an engineer in ikeja doing it. toba:depending on the make of your etisalat modem. you may take a risk and try the 500 worth by sending 10 in a msg to 127. that is how some of us find out this stuff. wish this helps. @Ayire, you're wellcome, and I'm glad i could be of help. |
Ifedisky: lynxnoon:It still works, just like he's told you. I activated one today.mong the you should have at least N1,050 naira. cos on glo, if you are on N0 balance it wont browse or connect. When i discovered that this thing works, I asked a glo official at gloworld PPL/CONOIL filling station, he told me vehemently nothing like that. If you send 1 to 127, it will be among the options you'll get. 13 to 127 to activate. |
Ayire:after putting the correct APN, username and password, you'll have to set it as default browsing. when you do that it would work. This seting will work with your 5800. the default setting for the 5800 will be glo direct, so delete it, and activate the gloflat. or you could just switch it to the first number, it is possible that the glosecure/glodirect is the default setting automatically. so check it and try again. And do you stay in Lagos? May be you can bring it so that I can fix it for you. |
Ayire:what is the make of your phone and what have you tried? post 'em here let me see and I will tell you waht to do. |
omoboy08:to activate glo line for internet follow this process: Send ACTIVATE in a text message to 127. after that you can choose from; Always day 10 to 127 (N500 for 150mb for 24 hours) Always micro 13 to 127 (N1,000 for 150mb 30 days validity) 11 to 127 (N5,000 for 1.5Gb for 30 days validity), there is more. |
.Sharon:@sharon, it can work with your nokia e63. you need to put the right setting in your internet setting. And that will be; APN: gloflat username: flat password: flat and then you will activate it and set it as your default setting, then you can go on to ACTIAVTE the bundle (sending 13 in a text message to 127. be sure to have at least N1 in your account. |
yahoo!:@yahoo, it will work at a fast speed if you connect it through your phone if in the spec of your phone it support UMTS/HSDPA/3G. I actually tried the glo thing with nokia 5800 yesterday. I deleted the other settings that got into the phone automatic, and inputed the profile for 3G internet. APN gloflat, Username flat, password flat. it was able to browse, but yes, it was not as fast as using it with a modem. but for phone it is okay. |
how many month old is the fast link? I'll give you 3.5k. But if you have the extension and the pack, I will give you 4.5k. +2348023119038. |
yahoo!:@yahoo, i knew that is a possibility, but all hope is not lost. it can still be done. do you stay in Lagos. if you do I can show you someone, who can make your modem be trully universal. option 2. go to huawei's website and check how you can make your modem work with glo sim. glo sim makes use of NDIC (only Gos knows what that means -am just a teacher by training), find out waht that means and get yourself sorted out. i'm still trying to solve this problem myself too. but it should work on your phone. try it. that is how some of us know this things we try them out. I would have tried it too, but i do not have a smartphone now. wish you well. |
i knew i was not going to rest until i cracked this mtn modem stuff. i got it working. the reason it is not working is cos glo network does not see the modem as a modem, but it sees it as a wireless network or something. You'll have to go to huawei's wesite, get a firmware that will overwrite the mtn's firmware, then you'll write a code under, , (i'm still receiving the training), but i saw it working. Once I am done with my research, am sure I will make it available here. I yanked open a new mtn modem, that is what I am using to perform this operation. Lots of trial and error, I won't stop till i get it. Does anyone want to team up with me on this? mail me, lets work on it together. when we do crack it, we should get paid for the solution. |
yahoo!:APN: gloflat username: flat password: flat, hope it is a universal modem proper. if it is MTN fastlink turn universal forget it, it may not work. I mean the huawei E156. have fun bro. |
i read this review about nokia e5, the new addition to the e-series family, it kind off sound like it'll be great. i have been considering going for e72, i may just go for it, kindly share your experience using it. |
base 1:@base 1, you can use anyone of the APN you have, either glo 3g or glo mobile internet. But make sure you have at least N1 for it to work. Yes, this plan woorks for phone too. I have noticed too that many of those at glo, mtn, zain or etisalat office normally feed us with informations that are not appropriate or may not have a clue about. To activate glo always micro send 13 in a text message to 127. to check internet balance send info to 127 Snowwy: |
4llerbuntu:yes, i market good. if i were with them am sure i will know more than this. meanwhile, i use all four networks on my universal modem. soory, I'm not with glo. If you don't find the info useful, leave it. let those who it is good news to use it. Thanks for opening your mind. |
tivta: tobidaflava:Yes it is true, it is valid for 30days, but if you finish your data before then you will have to load another to enjoy internet access. Remember there is also 1.5GB for N5,000. I loaded one yesterday, and I have loaded another today. if u know your need is much just go for N5,000. And N10,000 will give you 5GB! isn't that awesome? |
its not 24hours o! it is one month |
I don't know if glo intentionally does not want to advertise it or what? I have just discvered and even used it. Glo overs a new package called; ALWAYS MICRO, a new inclusion into the glo family. the Always micro will give you 150mb data valid for 1 month at N1,000 only. For those who want to spend little on their internet and do not wawnt to spend so much money, enjoy glo. More so, if you have 3g coverage at your end you can get up to 2000kbps internet speed (it offers fast dowload too and does video streaming well). for all you who are not ssatisfied with your mtn modem consider it. You can as well use a universal modem, use mtn 2.5k for nite plan plus glo 1k for one month 30days plan for 150mb. you can decide to do your downloaad at night and small small browsing and email and chat during the day, gbam! |

guys, Has anyone been able to crack the MTN huawei modem so that it can work with glo sim? The mtn zte modem works with glo sim, but the huawei e156g has refused to work with glo sim. On the other hand the GLO e156g modem works preety well with all four gsm carriers in nigeria. Lets see how we can make this work. Apart from mtn, glo works well too. In addition glo has lunched Always micro. Always micro gives you 150mb data for N1,000, this will be valid for 30days, so, you do not have to be in a rush to finish it. unlike zain that can slow and gives you only 100mb for N1,000. Lets crack the mtn ch**. |
People go like free o! imagine the offers I am getting! anyway na market sha, you gree or you no gree? The tread is closed, the modem is gone. Thanks those that showed interest. |
puskin:Cudos to you puskin, plus it is a serious give away, am giving away the starcomms fone that i bought too. You'll do yourself some good and check me out fast, am in Lagos, Festac. |
what I like about them is that it gives a feeling that something new is happening. But do you know what that is called; ILLUSION. |
@poster, please expand your view. You are having a single vieew of the matter. Some can't get a chunk of cash to pay like you, I also understand that some of the postpaid do not allow you to load a small denomination recharged card, e.g; MTN. If you get into debit, mtn will cut you off, when you pay with recharged card, it will take another 30mins to 24hours before you are reconnected. for mtn you'll have to pay a monthly charge of N1,500 to go on postpaid. For zain, you'll have to go to their office, provide a bank statement that shows you wil lways be able to pay at the end of the month. the tariffs are really cheap, the truth is if you do nnot have a need to make so much calls for your business, forget postpaid. you may end up spending alot just 'cos you got on postpaid. |
why are we so resilient in naija? can we start protesting this stuff online here? Can we do something collectively that will make them want to listen to us? Even if you unlock mtn modem, it'll never work with GLO, @poster, you are not alone. they'll never tell you they did it so, I'm sure it is intentional. but, if you unlock a glo modem it will work with mtn and the other gsm networks. If you are thinking of buying a modem go for GLO. they have cheap tariffs and their 500daily plan will give you 150mb as against 50mb that the other networks will give you. Glo rocks as long as you have the 3.5G covering at your end. MTN may provide a better service, but the curn us alot. too much wayo wayo. Get glo modem and use it for mtn if you must or get a universal modem, you can get it in ikeja or get it from me. (08023119038) |
okay now, or many of them do not want us to know that they are palying sharp ones. it may be okay to get money for doing it, at least you use your cash to browse the internet before you stumble into it here. but be fair in your charges, and charge only those that are not here in nairaland. You may make them feel you've exploited them when they eventually find out it is free somewhere on the internet. keep your integrity, it is called Social capital. Many people spoil their social capital on the internet and when they need to do more business they would ahve soild their integruty |
