The 6th edition of Africa International Film Festival kicked off yesterday with an opening ceremony at the new Filmhouse Imax in Lekki Phase1 . It was well attended by movie industry bigwigs such as RMD, Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Kunle Afolayan, Falz, AY Comedian, Oc Ukeje, Adesua Etomi amongst others.

The ceremony which kicked off yesterday, will run from, Sunday 13th to 19th of November.

TripleMG boss, Ubi Franklin is moving on with his life despite the controversy that has trailed his marriage with actress Lilian Esoro over the past month.

The young entrepreneur who just opened a lavish restaurant and bar in Lekki called Tilt Terrace, introduced a Karaoke session which he had to test run himself. The 30-year-old who hails from Cross River state, shared footage of him singing romantic songs, from music acts like, Celine Dion, John Legend, Brandy amongst others.

Ubi and wife Lilian have been apart for the past month following reports of their marriage crashing barely a year after walking down the aisle.

Quilox club has officially released a press statement of their own version of the case between their bouncer and music star, Oritsefemi with photo and video evidence.

At about 2am on Saturday, 13th of Nov. 2016, Oritsefemi came into Quilox without prior reservations or table bookings. Tables are allocated to customers who have made prior paid table bookings in advance of their arrival except such customer is a patron or member of the club.

However, Oritsefemi who did not fall into any of the categories above approached a patron's table-of-six, and pleaded to be accommodated, with the understanding that other guests of the said patron were still been expected.

In a surprising turn of events, Oristsemi who was drinking from the patrons bottle, attempted to sit 8 of his guests at the table, the surprised patron strongly rejected such effrontery and invited the bouncer guarding the floor to intervene.

The bouncer politely approached Oritsefemi and told him the patrons guests were still being expected, but Oristefemi, in a fit of unprovoked rage, slapped the bouncer then proceeded to breaking a glass in his hand and stabing him in the eye.

The scene quickly became rowdy as other customers rushed to the table and confronted the artiste for his violent behavior, our security team quickly stepped in to salvage the situation by carrying Oristefemi out of the club.

Oristefemi faced by an enraged crowd outside and perhaps realizing the gravity of his offense pretended to collapse. The artiste and the bouncer were subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital

The bouncer affected later pressed charges at Bar Beach police station, where Oritsefemi accepted his offense  and pleaded for mercy, he was granted bail at 12pm on the 13th of Nov. and advised  to report back to the station on Tues. 15th of Nov. 2016.

We were hesitant to release a press statement as several well meaning people have attempted to intercede on behalf of the artiste, but after his malicious and grossly false account of the events that occured, it is only fair that we defend the integrity and ethos of our organization.

The former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida is getting set to marry, Hausa Nollywood star, Ummi Ibrahim Zeezee, according to her Instagram post.

The actress has claimed that she was in a relationship with him for some time now, notably in 2013, when she granted an interview stating that IBB loved her and that she loved him too. She had earlier hinted on Facebook that the 75-year-old former military ruler was planning to marry her but that there were things to be sorted out first.

She in her social media post, is insinuating that the wedding bells will soon ring with her cryptic message she posted this afternoon with a photo mix of herself and the Minna, Niger State born ex ruler. She took the message down less than hour after posting it, suggesting that she was not permitted to make the announcement yet.

Popular airline, Arik Air is getting called out once again for poor services by DJ Neptune.

According to him, his flight was delayed for three hours with no reasonable explanation and he also lost his DJ equipment.

The angry celebrity DJ says their representatives in Enugu don't even know if his bag will come today or tomorrow.

"Dear @flyarikair @arikair. It is not a must to do business, if you can't act right kindly pack up and stop frustrating passengers. See how passengers going to Benin almost stopped us from boarding today out of frustration, not knowing my own was on the way waiting.

You scheduled a flight to leave Lagos for Enugu by 8:30am today 11:11:16 flight No W3610, you delayed ur passengers for 3hours with no reasonabled explanation (Frustration No1) and as if that wasn't enough you flew 5% of our bags to Enugu and took the remaining 95% to Abuja.

Don't you see how HEARTLESS you guys are? (Frustration No2). I only few in to Enugu because I have an event to handle which starts by 3pm and now am here and my DJ Equipment is no where to be found after making me identifying my flight case before boarding your aircraft.

Your rep in Enugu don't even know if my bag will come today or tomorrow so why on earth did you not announce this before take off? When will #ARIKAIR stop taking people for granted? Ace Nigerian actor, Victor Olaotan survived a ghastly car crash yesterday only due to the quick response of Lagos State RRS, who were fast to get on the scene of the accident and rushed him to the hospital where his health finally stabilized after the accident left him bleeding profusely.

His friend and industry colleague, Alibaba took to his social media to thank the Lagos State Government for their quick response in saving his friends life.

He wrote;

On behalf of #victorolaotan, his family and friends, I want to specially thank the admirable spirit of the new Lagos State RRS. They saved the life of our friend yesterday by quickly responding to a distress call and came to his rescue. The Hospital also deserves to be acknowledged for accepting him without asking for a dime and working hard to stop his bleeding and stabilize him. God worked through the hands of these people. Former Kannywood star, Rahama Sadau is in the United States and has shared footage from one of the studios she is currently working with in Hollywood.

Rahama became a household name after she got into trouble with Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) for ‘hugging and cuddling’ in a music video.

Despite the controversy that trailed her ban from Kannywood, she got invited to Hollywood by Grammy Awardee Akon and Jeta Amata, one of Nigeria’s most respected filmmakers.

Rahama is believed to have left Abuja aboard Turkish Airlines to Los Angeles and her last post from ABUJA clearly shows that she was willing to take the bold step despite caution from a spiritual leader that was shared on Facebook.

She wrote on her gram;
You are valuable and irreplaceable. If you are ever told otherwise, do not believe it. Just try and be yourself even 4 ONCE!!!

Former beauty queen Regina Askia admitted in a recent post that the gown she wore to the recent Nollywood Producers Guild, in New York, was indeed controversial.

The 49-year-old nurse who hosted the occasion on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in USA, wore a green lace couture gown which she complemented with a red headgear.

Sharing the front and back views of the dress online, she said: “Yes, my dress did create a “situation” of interesting proportions. All round, the inauguration of Nollywood Producers guild was a memorable occasion.”

Regina attended the event in the company of her American husband Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Williams and her daughter, Stephanie Regina Honecker.

TunezMedia caught up with ace Photographer, Ayoka Thompson recently, the official photographer of Mary Remmy, ROK Studios.

Ayoka spoke at length about the much anticipated series, Single Ladies while sharing exclusive behind the scene images with Tunez. The popular photogenius also opened up about an ongoing legal tussle with Vanguard Allure over a copyright infringement claim.

TUNEZ: Can We Meet You

AY.T:  My name is Ayoka Thompson, I am from Osun state, I studied Dramatic Arts from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. I was born on the 26th of April; learning photography was due to one of the numerous strikes ASUU embarked on while I was schooling. I quickly realized my passion for capturing beautiful moments, things and people. I do not just take a picture; I try to make art out of every picture I take, it is like a picture is my canvas with that I can create a unique piece of art that has never been seen before. I do this by combining my knowledge in theatre arts with photography.

 


TUNEZ: How Did You Start Working In The Movie Industry

AY.T: That is very tricky, because before becoming a photographer I was an actor and an aspiring director so I started with the Yoruba speaking part of the industry. I have worked with the likes of Antar Laniyan, Muyideen Oladapo, and Tade Ogidan to mention a few. So talking about the English speaking part one day Lilian Afegbai of the Big Brother House introduced me to Emeka Duru, who is a production manager and has since helped me in my journey in Nollywood.

 
 

TUNEZ: Your Role In 'Single Ladies' Series

AY.T: I was contracted as the Photographer on set.

 

TUNEZ: We Understand That It Can Be Difficult Working With Some Of The Big Wigs in The Industry, How Has It Been Working With Mary Remmy, Mercy Aigbe, Padita Agu and the likes Behind the Scene


AY.T: It was not difficult at all, I mean all these ladies are Nollywood’s finest, talking about talents, charisma, charm, you name it. They were lovely on set coupled with the fact that I am familiar with most of them. And as a photographer we are always loved I mean people love it when they look good in pictures. And if you by chance take good pictures like I do it won’t be difficult getting along with your favorite celebrities.

For instance, it is no news that the picture of Annie Idibia I took at the “Buck Wyld n Breathless” concert went viral. Our relationships extend beyond the set because we work like a family. She gave me a VIP ticket to see the show. And recently I shot Padita Agu’s pre birthday pictures which also went viral; we had to go to Yaba, mix with the area boys just to get things done. So I really want to correct the notion that working with the big names can be difficult maybe it’s the person that has a bad character or very insensitive. This is not to say that all celebrities are perfect I just think that if people are sensitive enough they would not have issues with them because they are also human beings and are prone to bad moods and what have you.

 

TUNEZ: Can You Shed More Light On Your Lawsuit Against Vanguard Allure Magazine and Toyin Lawani's Role

AY.T: Plagiarism and copyright theft is unlawful and should be frowned at, I had approached them professionally via an email only to get the shock of my life by one Nelly Nesik who is the creative director, I was amazed at their unprofessionalism because growing up in photography their magazine was one of the magazines I wanted my pictures in, it was a standard magazine and I think these standards are going down by the day, they don’t even make the magazines in glossy papers anymore so what can you expect.

So at the end I was forced to talk to my lawyers who took necessary legal actions. Toyin Lawani was as disappointed as I was and has always supported me, she encouraged me to do the right thing because she knows how passionate and how hardworking I am. I mean we spent 3 days and nights shooting the pictures. And in addition to that, I spent countless hours retouching the pictures to perfection.

 
TUNEZ: What Inspired Your Recent Nude Shoot

AY.T: Nude is a genre of photography art and I enjoy it because you get to see the beauty in the human form. It is evident in sculptures, paintings and other forms of art so I get inspired to create my own nude art too using my own medium which is photography.

 

TUNEZ: What's Your Most Embarrassing Moment While Doing A Job

AY.T: My most embarrassing moment is shooting in front of a fast approaching train.

 

TUNEZ: Any Words For Upcoming Photographers Who Are Trying To Beat The Odds To Make A Name In The Industry

AY.T: Keep your head straight, be passionate do not panic if you are not making enough yet, you will only if you stay hungry for knowledge, quality and excellence.
