During a recent interview with Encomium Magazine, Mercy Aigbe stood by her initial mandate to support President Buhari, despite reports that Fuel price is about to go up once again. While talking about the economic challenges currently hitting individuals in the Nigerian Movie industry. Mercy had this to say; The economic situation of this country right now is very terrible. The hardship is telling on everything in the country. Even the rich are also crying now because the standard of living has gone down drastically, and that makes it very hard for me to be comfortable at the moment. A lot of things have gone up in terms of prices. Then, no electricity, fuel is very expensive and more. A lot of things have gone bad and that’s really affecting our industry. When there is no power supply, how do you expect those that buy our movies to see such movies? So, it’s not encouraging at all. Also, piracy has eaten so deep into the system, may be because people don’t have jobs and they’re just looking for other means to survive at all costs. And in the cause of that, they pirate other people’s intellectual property. A lot is going on in Nigerian movie industry. We’re just praying the situation gets better. Mavin Boss, Don Jazzy has admitted to the fact that he indeed called for the breakup of the now defunct Mo'hits group. D'banj his former partner had previously revealed in an interview with Olisa that it was Don Jazzy who wanted them to split, which led to the creation of DRB and the now popular Mavin Record. The popular producer while clearing the air that other people caused their split, in an interview with NotJustOk Tv, said Dr Sid could never have led to the breakup with D'banj. He said they were too close for anybody to come between them. Don Jazzy even went on to dare the reporters to ask Dbanj if anybody could have come between their friendship. The former West Ham striker who is also into estate business, recently acquired a brand new G wagon for himself to ads to his long list of luxurious automobiles packed in his garage. The car, a G-63 model is said to be worth $150,000 and he copped it in celebration of his return to his former club, Fenerbahce. Despite being visually impaired, Cobhams Asuquo is a talented musician, producer, and songwriter and has continued to make himself relevant in the Nigerian entertainment industry. The singer who recently covered the face of Guardian Life Magazine gave in details how he takes his time to make good music and his hopes for the Nigerian music scene. While speaking on why most Nigerians don't relate to his type of music as they do with other styles, Cobhams said; I think Nigerians are not responsive to a lot of music I feature because we have the radio, and the gate keepers control what we absorb and consider to be music. A lot of the time, what gets heavy rotation is what people want to hear on the radio, and in the clubs, and they become the standard while everything else becomes alternative. For example, Waje released a song Koko Baby with Diamond Platnumz, which is a great song that can sit anywhere with songs from Flavor or anyone else. But because it was by Waje, who people consider to be an alternative artist, it made it to alternative charts as it wasn’t considered a popular or “Jollof” song. I think Nigerians respond to what we are fed by the radio, and TV, and a lot of the people who create the music which is now considered alternative either don’t have the means or don’t know how to put it in the right spaces where they could be heard. If you think about it, Adekunle Gold, Simi, and Aramide, are people who are blessed with the opportunities and means to put their music out there and are doing great things while getting into the “Jollof space” without having to compromise. I think, our gate keepers have a role to play in introducing Nigerians to variety because music isn’t just made of Jollof music which I love and make sometimes if I absolutely must. But I also think that, radio stations, TV stations and people who control the blogger-sphere have a role to play in helping Nigerians who have different taste pallets feel a sense of inclusion but also including the rest of Nigeria to this kind of music. If you think about it, we are one the biggest consumers of ballads besides Korea and a bunch of others. For a long time, we loved Celine Dion, Brian McKnight, West Life and the rest. Drake has revealed details about an upcoming short film called “Please Forgive Me.” which will be released on September 30th. The film is expected to boost interest in his most recent album Views, which has remained No. 1 on the charts for most of the summer, until the release of the Suicide Squad soundtrack. 'Views' dropped in April but there has only been one music video from the project. The new film project which will be co-directed by Anthony Mandler, features new music by Drake's go-to producer Noah "40" Shebib and will include visuals for songs like “One Dance” and “Child’s Play". The short film will also feature stars like Nigerian afropop icon Wizkid and British vocalist, Kyla. This is not Drake's first time releasing a film in conjunction with his album.
