We never learn

Klinsmann’s first job as a coach was to be hired as team coach for Germany in 2004. And he did well.

Finidi is far more experienced than Klinsmann was.

Fantastic result, and an excellent debut for team coach Finidi George.

Finidi was a highly intelligent footballer in his heyday, so I’m not surprised that he found a way to cage the stubborn Ghanaians.

I say we give him the job full time.

Ravenna:

Innoson lack the capacity to manufacture a Rear view mirror, or a tiny Water temperature sensor on a truck.
That shiit was imported and assembled by olodos.

If you weren't a mumu you would know that is not the job of car manufacturers to manufacture the individual parts of their vehicles, but rather to SOURCE the required parts from a multiplicity of suppliers, before MANUFACTURING or 'assembling' the car.

Despite this, Innoson actually has other plants within the same complex manufacturing various parts, and his locally sourced inputs are well over 70%.

Every car manufacturer is an 'ASSEMBLER'.

To manufacture a car is to assemble a car. There is no difference.

In the USA, car manufacturing plants are called 'car assembly plants'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_assembly_plants_in_the_United_States

It is only in NIGERIA that some illiterate a few decades ago somehow decided that there was a difference between manufacturing something and 'assembling' it.

And this rank ignorance caught on with the rest of the population, already groomed by colonialists to doubt their own capacity.

If you go outside Nigeria and ask if a car was either assembled or manufactured, they would ask you if you are ok.

Waste of money.

Why can't Nigerian leaders ask for God's wisdom and a great mind of discernment to lead Nigerians to prosperity.

China didn't start with all this frivolities in the 50s - 60s when they were laying foundation for their economic growth. China started with building their small scale businesses, supporting them with grants until they grown into big industries. Today China has enough money to build any stadium of their dream, build any kind of structures they want, even loans out money to countries.

Why can't Oti do like China, use that billions for stadium, share it to small scale manufacturers inform of grant/interest free loans to support them to produce more, employ more workers/creating jobs.

China always built stadiums, even in the 50s and 60s.

They did not wait until they became fully developed before they built stadiums.

Your reasoning is very simplistic.

Development is not linear.

It is multi-pronged and multi-faceted.

Dude, do you know how many Chinese and Indians are in America and UK?

Nigerians are learners when it comes to migrating.

We are a big country that is still developing, so migration will happen as a matter of course.

One thing I've noticed is that countries with the highest number of migrants as developing nations end up being very advanced after some years. China. Japan, Brazil, India, etc. These were the JAPA champions long before Nigerians learnt Japa.

The cumulative effect of their diaspora's expertise and capital inputs, including via individual remittances, ended up beefing up their economies and industrial output. Same will occur in Nigeria, the Giant of Africa.

To her surprise, 95% of the people she asked, including blacks, whites, latinos, etc, all said they wanted first of all to visit NIGERIA before any other country in Africa! grin

Incredible video! This our country is so popular and well-loved by the international community. wink

DeLaRue:
I suspect the CBN will not want naira to go higher than say N1300 for a while yet.

In my view, N1450 - 1650 is the pain point range where imported goods becomes less and less affordable, and investment in local alternatives can begin to take shape. This is a higher priority for the government.

If you're one of those who believe we need to go from consumption to production, then you need to know that, that transition is unlikely to happen if dollar rate is at N700. At that rate, imports will be too cheap.

The Cbn will not even allow the naira to go anywhere near N700 for a few years to come, otherwise we will be back to square one where we are back to importing everything under the sun, with no production capacity of our own. These unbridled imports will then need to be funded by government borrowing dollars for future generations to pay.

It ain't happening.

Let's try and produce more of what we use.

Excellent, thoughtful analysis.

Stop talking rubbish

At minimum wage you need 2 years salary to buy a brand new car ; #80 x24 =1920

At minimum wage today you would need 50 years salary minimum to buy a brand new car of same class

Least brand new car now is minimum $20k that's 30 million

That's 1000 x minimum wage..... That's 83 years

You need to work and retire at from 25 to 60
3 and half times to achieve same

Stop supporting rubbish

I actually cross-checked, and the minimum wage in Nigeria was 60 naira in 1975.

https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=21105454922e231e&rlz=1CDGOYI_enGB1064GB1071&hl=en-GB&sxsrf=ACQVn08At-xjP-VLvfgv3jktgzXsWvcBGg:1710330930394&q=Nigerian+minimum+wage+in+1975+per+month&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjWtbecl_GEAxWHQ0EAHacdA9cQ1QJ6BAgxEAI&biw=375&bih=553&dpr=2

Also, that Peugeot 504 was made in Nigeria.

That’s why it cost only 1,500 naira.

Innoson’s cheapest car cost around 7 million naira, so your 30 million naira figure for a brand new car is wrong and dishonest.

You need to apologise to forumers for your disinformation.

In 1975, minimum wage was like 80 naira a month, so that Peugeot you are looking at was beyond the reach of average Nigerians.

Back then things were hard, and food was costly, especially meat.

Back then we ate one or two small pieces of meat with the rice. Nothing like ‘assorted’ back then.
