Should I attempt to break the demarcating glass Or Set the embassy ablaze Lol.. You go just see US marines them....lmao. It's not the end of the world. Just thank them and walk out....and go prepare again... However, we're not praying for that. |

chloe7: re read what i've said annd understand them please I didn't say families so don't misquote me, I said an adult who is a full student without a job will raise an eye brow and is being sponsored by parents, when I was in school I always got letters and renewed my uk visas but i'm sorry to say it didn't work for u.s, so please get me right Chloe7, we are both saying the same thing. An adult who is still being sponsored by their parent(s) will still be able to get the visa as its a tie to Nigeria...the problem comes when you're finished from school and u do not have a job. Going by what you've said, nobody in Nigeria above 18 and 21 will get a visitors visa...because they are sponsored by their parents. I know people who recently got their visas...they are students and being sponsored by their parents. Try not to discourage other people because of your own case. My take is, the embassy must have considered other factors in your case....which are applicable to your case. If someone gets a letter from their department stating the start and end dates of their course, their parent's SOA, and any other thing that's needed, so long as they can answer the VO and prove to the VO that they have home ties to Nigeria(beyond reasonable doubt s114b).. They'll be fine. Remember, the US embassy does not place so much importance on documents....it's what comes out from your answers to their questions that convinces them or puts them off. Regards |

chloe7: I did my undergrad and masters degree in u.i, and I always got letters to the u.k embassy to renew visas and I was never given by my dean, rather you write to the registrar through the h.o.d. Well I don't know sha why the h.o.d is giving letters direct now sha and as a student studying full time, no job, don't mess it up like I did, I advice you don't bother going at all Chloe7, I don't know why yours was different...but there's a lot of people I know who did get a letter stating the start and end date of their course from their department/school and got a visa. If we're to go buy what you said, most of the families who travel with their kids, won't be able to get visas for their kids, cos the parents are sponsoring. Which is not the case. Regards.... |

chloe7: even your parents sponsoring you will raise an eyebrow, a mistake I made that i'll never repeat. She's in school... The widely held concept will be that she's dependent on them.... A student has nothing more that could show home ties apart from school and family. |

Initially I booked an appointment for a specific date ,however due to errors on my ds160, I had to cancel my appointment Now I have booked another appointment and I also requested for emergency appointment due to resumption date
At this time,my emergency request has been approved I was instructed by mail to reschedule for an emergency appointment by cancelling my appointment(again)
Please I want to know if i am permitted to cancel my appointment TWICE. I dont want to forfeit my Visa application fee!!! Hey, do not cancel your current appointment more than two times. Wait for the embassy to open the portal for you to choose dates from, then you can cancel on that day. |

relagze: Hello House,
Pls., I am in need of help/advice here. I had a US student visa interview scheduled for Nov. 18, 2014 but was resheduled due to system issues at the embassy to Dec. 5, 2014. My school resumes by Dec. 4, 2014 as stated on my form I-20. Should I take the the 'emergency appointemnt route'?
The web page states that :
Students or exchange visitors
Purpose of travel is to begin or resume a valid program of study in the United States within 60 days when no regular visa appointments are available. This option is limited only to students and exchange students who are within 60 days of their start date. It is also limited only to applicants who have not been refused a visa within the last six months at either the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos.
Essential documentation: 1.Original Form I-20 or DS-2019 indicating start date of program within 60 days. 2.Evidence that you have paid the SEVIS fee (when applicable).
Pls. advice will be much appreciated. Thanks If you qualify, why not. Send them an email stating the need for the emergency appointment. Quote your passport number and attach the i20 and SEVIS receipt. Give them all the details (although it's already stated on your application forms).. They'll reply within 48 houses. Don't send the email twice, it delays their response |

What is this about international foundation for 1year before going into Medicine fully. I got admission for international foundation in medicine even though I want to go in for my 1st year as a med. Student. Is this new in the U.K? Hello, this is not new, to do medicine in the UK, you must have done A levels, international baccauleaureat, a first degree or a foundation in medicine... If it is the latter, u must work hard cos if u don't do very very well, you won't get a place. Doing the foundation doesn't guarantee you a place on the course on like other courses. Best of luck. |

DonOms: Of course you can submit two account statements (even one) if the statement(s) meet these conditions: 1) the funds in account(s) meet the maintenance requirement, and 2) held the money for a consecutive 28 day period in ALL accounts.
The 28-day period is calculated from the date of the closing balance on the most recent of the account statements (if more than one) and that closing balance date must be no earlier than 31 days before the applicant made their application. However, I know the British high commission normally has more regard for the statement that favour your application the most. |

Feexo: House, I am very sorry I am posting my transcript late. I know how important it is to some people, as I also benefitted immensely from reading people's transcript. I joined this thread about 3 years ago and I have learned so much. I was for 6:30 appointment. We were about getting filed in when I could not find my pictures again. I left the line and those photographers were demanding 2k from me sensing my desperation. I ended up paying 1k, but I tried not to be apprehensive I needed my composure for the interview. Once inside, I started observing things; visa issuing rate and the composure of interviewees.
VO: (holding my i20) so you are going to WIU? ME: Absolutely(with a smile) VO: How did you know about the school? ME: I came across the school in late 2012 after I subscribed to the e-journals on the website of American Political Science Review. Subsequently, I carried out more research using: gradschool.com, collegeboard.org and usnews.com. VO: You discovered the school in 2012, why are you just applying in 2014? ME: I have been very busy with work, and I also had to prepare for standardized exams VO: Oh! What exams did you write? ME: GRE and Toefl VO: pass me your score cards (He looked at them for like 45 seconds and returned them) VO: when did you graduate? ME: August 2008 VO: (Counted down from 2008 to 2014 audibly) that is 6 years. Why are you just going for your masters and what have you been doing? ME: I actually completed my NYSC in March 2010, so that makes it a little over 4 years. I have been teaching junior and senior secondary students civic education and government respectively at Bethel Group of Schools for almost 3 and a half years. Also, I worked with Cupid Haus Entertainment as the Business Dev. Manager for a few months after I left school in a volunteering capacity(he nodded his head), also, I worked briefly with Diamond Bank Plc, but I have found my niche in the teaching profession and I want to take it to the next level now. VO: Ok. I noticed you were denied a UK visa in 2011, what happened? ME: That is very true. I applied with my girlfriend and we were both denied(lamba... I applied alone). We were asked to appeal against the decision but we never did VO: Why not? ME: My girl lost her dad at the time, and I needed to be by her side(yet another lamba) VO: Thats good (nodded his head). Are you single or married? ME: (as a sharp Nairaland guy) No, but I got engaged on May 5th. VO: good. What other school did you apply to? ME: University of Oregon and University of Oklahoma. VO: good. So, is this your coming with you on this trip? ME: no, she's very busy with work VO: So, who's sponsoring you? ME: My uncle VO: Has he ever done something like this for you before? ME: Absolutely! He has been responsible for my education since my mom died, and he has been very supportive of my dreams and aspirations. In fact, I have been living with him since 1993( Final lamba) VO: do you have his bank statement? Me: Sure( passed it to him) VO: (looked at the opening balance of 1.7 million, flipped a few pages to the closing balance of 4.8 million, the returned it to me) Congratulation! You can...... I know even hear the rest. N.B People posting transcripts should help others by being explicit, and desist from using bleeps and xyz school and stuffs like that. (My personal opinion though)
God, prayer, due diligence/research (this gives you confidence) and be optimistic. Allah will grant the requests of those planning on going to the embassy on here. Congrats! Your lamba dey move mountain sha |

tdayof: is schooling in Canada cheaper than UK? Well, schooling in Canada and in the UK have almost the same financial costs. However, due to the weight of the pounds, schooling in the UK is more expensive than in Canada. The only advantage with schooling in the UK is that you can work as you school.... I'm not sure it's the same in Canada. I stand to be corrected tho! |

jaskinbo: @jcaribie, I did emailed them as you said but they sent me a message redirecting me to expediated appointment page again. Do you have an existing appointment already? Cos if you don't, they're not likely to reply you. You could also call them on +23414406298. If you experience any difficulty calling that number, dial +17035202580, let it ring for 5 seconds and hang up. You will receive an immediate call from the call centre. You can then talk to them about the ED.... I don't know why the Lagos Consulate did that, but the Abuja one does approve/decline your request via an email. And you do not tell them when you want your interview to be held. You just send them an email telling them what's on ground. Add all the info I said you should add, if they approve your request, they will release so many dates on your portal for you to choose from. Hope this helps |

confuxsio: Hi All,
I've searched the threads tire but I'm not sure I've found an answer. Hope someone can help me
My BF is looking to come over to the UK to visit me for 9 days in Feb 2014 and has reserved hotel accommodation in London for his entire stay. He currently works offshore on a 2wks on/off rota in Nigeria so only has limited time to make his application. He has a sister who lives with her family in Manchester and a brother in Leeds. Both siblings are British citizens. He was in the UK from Sep 2011 - Feb 2013 on a student visa.
He was going to apply for a general tourist visa to quicken to process/avoid getting letters and bank statements etc but since he has family in the UK so we decided it was best for him to complete a family visa. Can I check this is the better option and which gives him a better chance of obtaining a visa? He is sponsoring himself and has evidence of his employment, his rota details, bank statements and a current account with over 2 million naira.
Can we apply for family visa but since his siblings are British citizens, do we need to provide financial information? The guide on the UKBA site only states the below, with no mention of financial info:
'You may also want to provide:
a letter of invitation from the family member you are visiting; evidence of their immigration status in the UK, this could be copies of: bio-data pages from their passports valid visa or immigration stamp from their passport Home Office letter confirming permission to stay in the UK.'
If none of the above, what should we do??
Thanks in advance Yes, you do need to provide a financial statement along with what the UKBA has asked for. |
