Politics › Re: Dominic Adesanya Jumped Over White House Fence by jchima14: 5:13am On Oct 23, 2014 |
A man jumped the White House fence on Wednesday evening and was attacked by Secret Service dogs before being arrested, a Secret Service spokesman said.
"Dogs got him," spokesman Edwin Donovan said, referring to the intruder.
He identified the intruder as Dominic Adesanya, 23, of Bel Air, Maryland, and said he was unarmed at the time of his arrest. Video showed Secret Service agents surrounding the man on the north lawn of the White House, which was put on lockdown for about 90 minutes. The man punched one of the dogs that attacked him, as seen in the video. Two Secret Service dogs "were taken to a veterinarian for injuries sustained during the incident," Donovan said.
The incident came roughly a month after an intruder armed with a knife scaled the White House fence and made it inside the executive mansion, raising questions about security levels at the heavily guarded complex and spurring the resignation of then-Secret Service Director Julia Pierson.
The man climbed the fence around 7:15 p.m. (2315 GMT) and was apprehended shortly thereafter. The lockdown was lifted shortly before 9 p.m.
"The individual was immediately taken into custody on the North lawn of the White House by Secret Service Uniformed Division K-9 teams and Uniformed Division Officers," Donovan said. K-9 refers to the team using specially trained dogs.
The man was then transported to a hospital for evaluation, the spokesman said.
The latest White House security breach happened the same day a gunman attacked Canada's parliament in Ottawa. http://.com.ng/index.php/world-news/item/700-man-arrested-for-jumping-white-house-fence |

Politics › Re: My Opinion:why Buhari Shouldnt Contest For President by jchima14: 3:30pm On Oct 21, 2014 |
AltarBoy1: This is clearly my own opinion. We all know the religous tension that have engulf Nigeria esp as the northerner muslims are always at the forefront of starting a religion crisis. Buhari contesting for the president is like initiating a "religious crisis reaction", waiting for an enzyme to activate it and that enzyme is if he LOSSES. We all know what happened in 2011 as most of the northern states went into religous crisis after the presidential result was announced. Just like Shiek Gumi said, Buhari is seen by the average northern muslim as one who represent Islam, albiet even if pdp field a muslim candidate who is not from the core north, the average northern muslims will see him as enemy of Islam and not an oppositon of Buhari and will likely start a crisis if Buhari losses to him. So, to keep Nigeria safe and united, apc should field any candidate other than Buhari (irrespective of his religion), this in a way will remove the Islamic eyes with which northern muslims are viewing this upcoming election. Am not here to prophesize, but believe me, if Buhari should loss this election, (whether free/fair or not) there is 75percent chances of religous crisis igniting in the northern part of the country. doesn't count |

Politics › Jonathan Not An Ambitious Politician by jchima14(op): 8:59am On Oct 21, 2014 |
A former Federal Commissioner of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, has said President Goodluck Jonathan is not an ambitious politician.
Clark said this was because of the alleged refusal of the President to accept to be running mate to the late President, Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua in 2007. He said instead of being a Vice President, Jonathan said he was alright with being the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Bayelsa State the same year. The foremost Ijaw leader said President Jonathan was persuaded to be the running mate to the late President, adding that if he were to be ambitious, he would have jumped at the offer.
Clark spoke in Abuja on Monday at his residence, when he received a group known as Federal Capital Territory Indigenes and Geo-Political Forum Leaders.
He said in spite of several pressure being mounted on the President to openly declare for second term, he has refused, saying such action was not common in Nigerian leaders.
Clark said, “This is the first time we have a president that is not ambitious. Nigerians are asking him to openly declare for 2015 but he has refused.
“There is peace in Nigeria despite the fact that some people have been planning to make the country ungovernable. We are not in a country whereby only one region or section would be ruling.
“Jonathan didn’t want to become of President of Nigeria, just like Gen. Yakubu Gowon. Jonathan was not ambitious. It was the South-South people who provide the most resources of the country and should therefore be involved in the running and managing of the resources.” Source: http://www..com.ng/index.php/political-news/item/664-jonathan-not-an-ambitious-politician |

Health › Nigerians Prefer To Spend Money On Expensive Phones, Cars Than Check-up by jchima14(op): 2:25am On Oct 20, 2014 |
Lagos – A medical doctor, Dr Dayo Ojo, on Saturday in Lagos urged Nigerians to always check their health status against any ailment. Ojo, of Calvary Medical Hospital, Ayobo, Lagos, told the News Agency of Nigeria that regular check-up was a way to get early intervention and arrest a deteriorating health situation. “Nigerians should pay more attention to their health by inculcating the habit of going for general check up to help stay healthy. “Men and women of every age need check-up, which will pave the way for early detection and treatment of health challenges before they become serious and more difficult to manage,” he said. He urged the public to take charge of their health, saying that should be their first priority in life. Ojo advised people to visit the hospital once a year to discuss with their doctors what screening or test they need and when they need it. “Take action now to protect your health and well being in future, prioritise your health, as the key to keep your body running smoothly is regular check-up. “Visit your doctor and have some tests done to find out if there is anything wrong in your body. “If you don’t have a personal physician think about getting one,” he said. According to him, some people avoid regular check-up even when the tests are free, believing that they are in good health.
