Politics / Re: FG: Nothing Wrong In Dialoguing With Bandits by JeffDWalter: 12:45pm On Feb 22, 2021
tsephanyah:
Terrorist? a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

adjective
unlawfully using violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
"a terrorist organization" IPOB" ESN

Bandit? a robber or outlaw belonging to a gang and typically operating in an isolated or lawless area.
"the bandit produced a weapon and demanded money"

Why Government don't negotiate with Terrorist? There are multiple motivations for such policies, including a lack of guarantee of the hostage's safe return upon payment, as well as not creating an incentive for future hostage-takings.

Why Nigerian government negotiate with Bandits is because they're outlaws trying to make money, politically not affiliated. Bandits on several occasions release victims without giving them money because some of their concerns are reasonable. Government have fail them. Also governors and middle men not FG negotiating with Bandits.

This is the Almighty US negotiating with Taliban

You are being unreasonable here my friend. The US negotiating with the Taliban is for the benefit of the Middle East, not America. The US negotiate as a mediator and Qatar, the venue in your photo was chosen because it is in Asia and relatively peaceful.

After reading this my comment, I plead that you take some time and do deep reflection. Ask yourself:
1. Would the US pay terrorists 30 Million Euros for the Dapchi girls? If yes, as yourself if the US would repeat the same circle in Kankara, Katsina?
2. Ask yourself if the US would allow a man who has direct connections to the "Bandits" like Sheikh Gumi does?
3. Ask yourself if the US would negotiate with kidnappers who killed an hostage like the case of Niger State?

Bear in mind that a US citizen was kidnapped in Nigeria recently and the US sent men from America to come rescue the citizen(s) without negotiations with the kidnappers.

Family / My Friend's Wife Just Told Him That Their First Daughter Is Not His. by JeffDWalter: 7:37am On Feb 22, 2021
My friend is heartbroken at the moment.

They have been having issues for over a year now.
Though, my friend could not confirm if the recurring problem is related to the issue of the paternity of the child.
I once went down to settle them, while I was still in the country.

My friend is a Naval personnel and they live in one of the Military camps in Abuja along Dutse Alhaji-Kubwa axis.
Each time, he wished he was not a Military personnel and not living in the barracks, he would've "beaten the hell out of her". It is obvious personnel cannot touch their wives while in the barracks. The wife knows this and puts up very nasty behaviour, including raining insults and physical abuses on him.

On Friday, he decided that the woman would travel to their home town, since she just gave birth to their third child about two months ago, so that their parents could assist with the child. Actually, that was his way of getting rid of the woman temporarily. But the woman also knew. She collected the whole money needed for the journey and other things and accepted she would travel. The journey was scheduled for Saturday 20th February, 2021.

So, my friend woke up prepared them, said his goodbyes and left very early for work as usual. The moment he left, the wife went to commander in charge of the wing of the barracks and reported my friend that he was chasing her out of the house, leaving her stranded. And all other lot of nasty things. The Military had to summon him back from the office. On reaching the gates, his colleague, though a junior, but Military Police accosted him and wanted to arrest him, so he slapped the guy and he was thrown into the guard room.

After spending hours and was released for settlement, that was when the woman released the bombshell. She said, their 13 year old daughter is NOT my friend's, in a bid to hurt him so much. She said that her conscience was disturbing her since and that if my friend insisted that she leaves, she must leave with the girl.

My friend has been crying since. The truth is that, he knew from the day the child was born, we have discussed the physical features of the child as against their remaining children. I also suspected, but the love for the girl blinded my friend from taking action from 13 years ago.

To make matters worst, the Military said my friend remains responsible for the whole family, whether they were with him or not. That they would set up a fund from his salary that would go directly to the woman for the care of the children. I don't know how possible that is.
But the man is very hurting.

Politics / Re: Kagara: Kidnapped Students Not Released Yet - Governor Sani-Bello by JeffDWalter: 12:35pm On Feb 19, 2021
This is so very wrong, however you wish to look at it.

Why treating these "terrorists" with kids gloves?
Yes, wherever there is a hostage situation, it is common to negotiate, to save the lives. But where the abductors actually kill any hostage, the terms change drastically.

When you pay for the release of the surviving hostages, who then pays for the dead? Especially, now that it has been established that someone, Sheikh Gumi met with and interacted with the abductors, with pictorial evidence all over, instead of pampering, why not swoop in and deal them decisive blows to end this?

This is a pattern that is being drawn here: It began with paying Dapchi abductors, then the Zamfara governor constantly "negotiating" with hilux vehicles and cash.
Then the Kankara school boys who allegedly paid N30 million. Now this ones in Niger. I think government has successfully given these terrorists a clear "go ahead" without knowing it.

But you keep paying the northern youths with proceeds from oil from the South. This is not fair at all.

Education / Re: JAMB Budgets N100m To Prosecute 200 For Malpractice by JeffDWalter: 5:10pm On Feb 10, 2021
Nigeria is just a funny country.

You plan to use N100 Million to prosecute 200 alleged examination offenders. Why not select and group cases that are alike and prosecute in group, listing the offenders as respondent one to the last in that category? Even if you have 100 persons in one fraud case, same prosecution counsel can argue the case. Same courtroom, same resources. JAMB is not a State Exam, it is Federal. But what do I know? They prefer to hire 100 Lawyers and go to 100 different courtrooms at different times for each accused.

Everyday you get up and try to check the headlines from the country, you get a little bit more discouraged than the previous day.

Politicians are frustrating the people on a daily.
Police and Law enforcement agencies harassment is on the rise: Any youth with an Apple product is a scammer.

The Media is even the worst. Instead of being the hope of the common man, they prefer to side with big corporations and politicians just to get patronage and advertisements; every news report is either paid for or made in preparation for the "Brown Envelope".

Market women just want to cash out on consumers; they double the cost of goods, thereby, letting buyers bear the brunt of their own hardships.

The most annoying group of them all is the "Online Warriors" as the President referred to them a few weeks ago: While others, real Patriots attack the nepotism and other wrong moves of the government, thereby strengthening the already fragile democracy, they are hell-bent on making life miserable for themselves and others. It is not as if they truly enjoy the government of the day, but pride and lack of remorse is pushing them against those who truly mean well for the nation and who are termed "Wailers".

I am so glad I made it out of Nigeria. I am not supposed to say that out loud, but events and happenings in the country kill patriotism in you.

I pray it gets better, though I do not have faith in this prayer, my prayer.

So annoying. embarassed embarassed embarassed

That's somehow true. But hard work does not equate success, especially if you are in a country like Nigeria. To survive in Nigeria of today, it requires tenacity, "Ready to do anything" spirit, ass licking in some case and enough patience.

No, that was a private chat which wasn't meant for the public. The girl wasn't provoked by that statement at all. Because after he typed that and sent it to her, did you see her immediate response? "send my money and we can have a conversation".
I think that was in response to "so are you ready to talk or not".

He didn't win. He himself didn't want the girl to go public but the lady did anyway. People have seen his face and they now know who he is. It's a lose-lose situation for both of them. That guy must have been doing that for a long time, this lady just blown his ass

I guess each has his level compression and perception about the whole saga. Because, it looks to me like the man deliberately provoked her to more anger with his "the toto sweet and I no wan lose am" comments. I could be wrong though.

I sense a learned colleague here! Wonderfullly advanced argument, to which I say, yes indeed you are correct, but you would observe that I couched my argument in deliberately vague terms.

Of course, there is no offence known to law as "a close relative of rape" and therefore I never advanced that the man could be charged or sued, nor did I even argue that she was correct in misrepresenting what happened.

My argument is that what he actually did is not any better than what he was accused of doing. In nature and intent they are of similar character and the only escape for him is that prostitution is illegal.

I understand you very clearly now.
The man himself must have known that she cannot build a case against him, before he summoned the courage to do that.

Now, he enjoyed himself, although, others could argue that they both enjoyed the sex. cheesy
He did not pay for it, as we are made to believe.
Now, he could even get paid for, if he sues for slander and character assassination. cool

All and all, he wins. The Lady was not smart. In this kind of case, she would've taken "anything " and counted her losses.

Let's just hope this is the last we have heard about this case.
Peace out.
Crime / Re: Leaked Chat: Queency Benna Threatening Dr Obi After She Wasn't Paid After Sex by JeffDWalter: 12:11pm On Dec 19, 2020
SmartyPants:

Which is why, you will notice that I never said that she has a legal argument.

But you would agree with me that if prostitution was legal she would have a strong case for fraud. Hence, viewed through the objective lense of right and wrong, what he did was wrong and is akin to fraud, which if true, amounts to obtaining without proper consent, which would be rape.

You are talking about morality, whereas, the whole saga reeks of immortality; from sex in a hotel, to having sex with a man, not yet your husband. She has no moral standing to enjoy moral backing, that again leads us to "You can't build something on nothing ".

The right thing would've been to walk into a police station and officially document her case, that is if she had a case in the first place. Instead, she resorted to blackmail, to accrue public sympathy.

She could be charged with slander, blackmail and false accusations of rape and could be sentenced for nothing less that four (4) years if the man decides to press charges.
Like I said, Law is law, law is not emotions.

I'm not a fan of silly women like these but what he did is a close relative to rape.

Rape is to obtain sex without consent. To obtain sex on the basis of payment and thereafter to default in payment is to vitiated the consent.

It's as close to rape as fraud is to theft.

Last I checked Sir, sex for money is still criminal in Nigeria. You can't argue that in a Nigerian court.
So, since the law states that "You cannot build Something on Nothing", she has no case.

Law is law Sir, law is not emotions.

You are very knowledgeable about Art works.
It isn't about the image itself alone, but the story behind the picture.
Art lovers buy the story, not only the work.
If Don Jazzy's marketing team can create a touching story about the Art work, he can even auction it right there on Twitter, assuming of course, such a thing is allowed on Twitter. But the point is, that work could be sold for far more than the $100k you predicted.

The story is already there, just needs a little packaging.

If you are a parent, then you must understand "instructing" your zealous 16 and 13year old boys alone wouldn't cut. And there is limit to the force you apply when they are that age.
Which is easier?
A. Locking my Hotspot and barring them from accessing
B. Warning, shouting, flogging them?

Well data can be turned on while phone is locked for security purposes but can't be turned off while phone is locked. Hotspot can't be turned on while phone is locked.
Go to settings, then lock screen, then secure lock settings, then activate lock network and security.

Please help me out.
My kids are driving me crazy.
I do not know what security settings to use.

My phone is on security lock, but the data menu still swipes down and data still turns on, while the phone is locked.

My kids just turn it on and use the hotspot comfortably in their room while I go about my business in our room or the living room.

I want to shock them. I have searched the internet but couldn't find a suitable direction to do it.
