Too many awful songs? Look, EVERY musician has had some awful songs in his/her discography. It's not possible to listen to many songs of any musician and like them all, but to put TOO MANY AWFUL SONGS in the same sentence with Sia is an insult to not just Sia but to OVER FORTY artistes shes written powerful songs for. You hear me right, OVER FORTY DIFFERENT ARTISTES. If not or the genius of this deeply introverted lady, these incredulous number of artistes wouldn't be scrambling over themselves to have her write songs or them. If you think I'm lying, count or yourselves below:

http://time.com/4209769/sia-best-songs-written-for-other-artists-ranked/

Sia doesn't just write songs, her lyrics are intelligent and elicits life teachings. Sia was the brain behind Rihanna's priceless Diamonds banger; so good it was, Rihanna sought her out to write Sledgehammer for her again. The lovely Try Everything which Shakira sang in Zootopia, the badass behind the song was you guessed who - Sia Furler. I repeat, Sia has a Midas touch, anything she touches turns to gold. Her song was the ONLY song I downloaded out of the numerous OSTs in Fifty Shades: Freed. She's got that effect on me.

This is a woman that doesn't usually appear in most o her videos and doesn't make elaborate and fanfciul videos so viewers will be focused on her messages not visuals. If you don't like Sia's songs, there's nothing wrong at all with it, we all have different taste. After all, my friends loved Wizkid's Daddy Yo and Davido's Nwa Baby to death, but both songs are trash to me and will never enter my phone or laptop.

My top 10 Sia songs in no particular order except number 1 are:

Elastic Hearts
Chanadlier
Big Girls Don't Cry
Helium
Alive
The Greatest [she sang the remix with Kendrick Lamar but i prefer the original]
Cheap Thrills
Titanium
Birds Set Free
Rainbow
Unstoppable
Breathe Me

oops!! It's more than 10. Sia confuses me with her magical songs. embarassed embarassed lipsrsealed grin grin
Wow....Sia is prolific.

However, I have never heard most of those songs.

The mentality needed to create wealth because your examples are totally off point
First, I never said anything about creating wealth. In fact, I mentioned the "mentalities guaranteed to keep one in poverty" which would be different from a "mentality needed to create wealth".

I knew that my post would elicit disagreement and so, I kept the rationalization vague and to the barest minimum.

You and hopefullandlord agree with the same wicked Nigerian mentality that keeps us down. If the trader was smart, he would have helped us and asked for compensation for the help. We were ready to pay for such assistance. Rather, the trader put his shop at risk because he put himself in a position where he could be accused of helping the culprit as he clearly was a witness to the crime and he was quiet.

Typical Nigerian mentality of helping only himself. If the trader had gotten the sensing of a win-win situation where he both helped us and himself, he would be better off. But no, he kept quiet and wanted to only help himself while we suffered.

As for the banker, racism/xenophobia/hatred is never justified. You could lose jobs and contracts because of such (is losing jobs/contracts not a guaranteed way to poverty?). Just because some lebanese are bad, it does not mean that all lebanese are bad. Do you hate all christians just because some are heartless liars like butterflyling?

Furthermore, the mentality of the banker was quite dull. Money is money. Just because someone is depositing money in 20 naira notes, it doesnt mean that the person is poor. If you have a shop or sell pure water, a lot of your income comes in small notes. The Lebanese man has many businesses and his pure water business brings him nothing less that 600k a month. He sells three trucks of water in week. The banker's attitude to money is why he will likely never be an entrepreneur.

I hope you can see my points

I'm not, in fact your atheist friend is making up definitions to back up his claims. He doesn't want to admit he's not absolutely sure about his beliefs about religion because of the false dichotomy he presented earlier. So he resorts to strawmanning and making up definitions.

For the second guy you called a banker, well I think his action might be brought about by his experiences with the Lebanese. I learnt the Lebanese are one of the worst people in Nigeria in terms of how they treat their Nigerian subordinates. he could have family members being treated like slaves and insulted by the Lebanese and saw the money situation as an opportunity to get one back
I have worked with so many racist Indians and Lebanese in Nigeria. Yet, I keep my professionalism as long as the Indian is not rude to me. All Indians are not bad, neither are all lebanese

The first scenario, the pure water seller just doesn't want trouble. He doesn't know who you are, doesn't know who the basher is, doesn't know what the situation might escalate to

You'd be surprised that in certain situations it might escalate to the pure water guy having to go bear witness in court or being invited to police station and getting extorted by police, having his time wasted and business affected all because he said he saw who bashed your car

Such scenario brings up the total lack of faith in the system and others. nobody really goes all out to be insincere but when you've been burned once or twice out of your display of sincerity and people around you who aren't as sincere as you (or don't display it as much) are having their lives go smoothly then you might start cutting back on your own display to save you trouble
Yet, many Nigerians like him in poverty do not hesitate to burn thieves with tyres. We would have given the guy compensation for his troubles had he helped.

Christianity Etc › Are Some People Destined To Be Poor? by JeromeBlack(op): 6:13pm On Aug 27, 2018
As a humanist, I want people in in Nigeria to have better standards of living and enough money in their pockets to take care of themselves.

However, two experiences have changed my mind- some people should be poor all their lives. They deserve it;

Experience 1;
My friend's car was parked near a bank and someone bashed the car. My friend and I were almost getting into the bank when we heard the bashing noise. We went to see what happened but the person had driven away. Fortunately, there was standstill traffic and we knew that the person that bashed it would not be far. I saw a trader who was selling next to the car and asked him who bashed the car. The trader said he didnt see anything. This was a lie because even we who were far from the car heard the noise. We begged the trader and he still kept quiet. We then had to be looking at cars in the traffic that had dents. Luckily, I saw a car that had a dent and that was parked at the bank earlier. We caught the culprit. When we confronted the trader again, he confessed that he saw the culprit but he didnt want to be involved.

Experience 2;
I recently went with a client of mine to deposit money at a bank. My client has a water business where he sells pure water. He deposited 20,000 naira of which 2000 naira was of 20 naira notes and 3000 naira was of 50 naira notes. The bank staff that was handling the deposit was smiling and mocking my client in yoruba (the client is a foreigner from Lebanon) and saying that it was rubbish money that the man is depositing. The bank staff cannot earn more than 150k a month, while my client makes that from pure water in a week.

The trader in the first experience almost lost his shop as my friend threatened to destroy it and call the local govt as the shop is illegally on public land. The trader started begging because that was his only source of income.

The banker could have lost his job if I decided to report his mockery.

Now tell me, why these people should ever have money in their life when they will surely make other people miserable? These two people could have lost their source of income and could have faced poverty.

I somehow missed that your quoted post. It is nothing but the truth.

It is why I like IMDB reviews or even Amazon reviews- most reviewers usually put a reason for their ratings and furthermore, the reviews are then voted upon (to rank the helpfulness of the review). In short, if your review is nonsensical, it wouldnt be voted as helpful.

There is something I realized, we enjoyed and understood movies differently and the a movie I might like someone else might not.
One of my best movie this year is FOREVER MY GIRL. If am to rate it I will give it 8/10 while the over hyped Deadpool 2 is the worst I have watched this year. I will give it - 2/10.

So we need to chill sometimes, recommend movies, rate it and don't critize other for not liking what you don't. smiley
There is an exception or limit to every rule. Yes, we are all allowed to have our subjective opinions. Rating movies can be subjective.

The exception to allowing people to have opinions is that there are opinions that are quite insane. Opinions that cannot be defended and have no basis in reality

When you go to IMDB movie reviews, you see that people give reasons for their reviews and also, there is a voting mechanism to show how helpful a review is to other people.

So, please, kindly rethink of your review/rating of deadpool. If people here were to vote on how useful your review is, would it be voted as useful? Can you find any logical way of defending your review that would not make you look funny?

Honestly, a 4/10 to 9/10 rating for deadpool 2 (average to great) would be okay to defend. But -2/10? If you hated the movie so much, why did you go and watch it (we all knew what the deadpool movies are about before going to watch it)?

Ijebu is a town, not a village. Instead of trying hard to hide behind "why must I go to the village to verify?" then kuku stop making silly claims, rather admit you don't and strive to know.

We have people using it in modern city. No doubt, only that it's not rampant because people are scared of the evil attached to it. And as well, we have religious people in the city, and you'll agree with me that both most popular religion in Nigeria forbids juju, hence it's not rampant in the city unlike in the village where they are still attached to the ATR.

You are sounding unintelligent now. Juju isn't a yardstick for being rich, basically because there are lots of evil attached to it. You cannot get something from the devil without preparing to face the consequence, these priests understand it quite well, the more reason why they hardly engage in money rituals for themselves. They do it for the desperate one looking forward quick money, example are those engaging in Yahoo+.
Juju is not also for money rituals alone, there are other things they use juju for. For you to understand and get a first hand experience of its efficacy, give a try to what I told you.

What nonsense? Do you have any one that's into it and he told you it's doesn't need jazz? Why is is plus then?
Plus, I've seen a young guy of maybe 24years or less that uses a venza. We were in the pool and when I was done going home, he was going to take something in booth, as I was passing right behind him while he was opening his booth, I saw a small calabash wrapped with a red cloth. Although this is not enough to say he's into plus, nevertheless this us an indication.

Don't get me wrong. There's is Yahoo and then there's Yahoo+. You think they added + to the latter for the fun of it? Think again.

I'm not disagreeing with you though, just stating that if Vic were amongst atheists he would still say he is more intelligent than most/all of them and would still see reasons to insult them if they debate anything going by what OP said so telling him about intelligent religious people would do no good in this IMO.
I think we have our behaviours first then we can bring it into our biases so an arrogant atheist would've been arrogant even if he were religious. he's arrogant and insulting INSPITE of being an atheist not BECAUSE of it although there are exceptions but Vic is not an exception if the below part of OP were true

He talks to people anyhow. Even when he debates atheism, he comes off as arrogant. I am happy that he challenges people to think about their beliefs but insulting them will only make them hate you.

OP means he's generally arrogant and insulting, this he also keeps up when debating religious people. if he only gets insulting when debating religious people then telling him about intelligent religious people would help

Or do you disagree
budaatum:
"Atheist light" ? Funny. But you give me the opportunity to address a misconception that many people tend to make.

I put it to you that you are not an atheist! By that I mean that defining you in your entirety as an atheist is taking a very tiny aspect of who you are and claiming that is the whole you. I put it to you that if I took as much as is used to define you as an atheist, to define a chair, I'd be calling it a tooth pick. And if I took as much from an elephant I might call it a branch.

I put it to you that way before being an atheist you are a human being! Just as the other person is a human being too albeit with a rather bad shaded light. But there's one thing about atheism you fail to get. We are not some collective with a creed defining us all as one. Take me, for instance. I do not believe that there are no gods like some wishy washy atheists do. I know there are no gods, thank god.

"One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch girl" said Michael Jackson, even if some people think it does. So don't let this bad light atheist shade your bright human light.

Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine! I am certain you got one!

People are different. Some people do not like science fiction albeit being an unpopular opinion.

However, science fiction remains the most creative genre of movies (or literary work). It takes a look at what science and human development could look like in the future.

To prove that science fiction remains creative, one needs to look at movies like inception, the matrix and interstellar. The development of these movies required so much philosophical and scientific thought. Inception required the scientific understanding of dreams (lucid dreams, REM sleep etc). The matrix required a lot of philosophical thoughts on existence and the future of man and machine. The development of interstellar required a lot of physicists theories on space and time.

Annihilation was a great movie for science fiction fans. The plot was a simple mystery that kept unraveling- a twilight zone where things were just out of place until it was revealed that things were combining at a molecular level due to the refraction of DNA in the zone.

I didn't say juju cannot work online. [Check, have you heard about YAHOO+++?] I only said it is impracticable to display it's efficacy to you asking for it's prove. Should a video be given, you guys will find fault with it. Whereas an eyewitness is better than any other evidence that may me presented. The more reason why I said, if truly you guys are interested in knowing whether juju is real or not, take a self - experience trip to Ijebu land and ask around for juju priests. Tell the priest you'll like to know whether juju works or not, I'm sure they'll be so quick to show you whether it does or not. But certainly you guys will never embark on such journey because you quite know deep inside yourself that these things exists. You only enjoy fooling yourself just so you'll be able to deny the existence of the supernatural in other to tag yourself freethinker or atheist or whatever.

I say, go verify it yourself. Don't stay at the corner of your room and be saying it's not real when you haven't made an attempt to understand whether it is or not. That's unintelligent and absurd.
Why must I go to the village to verify that juju exists? Is juju afraid of the city and civilization?

I do not need to go to the village to get traditional Yoruba food, so why do I then need to go to the village to verify Juju?

And what do your juju priests do? If they have power, why are they always broke and haggard?

The yahoo+++ that you talk about does not need jazz. Just because the victim of a scam is gullible , it does not mean that the victim was jazzed or bewitched. In fact, when white people catch these Yahoo boys, the dont employ juju priests to capture them. The use simple logic and police work to catch them.
