Where are you building? Lagos? If yes, below is a guide.
cement - maybe 50 bags @ N1950 per bag - N98,000 (30 bags to set 2000 blocks, the remaing 20 bags for foundation and lintel. You may need more though.)

sand - tipper of sharp sand - N46,000
block - 2000 Pcs of 9" at N140 each - N280,000

granite - Buy one 20 tonn tipper and use it for foundation and lintel - N120,000. Gravel is way cheaper
iorn - for lintel? Pillars? A tonn of 12mm is N130,00 or so

labour. - foundation digging (N25,000), casting the foundation (N30,000), setting blocks (N4000 for 100 blocks; or N80,000 for 2000 blocks).

You will need filling sand too to fill the foundation. This number of tippers depends on your land topography.

With your 1M, you can go a long way in making your dream a reality. Go for it.

True talk poster. The local buyers are cosmetics conscious rather than safety conscious. I do not blame the dealers because the buyers ask for what they get.

My little humble message:

Buyers: Buy what you can afford. If you can use Internet to check email and play games, you can as well use the same Internet to search for the prices of cars and decide based on your pocket. Do not tell dealers to buy a car for you at the price of a bicycle.

Dealers: Be truthful. Say 'no but thanks' to your customers when they decide on price for you. Put safety of your customers to heart.

Now take these respective amounts and go car hunting in these respective countries, continents which ever you like and see what you can buy.
Unfortunately in Nigeria you will hardly ever find a car that you like and that is in reasonable condition for under a million naira. So which leads me to my next question, why are Nigerian car dealers so quick to raise prices of vehicles that are for sale, and why are people silly enough to actually buy cars at extraordinary prices?

Your opinion is baseless. I am not a car dealer but car dealers in Nigeria are pushed to the wall by buyers. Someone in Nigeria wants to buy a car for N1000,000 and expects a brand new car. With your N1000,000 ($6, 240), this is what you get.

1995 to 1996 Honda Accord - $3000
Shipping from any other state except from MD, NY, NJ, etc that has ports - $1500
Clearing in Lagos - N180,000 to N200,000 ($1200)

Profit for your car dealer - $500. Is this too much for a dealer that invests his money to buy a car and ship to Nigeria?

A lot of people want to buy a year 2000 Honda Accord or Camry for N1000,0000. This is possible because all you get is an accident car or a car that has 500,000 miles and reduced to 100,000 miles for your happiness.

Cut your coat according to your size. Buy what you can afford and do not put dealers on a tight corner. Like I said in my opening, I am not a car dealer but I have at least 98% knowledge of what happens in the US car market. I can provide you any guide you need on car buying for free.
