striktlymi: Good evening Seun,

Firstly, I need to commend you greatly for coming up with the concept of nairaland and the fact that nairaland has grown to this extent is testimony to the good job you and your moderators are doing.

However, I am of the opinion that some things are better said in private. There should be an avenue where you and your moderators "iron" out sensitive matters without necessarily involving other members.

I quite appreciate the openess and simplicity you exhibit which I must confess has been a source of inspiration to me personally, but sir I still believe that a house divided against itself is heading for ruin.

So sir, I appeal that some of this percieved disunity amongst your moderators be addressed and future disagreements be soughted out privately. You and your moderators should present a common front cause it is needed.

I am not trying to tell you how to run your business sir, cause truth be said: you have been running it wonderfully, but as a concerned nairalander I feel I have to say my bit.

PS: Let's try not to wash our dirty linen in public.

Thank you!
I assure you Seun has taken strides to address all the points you raised. It is up to the mods to implement it. Thanks.

^Your criticism is invalid. Mukina is just one of a handful of supermods responsible for putting topics on the homepage. Why should she be going out of her way to include "atheist" topics? are you listening to yourself? Why not also ask why she doesn't include pagan topics? and hindu topics? It is topics that generate traffic that usually get on. If atheist ones don't make it then perhaps it is because there simply isn't much interest. And it is up the posters to suggest threads and the mods to post them for the supermods.

You guys should stop thinking "everyone" is fighting against you when in reality we simply didn't notice you.

Christianity EtcRe: What's Wrong With Female Pastors? by JeSoul(f): 7:04pm On Jan 23, 2013
debosky: Personally, the best one can say is that Paul was simply recognising the societal hierarchy at the time and giving his own opinion, and not divine instruction. In absence of this, you can't really justify women leading congregations looking at Paul's teachings.
^that, my opinion on the matter.

Tgirl4real: Lol. We can't fight na. Haba! cheesy

To your post: what Jesus protrayed to us is that with God (in terms of salvation) there is no Jew or Gentile, Male or female, bond or free, rich or poor. We are all one in God's sight. However, we have different roles. Jesus accepting women and seeking that they being treated right doesn't mean they have the mandate to usurp authority. The same way he didn't tamper with the 'Head' authority in the home. The man is still the head of the family.

If Jesus was preaching that women can be elders, then he would have included @ least one woman when he selected his disciples or better still make them 6 males and 6 females to ensure gender equality. cheesy

Another flaw I see in this your position is that you are trying to say that some part of scriptures are greater than the other. So therefore, Jesus' words should be held over the other instructions contained therein. That is not right.

The word of God is one and there is no contradiction.
cheesy no fight at all jare smiley I view the issue in line with Debosky's quote above.

On Jesus not having female disciples...some years ago, I travelled with a group other musicians from my label for a show. I was the only female and it complicated a ton of things...where I would sit in the car, at the hotel there weren't enough rooms so all the guys had to clear out for only me, at the show they had to ensure I got enough time, afterwards there was the afterparty - they had to extra cautious with their convo, jokes etc etc...in short I couldn't help but feel like I was creating such a fuss for everyone.
I think Jesus having a female disciple would've been similar. Not that it was wrong or out of place, but just not logistically convenient for everyone. Women also have physical limitations men don't have (period, pregnancy etc etc) and I acknowledge that.

On the issue of "some scriptures greater than others". I view it this way - Jesus is the baseline, the foundation and everyone else's words/teachings/commands must be interpreted relative to that foundation. I see the radical way Jesus related with women and it leads me to believe a rigid interpretation of Paul's instructions cannot be right as it would be inconsistent.

Of course ^these are my persuations. May God in His mercy reveal His word to us that we may rightfully divide and apply and especially correct that which we have wrong (cos we all have at least one thing wrong smiley).

Cheers my dear sister.

Christianity EtcRe: Smith Wigglesworth Turns Water Into Petrol by JeSoul(f): 5:14pm On Jan 23, 2013
Youguyz, here is the story from your link: http://www.sermoncentral.com/sermons/thomas--moment-of-doubt-life-of-faith-john-gullick-sermon-on-faith-general-105392.asp?page=3

A Christian minister by the name of Harrison, who pastured a fellowship in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, had saved his petrol ration for a very special event. He’d secured the commitment ot the apostle of faith, Smith Wigglesworth to come and preach at his church, on condition that Harrison would pick him up from a previous preaching engagement in a neighbouring town.
All went well until the reached the middle of the Sherwood forest, famous for the legent of robin Hood. The two men squashed inside the tiny Morris eight sighed as the engine judderrred, spluttered, and finally stopped; out of fuel, still seventeen miles from their destination.
It was night time, with little prospect of help warrivint e3ven if anyone had petrol to spare.
Harrison had invited the world’s greatest preacher to visit his flock, yet stranded him in the middle of a dark forest slap in the middle of bomb blasted England.
What could he do.
Walk for help – find a phone?

Whilst Harrison Muulled over his options,. Wigglesworth had already received the solution from Head office.
‘AV y’got any water?’

“yes, I keep a can for topping up the radiator.”

“Puut it in t’petrol tank.” Ordered wigglesworth.

When Wigglesworth told people to do something; his bearing, auithority and stedfast faith, usually resulted in their speedy compliance.
Harrison obeyed – even though an egg cup of water can stop an engine.
He tipped his half gallon of water into the crs petrol tank.

Wigglesworth was calm and remained in his seat thanking god for another miracle.
Je’d been in this kind of situation countless times, and knew just how to overcome all obstacles.

Proverbs 2 verse 5 trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Wigglesworth had walked with god for decades, at a leval of rapport most believers cannot begin to imagine. Smith had learned the truth of this gospel fact:-
If you believe, yuou will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Matthew chapter 21 verse 22
Jesus promised it to his first disciples and it holds true for his disciples today and forever.

Harrison lunged the starting handle through half a turn with all his might. Silence.
Again he spun the handle the little Morris rocked on it’s leaf springs: wigglesworth impassive; believing, Still silence.

On the third cranking the 8 hp engine burbled miraculously into life. Harrison trotted amazed into the drivers seat. And pressed the throttle. The motor buzzed happily, and off they sped, reaching Sutton-in-Ashfield without furthur incident.

Wiglesworth arrived on time, where the Lord had sent him, and delivered the message of life.

Harrison had some of the liquid removed by a mechanic – it was pure petrol, not a trace of water. What’s more it was the correct colour for Nottinghamshire – green.

Jesus had not only turned water into petrol in response to Wigglesworth’s faith, but had even ensured it ws the legal colour too.

What is impossible with men’; is possible with God.

Luke chapter 18 verse 27. This introduces the second thing about Thomas’s believing.
He acted on what he believed. Belief is not academic it is practical applied trusting in the power of God.

We see this in the life of the Apostles of which Thomas was one:-

Tgirl4real: Thanks for the response.

From your explanation, I hope you know it isn't possible for a woman to be submissive to her husband while pastoring him at the same time without usurping authority. It is just not possible cos of what the pastoral calling entails.

A pastor is a leadership role that requires prophecying (proclaiming/declaring God's word in form of preaching) and we know the word is used in correction, admonition, rebuking and so on as seen in 2Tim 3:16. How can you do all these things as a woman you won't usurp? Are you saying she will be consulting her husband each time she needs to take decisions on behalf of the church?

Let's go down to the requirement for the office of a bishop as stated in 1Tim3 and Titus 1:6, it says "husband of one wife". So, it's clear the slot isn't for women.

We also know that in establishing biblical truths we look at examples we find in scriptures. No woman was ordained an elder in the early church, there were all men. Don't get me wrong. God's gifts are for all and any believer can function in them as the Spirit wills, but let's not meddle things up with the office of a pastor/bishop/elder - those are only for men.

There are several ways women can function in the congregation of the righteous. These includes but not limited to teaching other women and children, helps, music and so on.

Let a woman find her place and stop seeking to take over roles that are reserved for men.
Ahn ahn Tgirl this your own get as e be...we go fight oh! cheesy

There's one thing I know for sure is that if you follow the example of Jesus we won't go wrong. How did He treat women? did He break stereotypes? did He uphold traditional roles for them? how did He relate with them?

We keep in mind the answers as we try to interpret other NT scriptures because they must not be in contrast or contradiction with each other. Jesus broke all the rules when it came to women - its funny how we have tried to put them back. And the rules have never been in the favor of women all through history.

...okay I've finished 'fighting' with my sister Tgirl cheesy.
Hi JeSoul. My sister, happy new year to you too. Thank you for your kind words. Yes, a couple in a true marriage will not be s.exually attracted to some one else. The bond between such a husband and wife is of a "frequency" or "wavelength" that is different from that that emanates from others that are single, in non-genuine marriages and other genuine marriages. Now genuine marriage is not static but mobile and that means that the couples involved must continue to strengthen their love for one another and for GOD, as well as further develop those innate qualities which made them spiritually and psychically compatible in the first place. If one or both become negligent, stagnate or willfully refuse to further develop, then the living connection which their union established with the power of GOD begin to loosen, the strong bonds brought about by their genuine love and compatible qualities begin to weaken. They weaken because they are no longer maintained due to negligence, stagnation or indolence. Because of the weakened bond as I explained above, impure thoughts about others can begin to arise. Initially it may just be faint but if the couple continue to weaken the bonds as I explained above, then slowly but inevitably, a marriage that was once genuine no longer exists even though the couples may not be aware of it in the earthly sense. Thus what was once a genuine marriage may end up in divorce or in a soulless non-genuine marriage where all happiness have departed from them.

It is for this reason that we are admonished to "watch and pray". A bird in flight must continue to flab its wings to maintain itself in flight. If the bird loses its alertness and willfully refuse to flab its wings, it will start to descend and will fatally crash to the ground. This crude analogy can be applied to genuine marriages where the couples suddenly stagnate or refuse to further develop and mature the qualities that GOD endowed them with. Motion is a law of creation and there is no exception. Thus if a couple in genuine marriage start having s.exual feelings about others in thoughts, words, intent, imagination, physical action, then something has gone wrong and unless they muster all strength to strengthen the bond linking both of them, as well as the bond linking them to GOD, then these bonds will finally be cut off and the genuine marriage ceases to exist. "Watch and pray" are no empty words. It is a sacred call to spiritual mobility and alertness. As always stay blessed.
Very powerful stance. Thank you for elaborating. This is something I have quietly thought much about and to hear it expressed like this is a blessing. Thank you! I pray God grants us the grace to do according to His perfect will.
Foreign AffairsRe: Genocide Of Infantile Proportion by JeSoul(f): 7:23pm On Jan 22, 2013
Uncle Tayo, happy new year oh. Compliments of the past season. Grease to your elbows and goat meat to your egusi soup. I hope the whole family is doing better than well.
Tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary that no one in their right mind will love to celebrate. 40 years ago, our Government provided the legal cover that has resulted in the killing of the weakest amongst us. Some estimates say up to 55 million babies have been aborted since Roe v Wade.

Some will claim the law only provided the woman a right to do what she wants with her body. But that is only one side of the issue. What about the right to life of that baby? Why should the exercise of someone's right infringe on another's right to life? I am of the school of thought that "Your right end where mine begins". If only same rule can be applied in this case.

Today, the same Government is trying hard to infringe on our basic rights to protect ourselves. They are riding a wave of sentiments because of the dreadful shooting of some kids in our schools. They don't care about the kids. They only care about their political advantage and expanding the ability of Government to do whatever it wants with limited or ineffective opposition. If they cared about the kids, they will protect them irrespective of their stage of development.

More than guns, abortion has killed a lot more babies. It is the big elephant in the room that everyone has chosen to ignore. Through Roe v Wade, we now have daily killings that number more than the count on 911. This is nothing but genocide of infantile proportion.

More than life, our Government promotes death. This is such a shame.
Abortion makes me shiver deep in my soul...but uncle Tayo, it is still a woman's choice to make. Govt can only legislate 'morality' to a certain degree - and as long as you have human beings there will be 'sin'. I view it much like many other issues, it is a personal one and they will answer for it.
Christianity EtcRe: Marriage With Pregnancy: Is It A Sin To Attend? by JeSoul(f): 6:32pm On Jan 22, 2013
Hi truthislight. The union of a man and a woman who are meant for each other according to the laws of GOD has nothing to do with free s.ex and experimentation. On the contrary such a union is consecrated by the power of GOD, a power which banishes all lustful thoughts and desires. A man or woman who is inwardly pure do not indulge in secret or open impure wishes and desires. Spiritually free human beings are not victims of the over cultivated s.exual instinct, rather the fact that their marriage is a union of soul mates enables the couples to attract and absorb the purifying powers of GOD. A couple that has absorbed of this power are transformed human beings whose only desire is to bring joy and happiness to the beloved and not to soil him or her with impure wishes and desires. Indeed a marriage that is made in heaven is the best solution to to cure man`s morbid s.exual instinct and return this instinct to its healthy state. S.exual instinct in its healthy state does not torment men, rather, it is a gift of GOD which finds consummation in unions that are in accord with the laws of GOD. S.exual desires arising from a healthy s.exual instinct does not often occur in men. Today, the instinct is diseased and morbid and that is the reason why many a man or woman find it difficult to control. It also the reason why many cannot be in a relationship without harboring open or secret s.exual desires.

The condition for a s.exual relationship according to the laws of GOD is that there has been previously set in motion a perfect spiritual harmony, ie, a marriage according to the laws of GOD. Therefore, the question of s.exually sampling one person after another is totally out of question. When two couples are meant for each other, then the chords holding them together are unbreakable, thus the permanence of the marriage is assured from the very start. The same unbreakable bond of love which has received a higher consecration from the power of GOD eliminates any desire for another man or another woman. The observation that couples in "married" or "unmarried" unions still openly or secretly harbour s.exual desires about another man or woman that is not his spouse or partner is an infallible sign that that marriage did not fulfill the criteria for a genuine marriage according to the laws of GOD, or that one or both partners have stagnated and have refused to develop spiritually, psychically and physically.

Young men and women who are in search of the person meant for them do not need to travel all the continents looking for a soul mate. If they allow the small still voice within them to grow and not forcefully silence it, then, they will very easily identify the man or woman who is their own according to the laws of GOD. Experiencing such a true marriage will give them the conviction that marriage is indeed made in heaven. Stay blessed.
Hello MNwankwo,

Happy new year sir. I find this post fascinating and simply lovely! Question if I may, you mean a couple who is in a 'true marriage' will never be sexually attracted to someone else? as TruthisLight mentioned, where/how do make room for the shortcomings of men seeing the vast majority of the world does not see marriage like this?

Cheers.
