@Candour, Godbless you brother!

@TV wassup!

@moredendisc, how body now?

Goshen360: Following the Spirit of my two brothers - moredendisc and TV01, I love these two brothers including sister WAM. I'm subject to the Spirit of Christ in my brothers and the Spirit of correction.

Disclaimer: If you're not convinced by my teachings, kindly discard and search the scriptures for yourself to disprove or accept what is taught. I have said what I said in pure heart and do not intend to make my brethren fall by my knowledge.

Our God sees my heart and judges everyone not because you're doing something because somebody said it. God will further ask you, don't you have the Bible for yourself to find out like the Bereans if what is said by Goshen360 is true or false. I have only challenged and said what I said as per my new stance in accordance with my knowledge. I'm not responsible for how you or anyone live their faith in the body of Christ. Ihereby lay my arguments to rest as far as this subject is concern. Let every man be persuaded by the word of God and the Spirit of God

God bless you all.
It is well brother Goshen.

The portion of your quote in bold - au contraire my brother, by virtue of your obvious popularity & cred on NL among Christians, you absolutely are 'responsible' in a sense.

James 3
1Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.

You are obviously a 'teacher' on NL to Christians whether you like it or not smiley. And your words will carry more weight than say brother Ukochi (whom many probably don't know) whose been posting his links for years but hardly gets more than 1 or 2 comments. All in all, God will convince each of us of His perfect will - this may have been a case to prayerfully apply Romans 14:22.

You may believe there’s nothing wrong with what you are doing, but keep it between yourself and God.

Godbless ehn.

@all, let us not get caught up in emotion my brothers & sisters. I'm sure we all want to please God in our lives. Even as we disagree, let us do so with a loving spirit - one that does not have the need to win the argument more than it seeks to love its brother.

Furthermore, I think we are laying down rabbit traps and stumbling stones by playing with hypothetics. Most of us live in countries/cultures where certain behavior is considered appropriate or inappropriate - aligning your spiritual beliefs with what is culturally appropriate is the godly thing to do. As such, questions like whether you'll need to invite wedding guests to a secluded island cheesy should not even come up because it will be obviously inappropriate for that circumstance. On the other side, shacking up with your intended spouse in a society like say naija will obviously cause eyelids to bat because it in inappropriate - whether or not you both personally believe you are already married in the sight of God - after all, the same bible tells us to avoid the very appearance of wrong or sin and na the same bible talk say we do not live unto ourselves - we represent Christ, and should not use our liberty carelessly - if not for anything but for the sake of unity & peace.

May God help us all. Amen!
Nairaland GeneralRe: GIVE US ATHEISM SECTION by JeSoul(f): 6:31pm On Feb 10, 2013
As the christian mod here let me assure on behalf of my brethren, we are not bothered let alone be afraid of you guys. Your request was 'rejected & hidden' by the atheist mod. Frankly I would support the creation of a separate section for y'all - you can go and do your kumbaya there cheesy. But your fellows wouldn't agree because of the obvious truth - most of you guys are obsessed with religion and need to scratch that itch by bashing religion 24/7. Plain & simple.

Cheers.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Is Sex A Sin? by JeSoul(f): 11:34pm On Feb 08, 2013
Very interesting thread. If I may be so bold as to interject...

I think this is a great example of how we complicate otherwise simple issues, get hung on up on words & definitions not putting directives in their proper context. Without having to quote a single verse (and I hope everyone will agree with me), but I believe God in His infinite wisdom has inherently equipped us with knowledge of what is wrong/right and acceptable in His sight. We don't need concordances, hebrew translations, latin dictionaries etc etc We have the holy spirit indwelling in us as the ultimate guide. Going by this, I believe questions like 'church wedding' 'dowry' 'consent' 'fornication' etc are all red herrings...no two situations are exactly alike. Godly wisdom is needed to determine what is appropriate/inappropriate depending on the unique circumstances you find yourself in.

^so by God's grace, let us try to not to lay down hard and fast, take it or leave it rules that declare one situation right or wrong.

That said, here is a recent submission from MNwankwo that I believe is 100% divinely inspired. It is worthy to note sir Nwankwo is not a 'Christian' - which shows you don't need to be a 'Christian' to know right from wrong. May God bless this man and increase his favor in this life and beyond.
Hi truthislight. The union of a man and a woman who are meant for each other according to the laws of GOD has nothing to do with free s.ex and experimentation. On the contrary such a union is consecrated by the power of GOD, a power which banishes all lustful thoughts and desires. A man or woman who is inwardly pure do not indulge in secret or open impure wishes and desires. Spiritually free human beings are not victims of the over cultivated s.exual instinct, rather the fact that their marriage is a union of soul mates enables the couples to attract and absorb the purifying powers of GOD. A couple that has absorbed of this power are transformed human beings whose only desire is to bring joy and happiness to the beloved and not to soil him or her with impure wishes and desires. Indeed a marriage that is made in heaven is the best solution to to cure man`s morbid s.exual instinct and return this instinct to its healthy state. S.exual instinct in its healthy state does not torment men, rather, it is a gift of GOD which finds consummation in unions that are in accord with the laws of GOD. S.exual desires arising from a healthy s.exual instinct does not often occur in men. Today, the instinct is diseased and morbid and that is the reason why many a man or woman find it difficult to control. It also the reason why many cannot be in a relationship without harboring open or secret s.exual desires.

The condition for a s.exual relationship according to the laws of GOD is that there has been previously set in motion a perfect spiritual harmony, ie, a marriage according to the laws of GOD. Therefore, the question of s.exually sampling one person after another is totally out of question. When two couples are meant for each other, then the chords holding them together are unbreakable, thus the permanence of the marriage is assured from the very start. The same unbreakable bond of love which has received a higher consecration from the power of GOD eliminates any desire for another man or another woman. The observation that couples in "married" or "unmarried" unions still openly or secretly harbour s.exual desires about another man or woman that is not his spouse or partner is an infallible sign that that marriage did not fulfill the criteria for a genuine marriage according to the laws of GOD, or that one or both partners have stagnated and have refused to develop spiritually, psychically and physically.

Young men and women who are in search of the person meant for them do not need to travel all the continents looking for a soul mate. If they allow the small still voice within them to grow and not forcefully silence it, then, they will very easily identify the man or woman who is their own according to the laws of GOD. Experiencing such a true marriage will give them the conviction that marriage is indeed made in heaven. Stay blessed.
To see the rest: https://www.nairaland.com/1168742/marriage-pregnancy-it-sin-attend/1#13947524

Christianity EtcRe: What's Wrong With Female Pastors? by JeSoul(f): 8:28pm On Feb 07, 2013
damiso: Reading this thread and learning alot.As the bible says Iron sharpeneth Iron.

I worship in one of the most popular churches in Nigeria here in the UK.I serve in the childrens church,Youth church,a sunday school teacher and a couple of other duties Ours is a small parish and my pastor keeps trying to enrol me in the next pastoral leadership classes.

I have told him over and over again that i do not want to be a pastor and have even backed it up scriptures and even told him the main reason why i kick against it is my Husband does not worship in our church.I was born a muslim and converted to christianity and we used to worship together at the C of E(anglican church) till i started worshipping elsewhere when he was away for a while. He allowed me the free rein to worship where i want if i felt i was more spiritually in tune there BUT refuses to come along with me.

I know and i am convinced by the Holy Spirit that i do not want to be a pastor.I seek no such officein order to validate my Salvation in christ Jesus and TBH even if my husband was a pastor i still would not want to be one.I strongly believe in this scripture about our diff roles in the body of christ

"There are diversities of Gifts, but the same spirit. There are differences of ministries but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities but it is the same God who works in all"(1Cor 12:4-6).

I dont believe my role is being a pastor but he keeps saying he sees in me a leader and one of the best candidates in his parish.I spoke to my husband and though he is not against it i cant tell from his demeanour he is not too keen. His words were do what the spirit ministers to you.I have two young kids under 5 and as it is it seems the roles clash.Sometimes when i cant meet up,my pastor even says i am using my kids as an excuse in slacking in my duties in the things of God and that who gave me those kids?

I have a strong conviction that i am called by God to make an impact for Him but not as a pastor.I have refused to fill the form and he is more or less saying i am rejecting the Call to serve.I keep praying about this and i am.not convinced to be a pastor.I will not be a people pleaser but look to Christ who is the author and finisher of my faith.

I have quite a couple of Teens am mentoring at the moment and they are the reason i would not want to leave this parish but seriously considering doing so if i keep getting pressured.I head follow up and even get told off for not pressuring people to become workers.
Reading this thread as even thrown up some more questions on whether or not i should even be leading a church which seems to be where this seems to be leading.

Pls my dear bro and sisters in Christ how do i stand my ground in love without seeming rebellious?
Hello dear sister Damiso,
I thank God for your life that you are seeking to do His will. I am a very very strong proponent of letting the peace of God guide you into all things. You should be fully convinced in your heart before undertaking any role of serving - especially one as demanding as 'pastor-hood'.

Part of a (your) pastors role is to encourage, gently prod and push you to greater faith and servitude within the body - BUT it must be a gentle Holy-Spirit influenced kind of pressure - NOT the kind that makes you feel guilty for simply wanting to spend time with your young children. Yes he wants you to serve the God that gave them to you - but your duty is to first serve your husband and and your children 100%, and then if you have any strength left over, the church. Let your pastor know as respectfully as possible but also be firm.

Personally, I have no reservations about women leading a congregation in the absence of qualified men (ideally) - others obviously feel differently - and God is His mercies will help us all. I wish you the very best sis smiley. May God continue to bless and guide you according to His perfect will. Amen.
I don't know if Dwight didn't do his research on just how ornery Kobe could get! Kobe also plays with injuries so people tend to listen when he talks. On this issue he does have a point especially as Dwight has still not committed himself to the Lakers going forward so he has not endeared himself to the members of the team who probably see the possibility of him leaving in the off season anyway! However I do sympathize with Dwight in the sense that his shoulders are the most important part of his game. They do the most work and receive the most punishment from the opposition! Its easy to tell people to suck it up but not everyone has the same pain threshold
Abi oh. Don't mind Kobe. Dwight should risk his long-term health for a long-shot at a title and reduce his off-season chances at a mega-sega contract? Kobe needs to be realistic jor.

Lakers vs Celtics tonight
Sweet! I just scored some tix too. First time I'll be seeing Kobe play live...and hopefully Howard plays too. And if my jazzman is on point Celtics will extend the streak to 6 and send the lakers to further oblivion cheesy

Indeed, there are no answers to such simple questions.
But those are the real questions that deserve answers.
Au contraire. There are answers - the knock is I don't think you are interested in the answers smiley...especially when you go ahead and punctuate your post with the below declarations:

With that in mind, Despite all the noise about the messiahship of Jesus, I dont personally see any greatly positive impact the coming of jesus had for the jews in that era, and to humanity in general. One can argue that the reverse has been the case.

Imagine what possible trajectory human development and progress would have taken if the accident of history had sidestepped Paul's apostolic doctrines, or if, Constantine had not embraced christianity for political expediency.

Imagine if the Europeans had sidestepped the dark Ages?
Well as it stands Gasol also got injured last night tear of plantar fascia. So the Lakers more or less can't trade anyone anyway.
Damn this season is star-crossed for the Lakers

Cantankerous Kobe mocking Dwight again lol! "He's never had to play through injuries in his career" grin grin
You just gotta love Kobe lol. See his words:

"We don't have time for (Howard's shoulder) to heal,"

"He just wants people to like him. He doesn't want to let anyone down, and that gets him away from what he should be doing"

"(Howard) has never been in a position where someone is driving him as hard as I am, as hard as this organization is," Bryant told MacMullan. "It's win a championship or everything is a complete failure. That's just how (the Lakers) do it. And that's foreign to him."

Chei! see as Kobe just finished him. Lol. One has to wonder how much more Dwight can take before he explodes and makes his own comments in public...Lakers Soap Opera is pretty interesting this year.
