Exporting The Jobs.. I remembered when shoprite open their first shop @Ibadan. It generate a tough arguments on nairaland. "Who will patronise them? Some asked " Ibadan has low purchasing power, others maintained But surprisingly, shoprite open another outlets in Ibadan less than a year after the first one was opened. And today we can all testify to how many outlets they have all over Nigeria. Surprisingly why millions of Nigerian youth roam the street in search of non available job, the available jobs are daily been exported out. Let me take you through a walk to the fruits and vegetable section of any of the chain stores. There is no time you get there that you will not get an array of fresh fruits and vegetables well displayed on the shelfs But why Nigerians are jobless, some farmers are producing this fruits and vegetable from neighbouring African countries like South Africa, Ghana etc Then it gets air freight to Nigeria, the giant consumer but non producing of Africa The imported fruits and vegetables are paid for in dollars.. In the production chain, we have... * Farmers * Transporters * Parkers *Cleaners * Security men * Ware house service provider.. * Seed sellers * Harvesters And all sort of workers whose needs and want of job are filled along the line. But here on our soil, our youth see farming as old man job, dirty job. You now see how jobs get exported outside the shore of Nigeria. We have the land We have the resources What we lack is human resources and proper coordination to form the system. . |

bassey25:Have you planted one before? I am guessing No. I learnt not to argue with internet mouth farmers. It save me so much data and time Let's discuss better when you start farming Cheers |
mbafarmer2018:I will suggest you set some few months aside to go get some practical experience and the whole details about how the vegetable production and system work on Nigeria. Please forget any internet suggestion or plan you might get from anyone. The best way to understand the system is practise and experience by yourself. olurich01:Can be reached @ adesola_yinka@yahoo.com |
gnykelly:Don't dare go to farm without taking time to understudy a cassava farmer for minimum of a year. Yes. Minimum of a year Anything less will be throwing your money down the drain. Forget the internet advice, suggestion and guidelines. Reality is quite different |
The school system did not actually prepare the agric graduates for the life after school activities. So many farms are in need of farm managers which a Nigerian University graduates know nothing about. To absorb a graduate, the companies need to re train them again on what it entails to be an agriculturist Starting out alone is not as easy as people make it to be on paper. Reality in life us different from the rumours I will suggest you attach yourself to a company, farm etc to gain more practical experience before setting out on your own. You will be saving yourself some tonnes of naira. Just my own opinion |
olurich01:We have existing job vacancy for farm managers, farm supervisors etc. You will have to go through 3-6 months internship training before we can post you out to manage or supervise a farm. |
Location and how much? |
