Must the Government feed on Oil? I dont think this will any way affect the Government afterall they said the region gives just 5% to the Economy.

So i expect the FG to finance its 2016 budget from the proceeds it gets from the the region that gives Nigeria 95%.

A government source expressed worries to Saturday Tribune over the spate of attacks on the pipelines and the effect on the 2016 budget.

“Two months from now, the effect will be known. What we are sharing now is money that accrued to our accounts about three months ago when there was relative stability in the oil sector. So, the effect of these militant activities will be known in August. It is very worrisome.

“You know those militants have almost crippled the oil industry, destroying an average of two major pipelines per day. By next month, states that will be able to pay salaries may not be more than five,” he said.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, during the week, put Nigeria’s output at 1.6 million barrels per day (bpd) while the Avengers claimed they had reduced Nigeria’s output to 800,000 bpd.

The statement partly read: “President Buhari has, in the last year, worked hard to repair Nigeria’s previously tarnished image in the international community; restored the territorial integrity of our country by ensuring the containment of the erstwhile rampaging Boko Haram insurgency and has waged an unrelenting and vigorous war against corruption as he promised in his electioneering campaign.

“The President, being fully aware of the tough economic challenges facing Nigerians, has directed his focus on the salvaging of our battered and prostrate economy.

“The very parlous state of the economy inherited by this administration, which has been further battered by the collapse of the price of crude oil and the massive corruption by the past administration, does not need any further restating.

“However, the government has courageously faced these challenges by taking tough decisions necessary to bring our economy back to buoyancy and self-sustaining growth.”

Odigie-Oyegun explained that one of such tough but inevitable decisions was the liberalisation of the petroleum downstream sector and the consequent hike in petrol price which led to a call out of workers on an indefinite strike by labour.

The chairman assured Nigerians that the APC administration held their trust to be sacred and would do all humanly possible to ensure that the tough times did not last.

According to him, the 2016 budget which includes N500bn dedicated to social intervention will begin to have positive impact very soon.

He called on Nigerians to put aside any differences and join President Muhammadu Buhari to design and lay a strong foundation for a new economy that assures self-sustaining growth and shared prosperity for our people.

You mean he repaired our tarnished image by calling us criminals in his foreign trips?
Ad what good had he done in the economy so far that has plunged Nigeria from manageable to hungry country. The price of commodities has increase so much our hard aimed money is not enough to satiate our stomach fully. Or is it the no light, the increase in fuel price, the strong arm system employed on labour Congress. What particular good has he done that is taking this long to be felt by the masses?

All we have been hearing so far is money came, money is to come, but none of that has been felt by Nigerians economy, despite the borrowing... the masses are hungry, and in any case the wealthy ones of the ecountry are clueless a cup of garri is 100 in some places and 50 in others.

And to add it all up, does he for once think if he is moving the country forward the masses would have any reason to frown or back him in his quest to bring better Nigeria?

All we have seen so far are empty words, empty actions, and no results.

If things continue like this.... if Nigerias naira value continue to flutter downwards like the leaves when they're plugged by the wind to the floor, if the price of commodities continue to frown and not smile, what would be the new challenge for Nigerians would be famine, high mortality rate, and a clueless presido.
