Uyi Iredia: Okay. Whilst I'll still explore the tethering option to be sure. How do I go about using BB as a modem using a mobile internet plan: and can I separately use my BB plan for the BB and the mobile internet for browsing with my laptop using BB as a modem ?

How to use your BB as a modem
1. as a Mobile Hotspot: This is exclusive to BlackBerry devices running OS 7.1, as that is the only version of the OS that has the mobile hotspot functionality built in. It basically turns your device into a wifi hotspot that can support up to five device connections.
Setting it up is as easy as seen below:
Go to “Manage Connections” on your device (a shortcut is to tap on the bar that displays time on your device).

Check the Mobile Hotspot box (It will automatically turn on the wifi option).

If this is your first time and the network hasn’t sent you the mobile hotspot service book entry, it will prompt you to enter network settings (APN, Username and password).

Wait for the prompt, and that’s it! Your Hotspot is running!

You can check the hotpot options to change the name of the hotspot, password and other connection options.

Uyi Iredia: @ JideSM: I want to use my BB Torch 1 as a modem to my phone. Is that allowed under the BB plans ? I'm currently using BBC (monthly plan). If allowed, kindly give me the details, I just installed the latest BB desktop software ?

To use your BB as a modem, you need a mobile internet plan(non BB plan). Tethering using your BIS/BBC plan is currently not available

Sorry about that. Kindly ensure that your data service is turned on by sending DATA ON to 131 and doing a hard reset on your BB device. Data charge of 0.1kobo/KB applies(if you have no active mobile data bundle)

MTN BIS monthly and MTN BBC monthly cost 1500naira and 1000naira respectively

Hello all, please note that you can do a fresh BlackBerry subscription if you reach the fair usage threshold before expiry of your current BB plan. Simply text the required code of your choice e.g BBC to 21600 and your new plan will be activated. If you face any issues, please PM your phone number

BADNEAT: Mr Jide...good morning, will like to commend you for the good work you're doing here...well I have a very serious problem. .I bought and registered this line (081032*****) about 2 months ago. ..but my problem with it is that it has refused to browse. .both on my blackberry and my galaxy note2. .I actually bought that sim so I can be using it for my Internet data and 2nd sim..all bundles and subscriptions I've done on it was a total waste of my cash...called customer care but got no positive response. .mind u..I get the internet network(thats egde 3g h+) they even pushed settings to my phone buh not browsing. ..it is not about it not being registered cos I make receive calls and texts. .Please I will be most grateful if you help me with this..the number again is 081032*****..thanks in anticipation of your speedy response

Please state the data bundle subscribed and your current phone type.
Checks on your line shows no record of active data bundle.
Also, I confirmed you have active Blackberry subscription but the SIM is not in a Blackberry device at the moment.

Hello hobat4cash, simply text Cancel to 4100 if you wish to deactivate Callertunez from your line.

igbsam: Oga jide....what is the use of giving extra credit as bonus if I cannot even use it. I loaded 1000 naira on my line and I was given extra 1000 naira as bonus to call only mtn numbers. I placed a call to another mtn number but was charged from the main account and the bonus account remained the same only for it to dissappear the following day. What kind of mind game is that ? How can I use it. If its for family and friends, the number I called is a registered FAF number. Waiting for replies.

At first I couldn't get edge or 3G for about 3 months , whenever I called in, the guys attended to me like I was a novice
Even after retrieving my line it persisted till about 2 months later .
even the tech guy at the MTN shop at owerri still couldn't fix it

Right now I cannot send a text on my line no matter the phone I put it into
I have confirmed the message center number again and again
I can use other MTN sims to text on my phone
But I cannot text with my SIM on my phone or any other .
can you help me fix it ?

Since dat day av called almost 15 different customer care agent n they confirmed that i was actually charged for it n promised to refund my money but they advised dat i should wait for some days because the application they wanted to use wasn't responding. So i waited, but wen i called back today, one stupid agent told me i wasn't charged for the 100hr plan...well I dnt want to talk much, if u guys knw wat is good, u better refund my credit before i do somtin stupid.

All services remain intact. If you have your contacts stored in the SIM, please backup before doing the SIM swap

majalisa: what happens if u have reached ur fair usage on a bis plan yet u have an active bis subscription?

When you reach the fair usage limit, you are charged 0.1k per kilobyte for data services. If you wish not to use Pay As You Go(0.1k/kb), you could subscribe to a non BB data plan to use until your BIS expires. We could also assist in deactivating your BIS to enable you activate another one
