PoliticsRe: Boko-Haram Release French Family Kidnapped In Cameroun by jidewin(m): 9:05am On Apr 20, 2013
Ifetex: A French family of seven including four children kidnapped in north Cameroon and taken to Nigeria by suspected Boko Haram militants have been released, a senior Cameroon official said on Friday.

"They are all alive and well," Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, secretary general of Cameroon's presidency, said in a statement carried by state radio. He said the family had been handed to Cameroon authorities late on Thursday.

The family, which was on holiday, was abducted in February by men on motorcycles, armed with Kalashnikovs in Dabanga about 10 km (six miles) from the Nigerian border near the Waza national park, reports Reuters.

Gunmen claiming to be from Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram later released videos of the family, threatening to kill them if authorities in Nigeria and Cameroon did not release Muslim militants held there.

The parents of the family, which included two boys and two girls as well as another relative, worked for French utility firm GDF Suez.

Laws of social media power

April 19, 2013 by Blossom Nnodim (blcompere@gmail.com @blcompere)

The book, “The 48 Laws of Power”, an international bestseller, is a practical guide for anyone who wants power, observes power, or wants to arm himself against power. It has sold over 1.2 million copies in the United States alone and is popular with famous rappers, entrepreneurs, celebrities, athletes and actors. The book is intended to show people how to gain power, preserve it, and defend themselves against power manipulators. Each law is its own chapter, complete with a “transgression of the law,” “observation of the law,” and a “reversal.”

When American author and speaker, Robert Greene, began to write what later became an international bestseller, I am pretty certain that he would have effortlessly assented to the fact that his general themes of strategy, power and seduction would one day play out in the social media space. Thanks to the unwavering passion by Robert to see to the emergence of this amazing book, I have an opportunity to relate these globally accepted rules to social media. Out of the 48, I have been able to find a direct linkage between seven and the power play found on the social media space.

Law 1: Never outshine the master

The master here refers to folks that are deemed to have a higher online influence than you. Always make them feel comfortably superior. Always submit to them. This plays out more when using the Twitter platform. Ensure to retweet their every thought and feed their ego with honest excitement. Chances are that they will take notice of your “famzing” (an act of familiarising yourself with a Twitter celebrity) and subsequently give you a shout out.

Law 4: Always say less than necessary

The character limit policy on most social media platforms have made this quite easy to adapt to. Even a fool is assumed to be brilliant when his/her mouth is closed. Powerful people impress and intimidate by saying less. The more you say, the more likely you are to say something foolish. Always play on the power of suspense. Let people volunteer conclusions for you. After all, publicity is publicity whether negative or positive.

Law 6: Court attention at all cost

There are a lot of folks currently using social media. Conversations are quick in arising and equally fast in getting into the white noise arena. Never let yourself or your thoughts get lost in the busy and crowded street of social media. Stand out. Be conspicuous, at all cost. Make yourself a magnet of attention by appearing larger, more colourful, and more mysterious, than the bland and timid masses. Your updates should be unique enough to strike a pose all by itself.

Law 19: Know who you are dealing with. Do not offend the wrong person

There are ‘certified’ social media celebrities. They have a large number of followers that are always on standby to teach you the rules of the game if you dare to offend them. These folks should not be your target of offence. Steer clear from them or be at the mercy of their equally certified “voltrons” (mouth piece of the social media celebrity). A voltron is one that will go to any length to ensure that the Social Media celebrity’s effect of his/her “famzing” subject is maintained for a period. On the other hand, if he/she feels that the subject is not worthy of attention, the “vextron” attitude is unleashed. This involves using abusive words on the subject and most often make the subject an object of ridicule, scorn and mockery. Choose your victims and opponents carefully, then never offend or deceive the wrong person.

Law 25: re-create yourself

Social Media gives you the instant platform to re-create yourself. Deliberately forge a new identity, one that commands attention and never bores the audience. Ensure to add as much dramatic devices into your public gestures and actions to enhance your power. You can make people to believe that you are whoever you want them to think. You can make folks assume that your hustle is paying you in six digits even when the next source of income for the soon-to-expire Internet subscription is unknown. You can add as many friends as you possibly can and be as popular as you can be. You can know anything you want to know, when you want to know it, and connect with issues and acquaintances in an effortless instance. You can be the best football analyst even when you are not watching the ongoing game.

Law 36: Disdain things you cannot have: Ignoring them is the best revenge

If you cannot have it or if the very act of ensuring that stuff comes your way, ignore it. Better still, disdain it. By acknowledging an inconsequential challenge, you end up giving it unnecessary attention and credibility. It is sometimes best to leave things alone, especially small things. If there is something you want but cannot have, show absolute contempt for it. The less interest you reveal, the more superior you seem.

Law 38: Think as you like but behave like others

Follow the crowd! Follow the crowd! Follow the crowd! The fact that this same sentence is repeated three times is enough to draw the much needed attention to the meaning. If you make a show of going against the social media crowd, flaunting your assumed superiority, unconventional ideas and unorthodox ways, folks will think that you only want attention and will certainly ensure that you pay the price for making them feel inferior. It is far safer to blend in and nurture the common touch. Share your superior or dissenting views with tolerant friends, acquaintances and those who are sure to appreciate your uniqueness.

There we have them. I will not pretend that this rules did not bring so much laughter to my furrowed brow even as I furiously hammered away on my keyboard. Go ahead laugh it off but do me a favor of ensuring to utilize all or some when the opportunity calls for it.

ZUBY77: Dear fellow West African neighbours,
The news originating from your country since yesterday is that our under 17 boys who trashed you 6:1 at the on going Caf Under 17 nations cup are over aged.
Apart from the MRI machine which disqualified about three of our players, how else do you determine the age of our boys? Probably by the score line. Hahahahaha.
Did we present over aged players at the South African nations cup where we trashed Mali and Burkinafaso that defeated you with ten men?

You must accept the fact that the giant of Africa is back to where it belongs.
The last time you won nations cup was over thirty years ago when we were still recovering from civil war.
Now that we have recovered fully, you will not win anything again whether it is under 17 or over 17. Just pray that we dont meet you on any knockout stage of any competitive sports. We are on top now.
Please help us tell your western neighbour of Ivory Coast what we said.
Their leader called Dede Dgoba congratulated us after we beat them in South Africa while your lousy Amasoa giam claimed that you would have beaten us if we met.
Our under 17 boys are actually under 17. The differences between you and us is malnutrition. Your boys dont feed well.. You eat bread with yam, how do you want to grow with such combination? Havent you heard about protein before?
We are not interested in the statistics that says ''Ghana is economically growing faster than Nigeria. The economy of Lagos state is bigger than that of your entire nation. We are pretty fine down here...
Please do not make the same mistakes North Korea is trying to make by provoking the Mighty USA and China. That was why Jumong always beat Dea-So. Arrogance!!

Thank you.

HealthRe: Stop Wearing Bras, Scientists Warn Women by jidewin(m): 1:46pm On Apr 19, 2013
Slyr0x: Bras do nothing to help support a woman’s breasts and could even be causing damage, research has found.

The Telegraph of London reported on Friday that for years, women have been taught of the virtues of a good bra in order to make the most of their assets and defy the pull of gravity. grin grin

Now a French study has claimed that breasts gain no benefit from underwear support and that women would do better to go without them.

Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon of Besançon University spent 15 years studying the anatomy of 330 women, before coming to the conclusion that bras are a “false necessity.”

Professor Rouillon said: “Medically, physiologically and anatomically, breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity.” cheesy cheesy

The study found that breasts were firmer and sagged less in the women who did not wear a bra, and such women were no more likely than others to suffer from back pain.

The sports scientist, who has been researching the subject since 1997, using a slide rule and a caliper, found a 7mm difference in the height of bosoms; with those who went without a bra faring best against gravity.

Professor Rouillon suggested that breasts become “dependent” on lingerie support once women start wearing it, meaning that supporting muscle is under-used and degrades more quickly.

He said his initial results “validated the hypothesis that the bra is a false ‘necessity’” but that he would not advise women who have relied on bras for years to cast them aside.”

Some of the women who took part in the experiment, carried out at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (University Hospital) in Besançon, said stopping wearing a bra had even helped ease back pains.

British research on post-menopausal women has previously suggested that those who wear a bra are more likely to suffer breast pain.

TravelRe: Odozor 20, Graduates As Youngest Licensed-Pilot With Others by jidewin(m): 1:55pm On Apr 15, 2013
Abagworo: Mr. Odozor who graduated alongside 15 other trained pilots at the Afrika Union Aviation Academy (AUAA), Mafikeng, South Africa on Saturday was described as the new hope of the African aviation industry.

Capt. Allan Roebuck, Director of AUAA, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Johannesburg that Mr. Odozor completed all the 37 flying procedures in record time.

“The academy is proud of this young Nigerian, with the award of licence and certificate to him. Today, I can say he is the youngest commercial licence pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa.

“I cannot say now if he is the youngest African to attain that record, but I’m sure he is the youngest in South Africa and Nigeria,’’ he said.

The AUAA director noted that it requires a lot of hard work, focus, punctuality and discipline to be trained as a commercial pilot.

“It is not enough to be academically sound to be a good pilot. It requires focus, punctuality, and  discipline to get the commercial licence and certificate.

“It has been a long road for the group of qualified pilots to obtain their licences. With the award of certificate, they can fly commercial planes,’’ Mr. Roebuck said.

He said the new pilots underwent two years of rigorous training and 37 flying procedures.

On his part, Mr. Odozor said he had always dreamt of becoming a pilot.

“Flying a plane has been my childhood dream, and I am happy today that I’m a licensed commercial pilot at the age of 20.
“I never expected myself to be the youngest Nigerian to get the commercial pilot licence, not to talk about in an advanced country like South Africa. I was just pursuing my childhood dream of being a pilot.

“But I thank God that I have now made history, as a record licensed commercial pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa,’’ Mr. Odozor said.

He said his immediate plan was to go for his instrument type and rating courses.

“Aviation training is very wide. This is just the beginning. My immediate plan is to enrol for my instrument type rating and Boeing 737 training courses,’’ Mr. Odozor said.

Mr. Odozor has equalled the record set by Ed Gardner, a Briton, who obtained  his commercial pilot licence at the age of 20 in 2008.

Before heading for South Africa for training, the Nigerian attended Uchenna Secondary School in Owerri, the Imo State capital, graduating in 2009.

In an interview with Showtime,Nollywood actress MonaLisa Chinda bares her mind for the first time on her love life, crashed marriage and accomplishments.
Here is an extract from the interview:

Do you still believe in love?

I believe in love.Love is the reason for our existence. It's really not enough if you want to get something done, you have to do away with that emotion and be real.

We learnt that you are planning to go into marriage again,is it true?
I would love to remarry.Infact, I am designed to be under a man.I am not going to lie that I like this single mother nomenclature. But wherever there is one at the moment one is bound to get used to the situation. It is not a do or die affair because one has been there before, anything I have to do now must be done right.
I am not in the school of thought where the first one happened and perhaps the second one .No, any bold step I have to take in settling down must be right.I am not ready to make another mistake but I will definitely remarry.I believe in the principles of marriage whether you like it or not marriage is a better option.

How soon are planning to settle down?
I honestly do not know about that and I can't tell for now.

Have you found love again?
It's neither here nor there.I am a lover and I love to love.

Your fans will want to know if there is any man in your life at the moment?
Yes there is a man in my life.

Lanre Nzeribe right?
No comment. This is my private life.

People are alleging that you are pregnant for him?
You can see that I am not pregnant.Naturally I am not pregnant for anybody.

What do you regret most about your past?
One thing I regret most is the fact that I am divorced .Where I come from I am the first daughter.I am from a royal family .It has never been on record that the first daughter will walk out of her matrimonial home. But it is a matter of life and death otherwise I would have stayed back and make my marriage work.I tried to make it work but it takes two people to tango .
That's the only thing I regret, raising my child without the father. It's a bit painful. But I have to live with it.It's better that way than to expose my daughter to all sorts of domestic violence. It will definitely disorient her and affect her upbringing. She will be dis-functional.God knows the best, maybe I should be more careful.
be careful of friends who gives you advises that bothers most times on " Think about yourself first". A timely separation and a possible reconciliation would have saved you this agony". Well its a lesson. No matter how famous or wealthy you could be... single parent hood isn't always the best. It's a classic western bullshit to encourage 'freelancing and adultery".....It is not good that man (woman) should live alone............

Lilimax: About 250 aliens were, yesterday, arrested by a combined security operatives comprising the Military, Police and Department of State Security, DSS, in Lagos, as part of strategy to nip in the bud infiltration of terrorists into the state.

The raid, as gathered, was carried out at Gatangowa market at Abulegba, along the Lagos/Abeokuta expressway between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Vanguard gathered that the Lagos State government had charged security agencies in the state to go back to the drawing boards and map out strategies that would check excesses of terrorists as well as beef up their operational might

Sources at the DSS told Vanguard that the arrested aliens were discovered to have entered the country without the necessary papers. Sources further informed that although that was not enough to libel them terrorists, it was just a measure put in place to check the influx of likely terrorists into Lagos State.

Although DSS sources did not disclosed whether any explosive was recovered from the arrested persons but informed that they would be repatriated to their respective countries, with a stern warning never to return without proper documentation.

“ This is a collaborative effort by men of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy , Police and our men. This is just the beginning. It is an ongoing raid and we will not relent until we are satisfied with our intelligence report”,DSS sources said.

And why wont they legalize same sex marriage when the head is not in the right frame of mind?
I have come to a realisation that it would be best to marry a white man. Ever since i was younger i always felt this attraction to white men, there is just something so sexy and a lil taboo abt white men that i just cannot get out of my system. But its not only physically but mentally too.

White men do not have the same complexes and villager mentality as some of the blk men do. They really know how to make a women feel special and carry their weight around such as helping the lady with chores lovingly, just the way they are also on top of the corporate ladder.

The Alpha males. They strive to be the best and they uplift you and empower you instead of insulting and accussing you of feminism. I was watching a youtube video of britpopprinces with her white husband and the way this guy is damn no blk man would do the same as he does.

Even white men do not have any mishaps abt blk women wearing weaves or being darker or lighter. They see you for yourself. I guess in the past i was shy to admit it. Scared what would ppl say or think. Scared of the stares etc. So i have missed out on some good white guys in the past because of this plus i thought that all just want blk women for one thing. But things are changing, ppl are different.

Dnt judge a person based on hearsay and stereotypes. So women this is now 21st century. Do what you need to do. Date who you want whether white, asian, black, nigerian or non-nigerian. You have only one life to live and be with someone who will make you happy and fit your personality. I love white men and i cannot lie.
So? angry
