Hi, everybody. This Sunday is Father’s Day, and so I wanted to take a moment to talk about the most important job many of us will ever have – and that’s being a dad. Today we’re blessed to live in a world where technology allows us to connect instantly with just about anyone on the planet. But no matter how advanced we get, there will never be a substitute for the love and support and, most importantly, the presence of a parent in a child’s life. And in many ways, that’s uniquely true for fathers. I never really knew my own father. I was raised by a single mom and two wonderful grandparents who made incredible sacrifices for me. And there are single parents all across the country who do a heroic job raising terrific kids. But I still wish I had a dad who was not only around, but involved; another role model to teach me what my mom did her best to instill – values like hard work and integrity; responsibility and delayed gratification – all the things that give a child the foundation to envision a brighter future for themselves. That’s why I try every day to be for Michelle and my girls what my father was not for my mother and me. And I’ve met plenty of other people – dads and uncles and men without a family connection – who are trying to break the cycle and give more of our young people a strong male role model. Being a good parent – whether you’re gay or straight; a foster parent or a grandparent – isn’t easy. It demands your constant attention, frequent sacrifice, and a healthy dose of patience. And nobody’s perfect. To this day, I’m still figuring out how to be a better husband to my wife and father to my kids. And I want to do what I can as President to encourage marriage and strong families. We should reform our child support laws to get more men working and engaged with their children. And my Administration will continue to work with the faith and other community organizations, as well as businesses, on a campaign to encourage strong parenting and fatherhood. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned along the way, it’s that all our personal successes shine a little less brightly if we fail at family. That’s what matters most. When I look back on my life, I won’t be thinking about any particular legislation I passed or policy I promoted. I’ll be thinking about Michelle, and the journey we’ve been on together. I’ll be thinking about Sasha’s dance recitals and Malia’s tennis matches – about the conversations we’ve had and the quiet moments we’ve shared. I’ll be thinking about whether I did right by them, and whether they knew, every day, just how much they were loved. That’s what I think being a father is all about. And if we can do our best to be a source of comfort and encouragement to our kids; if we can show them unconditional love and help them grow into the people they were meant to be; then we will have succeeded. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, and have a great weekend. US President Barack Obama |

9jamum: 3. Find a work schedule that suits your life style and family. While your post is encouraging those who may choose the life style of not needing a man as husband but sperm donor(s), i want to believe no 3 is a tough choice especially in an environment such as Naija.Thank you ![]() However, nuff respect to the widows. |
zetdee:Zetdee, sawbona. In as much as I want to believe you are not trying to support the inhuman action of those cops, the videos you presented here is one based on religious crisis in the north and not attack of foreigners. No one would like to see his/her country rubbished by angry e-mobs,but let's collectively stand by the truth. I as a person have suggested how to flush out foreign criminals in SA,especially those from my own country however, you should also not justify the atrocities perpetrated by host communities. It generates nothing more than fervent hatred towards your countrymen. Imagine over 50 million visitors reading our posts?. Thank you |
ujchief: This was from the thread you created last timeOl boy...thank you o...see as you come expose the babe, when in my heart I was almost like 'why are some men like this' gbaun. So your. Vibrator gives you more pleasure than your oga? I said it.When the man may have realise his 'sexual effort' is not having its effect, and the woman outside is giving him. Sicch, why won't his heart be with her?.see the side effect of intimacy gadgets. .mthcewwwwww. |
This is one of my fears about infidelity.Once a committed man strays and feesl 'loved' by the strange woman, its often hard to let go.its more of a psychological and ego thing. The woman at home were either oblivious of some emotional needs or she doing it purpose. And there is the strange woman outside equally seeking companionship and perhaps financial support, but WILLING to give the married guy his desires. Just as every woman wants to be treated as queens even when they come up with their behavioral nonsense most times, likewise every hard working man wants to be treated like a King.I support the idea of couples spending time together alone. It doesn't matter if they have kids or not.Church,Politics,Extended Family,Business, shouldn't have overwhelming effect on your relationship. At the end of the day,its still gonna be you and your spouse or partner....wish you luck.. |
henrychubayo: HE SHOULD REPORT THE MATTER TO THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND THRU THE AMBASSADOR, HIS CASE WILL BE TAKEN UP. IN AS MUCH AS GOVT IS BAD, BUT I NO THEY USED TO HAVE SYMPATHY IN THIS KIND OF CASE THAT THEY DO ANYTHING POSSIBLE TO GET IT DONE. THE CASE ABOUT THE KILLED NIGERIA BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE WAS FILED BY SOME GOOD NIGERIANS WITH THE HELP OF THE NIGERIA HIGH COMMISSION IN PRETORIA. HOWEVER, I HAVE ONE ADVICE FOR YOU, SELL THOSE PROPERTIES AND BRING YOUR MONEY HOME AND INVEST IN YOUR HOME TOWN.Good point henry.I was with the attachee to the Nigerian High Commission. He shared with me what I'm going to share here with all countrymen abroad. 1. Regularize your stay in any country you are.Be legal and never handle with levity your permits to stay, work or wot wot. This regularization excludes asylum. 2.If you have certificates, put in for work engagement. No matter how hard or long it takes, one day, favor will smile on you. 3.If you legit and your papers are in tact,if anyone law agents harrasses you, please, contact Nigerian High Commission at Illovo,JHB.With. Proofs and any evidences whatsoever, they will take upp your case. 4.Find any reputable Nigerian Union and join.Stop isolating yourselves. If not for the Nigerian union who forwarded the case across to our High Commission,no one there would know what happened. 5.For legit Nigerians in SA,if you need to setup any biz, please take time and pain to register the biz with SARS and NEVER EVER setup your biz in township popularly called LOCATION. Whatever good proceeds is made from your biz, always bare in mind the day xenophobia would start, you won't be spared.First your asset would be looted and you would be moered,if your house is not razed to ashes.Even the municipal would inform you the landed properties is for South African citizens OR PR holders. 6.Please strive to engage in clean and legit businesses.Your local host patrons are the very ones that would turn against you the day your cup would be full. 7.No matter how long you will or stay in diaspora, invest back at home.Always have something to fall back on. 8.No matter how wonderful or beautiful your foreign wife is,please stop praising them above our Nigerian sisters. All your accolades for your foreign wife over your Nigerian sisters would one day bounce back against you,you sisters, mother, aunties, etc. God bless Nigeria and the rest. |

coogar: suspended sentence for 12 months and court fines for assaulting her hubby. if it was the other way round, the husband would get 4 years imprisonment for marital abuse.Spot on cougar.while the reading the story and I discovered it was in UK,I shook my head.Had it been it was the. Other way round and the guy blaming it side effect of sipping alcohol,in fact his jail sentence would be more than 4 years. Unfair and preferential judicial system is absolute wash. |

assalaamat: Enough Is Enough;a Case Study Of My LifeMy brother, have you tried teaching at a private schools? since you have passion for teaching, it wont be a bad idea to look at even the elementary schools to start with. The pay may not be enough like your allowee but you sure wont be jobless. Also, while reading your story, something struck me which i feel wont be bad to share with you...what other skills have you accomplished besides the conventional education?.If you look towards learning fashion design, you will be surprised what it could fetch you when you finally become a master in the trade. Our beloved country labor market now is not relying solely on conventional school certificates but as well skills. Never looked down on those with skills....they sure are not beggars. Besides, hmm with skills and if you have a chance to seek green pastures abroad, you will be amazed.my N1 contribution. |
Baba Iyabo should face his farm and live Nigerian polity as it is. His contribution so far have taken this country to the doldrums. What else does he want? He's made money while in power and in politics beyond what Iyabo and her great grand children could make.Several lands,Choice properties in virtually every juicy and high brow areas all over the country and outside, several farms, private library, off shore oil refinery, oil blocks, etc, what else....??
