Fairly common firmware glitch. Did you recently update/install a custom ROM? If you're lucky it might work with the Piston 3, otherwise try different headphone jacks. Headphones not earphones. Mono and stereo. If it doesn't work, flashing the latest fastboot ROM should clear up the issue.
