omotititi: @jites,thank you for your selflessness.May God bless you and your farm abundantly.pls cn u pls snd me a copy of dat report.cos I wnt to set up my poultry nxt. Year jan.aomoti@yahoo.comPlease like i said in one of my earlier post, lets not make this thread about send me the report, send me the report send me the report, this thread needs to have good solid contributions, even it you tried the business and fail still let us know so we can all learn from it @Omotiti @Jovita85 @Latestsunny Sorry i have not been able to reply since i have been busy working, i hope to have some break by either saturday or Sunday and i should be able to send the report then. Omotiti i have read through some of your post and i know that you seem very interested in the agricultural sector, weldone to you and i know you are currently working somewhere else at the moment but when you do start your poultry business try and commit some good quality time to it with little delegation ok. I used yo live in Benin city myself, Ekewan road to be precise close to Uniben. Good luck all and have a merry Xmas and a happy new year. God bless nigeria |
Password77: Welcome back basking4 me and thumbs up to all who have kept this blog going.@ password77, you have mail -i have sent you all the report you need to start up. |
Password77: Welcome back basking4 me and thumbs up to all who have kept this blog going.@ Password77, welcome to this thread and i can assure you are on the right path, if you are commited by the end of NYSC when other graduates are looking for jobs you will be looking for people to employ, depending ofcourse on thre size of your farm. I do have some reports i bought for quite a lot of money i must say but in a business like this you should be willing to acquire enough practical and theoritical knowledge before start up. As you are an NYSC corper contributing to the economy by serving the nation i will forward you the reports Free of charge. but always keep the housre updated with your progress okay. @ bASKING4ME Thanks a lot for replying to me questions, the initial outlay for the cages is really high 500k i think i iwll have to start gradually, no haste and i am looking forward to your proposal for the HOUSE. This is for the house, if anyone has been able to set up their own Feedmill and the feeds are of high quality and has been tested i think it would be good for others to patronise you by buying feeds from you thats if your price is relatively cheaper and there is assurance for continuity because once you start with a certain feed you have to continue with it. Thanks everyone and keep contributing to the thread. compliment of the season to everyone and GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
basking4me: Obnelly, thank you for your response but understand my angle to selling them. They were doing 90% at a time, cost of feed was 2300 then.@Basking4me i have got a few question to ask you and the house 1. Just so i get this right when we say 90% production does that mean if you have say for example 1000 birds; approximately 900 of them are laying eggs daily? 2. You stated that 500K should do for the pen if they are being housed in cages and double the amount if they are on litters. Does this mean it cheaper to build a pen that will consist of cages for the 1000 birds than having them on litters 3. From your own experience, would you say you get more productivity from the birds if they are housed in cages compare to being housed on litters 4. Again from your experience, what you say is the estimate variable cost for catering for 1000 birds until they start egg production. 5. Lastly, would you happened to know the cost of acquiring cages for 1000 birds capacity or do you know any reliable supplier that one can contact. Once again thanks for your input on this thread and i think its back again to the way it used to be ie talking about the substance and essence of the business. |
basking4me: Hello Everyon its been a while, i have been awashed with other things reason I havent been around for a while. @Jites, really sorry I havent been as active as before. Now to your questions.@ Basking4me Wow, what a relief to see you again contributing positively to this very educative thread. You have answered all of my questions very straight to the point, Thanks a lot At least now you have emassed some very invaluable experience from the first lots of birds and you are right with the feeding stuff, i honestly think if you are stocking anything from 1000 birds it will benefit you to mill your own feed. This is something i would have to look into too and i will be following you closely if you dont mind with regards to the feeding mill stuff. I just acquired a land am looking to start mine from June next year by the grace of God. Once again thanks for replying and do let us know how the point of lay went. Compliment of the season and GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
Fhemmmy: Next Pix will be Nigerian Pix . . .The eagle has landed oo or should i say the eagle was caught in the air as it was about to land. This is official Oga Fhemmmy is the main man, the correct man. The Car was cleared yesterday and i have received delivery of the baby. Currently on its way to Delta state so unfortunately Oga Fhemmmy would not be able to post Nigeria picture of the car as promised, the reason for this is that my representative was too eager to take the car away, lol, over excitement dey worry the guy, he no want let the food cold before he eat am. Anyway, for the benefit of everyone that has been following the progress of the beauty, i will ask my rep to try and take some pictures so i can post it here myself because for some people seeing is believing, but for me believing was seeing. I believed Oga Fhemmmy and he delivered. so for those of you still thinking about taking the plunge into pre ordering and still being sceptical Oga fhemmmy has proved to me time and time again that there are still Nigerians out there you can trust and count on. From following Oga Fhemmmy Thread i can safely say the man has completed deals running into millions of Naira, the goodwill is there and the evidence is glaring; no be now he go come chop or run away with someone 1 or 3 millions. Anyway, once again Oga Fhemmmy its been a pleasure doing business with you and watch this space many more businesses will follow, make i complete my small project finish for niger first i go return for many more businesses by the grace of God. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
its happening as we speak, soon to be united with her |

PapaBrowne: A display of absolute ignorance. You couldn't have said it better. I am A WINNER any very proud to be ONE, I have never seen a WINNER complain any day about anything the only people who complains are not winners like the OP. and if you think WINNERS have been brain washed please do me a favour go into the church and see the calibre of people that worship there, these are leaders in their own right. Now a lot of people woke up this morning, unbelievers, arm robbers, thieves etc but as far as i know GOD is the one who through his mercies made me to wake up this morning, now you can call that brain washing or whatever you want to call it. I know for sure that my family was once evicted from a flat because we could not afford the rent and all our properties seized but to cut a long story short. i have completed BA degree in London, bought a house in London, own more than 3 cars, bought a new car recently not tokunbor, own a sucessful businesses in Nigeria, currently building a 3 bedroom bungalow and a BQ that i intend give to someone else to live in rent free all these done with legitimate income through the wisdom of GOD and by listening to the messages of BISHOP DAVID OYEDEPO. Now dont get me wrong, you can also acquire 100 x more than this without being a christian or a WINNER but as for me i know that GOD blessed me with all these and he is still blessing me or oh yeah lest i forget i still give offerings in church. now if this is what being brainwash brings then i dont mind being brain washed all my life. to end this please and please please let BISHOP OYEDEPO BE and mind your own business. I have been following Bishop Oyedepo messages since i was a little boy in my village, i once borrowed money just to attend shillo, then you would have called me a fool but now i have results, undeniable results to show for it. i am now 35, i was taught to live a holy life in winners chapel, to live righteously, to not be dubious or fraudulent, to love GOD with all my heart and to do good to the best of my ability. to be honest i learnt morals from church, so it wasnt all prosperity preaching. a word is enough for the wise, please again mind your business and it will help you. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
obnelly: Jites a proper waste management can prevent the odour but how you dispose the litter is another constraint.if its not properly dispose it will have effect on the soil, water and air around the location you are dropping your litters.if you can manage to incorporate a bioreactor into your farm.the machine will not reduce the odour but will also give you clean energy to reduce your carbon emission on your farm I mean the green house gas.the reactor will convery the farm waste into usefil products such as biofuel , organic fertilizer NPK and bedding for your livestock.at the end you have cleam and odour free environment.remember you can use the fuel to power your genetator to produce electricity, the heat for cooking as gad and broodinh young chicks.you need a professional to do feasobilitu studies based on what you have on your farm or I send you a questionair by doing that I can assess what you have and give you the advise.hope it helps.shalom@ obnelly, thanks a lot for this information i will certainly be looking into this, especially converting the waste for other uses instead of just disposing them off. |
steel5800: @jites. In those days, ecwa used to be the best breed but I don't hear pple talking about them anymore. Amo and chi are quite good now. About d cages, a friend of mine who's also a vet doctor said he can supply and install for me new ones at 40k per 90 birds. He also said there's a way u can stock d birds such that 10 of those cages will accomodate 1000 birds and he installs them in a way that as soon the water drops to a certain level, d water inlet automatically opens to refill d drinker and closes when it gets to a certain level. This way u don't have to keep going thr to refill their drinkers. I stay in kano.@steel5800, Thanks Kano is a bit far from Delta State, but thats why i love technology, although you are far away we are able to share ideas. I used to live in Kano, infact i went to primary school in Kano and my extended family have houses there ans still live there. I lived in warri road, sabon gari and also balutus and new road. but my uncle has a house in no mans land. good memories i had therem went to mai kwatashi primary school. |
obnelly: What a thread that is so educative.well, I am a farmer too.I am very happy to be among you here.setting up a poultry farm for layers is fun but first you must have passion for the job , next is capital.without a good capital you will regret ever being a poultry farmer.so my advise is start small and grow big.i can see some people mentioning figures here, if you start big in poultry business you will lose big cash.its not about the money you have but how far can you take care of the birds. No doubt there is money in the busoness but remember no pain no gain,to get good money you must invest good money.most of the pictures here are good and esucative but poultry is far far beyond pictures you need to do it yourself.to start with you need good water , good housing and electricity, feed and vaccine, enougj vitamins will make your chicken feel good.orientation of your pen matters and diaposing your farm manure or recycling your poultry farm waste or manure to useful products such as fuel for cooking, space heating during brooding and power generation on site (electricity).should be of paramount to farmers.if you take good steps in poultry you will always smile to the bank.passion is the key word.I can dip my hands inside chicken litter it means nothing to me but for a beginners I doubt if he can.star small and grow big.@obnelly, i am interested in knowing how to prevent odour because people have started to buy land close to where i intend to start my poutry and i want to try and minise the odour that would come from my poultry. i bought the land in the outskirt of town but as with other places people have started buying land there and i think they will be building residential accommodation soon. the good thing is i got there first and i am still the only there at the moment, but i would not want to cause trouble or inconvinience my neighbours at a later date, so strategy to try and minimise odour would be welcome. i know you said to contact your number but like you said you have been follwoing this thread you would see that information is usually shared here in the thread so that others can benefit from it. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
steel5800: Thanks for ur reply jites. I guess I'm just a little bit too anxious/worried because this isn't my first time of raising layers (though i stopped for some years) but its definitely the slowest I've experienced. My birds are also free roaming but will try and get cages for the next cycle too. Congrats on ur birds. Which company did u buy from? Mine's karmadex@ Steel5800, i am based in Sapele Delta state thats where i bought mine from. But does any know of the best breed to buy to maximise profit, someone suggetsed brown ones. I would really like to stock my next cycle with the best day old. In terms of the battery cage they can be very expensive, someone quoted me 25k for used ones and 50k for new ones and it s 90 birds by unit cage, so if you want to stock 1000 layers you would be looking at roughly half a million to stock new cages which to be honest is preferable so your bird dont contract disease from the previous occupant. |
Read one of your post in one of Spyder's thread and I can't wait to see your project kicking off! It seems most of us building our own houses lately had one time been ejected from someone's house! If not us directly, maybe our parents or sibling. God will see you through pal!
@Prince_onx Thanks mate by God's grace |
seun70: I have actually been able to fence just two plots now. This is to enable me have enough fund for other things, and I spent roughly 950k to complete fencing the two plots.@ Seun70, I wish you all the best in your business, however like BASKING and HINDSIGHT did at the beginning it will be nice to see pictures of what you are doing so we can all learn a thing or 2 cos we are all at different stages of progress. for instance pictures of the fence, of the construction of the poultry house etc a picture speaks volumn GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
steel5800: Hi all. Been following this thread since inception n I want to say kudos to all of you.@ Steel5800, you have to be patient, thats how it start they will soon start increasing, dont change anything as such. i have 250 bird and it started with just one egg but now i have an average of 5 to 6 crates of eggs daily and it pays for their feeding now with a bit extra, mind you they are still not producing at their peak yet and they started laying about 8 weeks ago. what i have heard is that production also depends on the if they are in battery cage or just free roaming, mine are free roaming. i intend to start my next cycle with battery cage so i can get maximum production from them. so as long as they are being fed well and having the right medication just be psatient and production will pick up soon |
fnk: @jites, I don't think the road to success is clear cut. no matter how much info you get here, you will still need a leap of faith to get started. Even me with my research and all that, I am still expect some unforeseen events happening that scare me off my pants if I am not ready to handle it. I think why Nigeria is still a land of opportunity is simply because of unpredictability of the place, anything can happen any time. So that said, as some point, you will need to grab the bull by the horn and just ride it, and if you come out alive; what a trill the ride will be. |
@ jites: thanks for the update and am glad we could help. Also good to know you already started moulding blocks for your project and I will strongly advise you to start as soon as you have enough blocks on ground because materials will always go up in prices. Once you start off with the foundation and block setting you'll have more zeal to finish the house.
Thanks a lot, all thanks to Prince_onx and Spyder |
basking4me: We have about 1000 number of old layers for sale at reasonable price. If you are a bulk buyer kindly reach me via phone. 07042507891.@Basking4me what is happening to this thread, it was very interesting from the begining when we were seeing pictures of day old chicks, building of the chicken house etc etc, now its all about fkn can you please send me the document, to be honest i also requested the document out of curiosity to see what it was all about but like fkn said himself its nothing but a mixture he came out with that he thinks is good for people in the poultry business. Basking is currently asking for buyers for 1000 layers, my questions to Basking are 1 have these 1000 layers completed their cycle 2 has it been profitable, because i have a report that i bought that says with 1000 layers over the cycle period you can make about 2million naira. what do you say to this claim 3 what are the challenges you have encounter 4 why are you about to start again but this time with point of lay, does that mean having day old is too much wahala or what? is marketing of the old layer a challenge because clearly it seems to be if you are asking for buyers for 1000 layers Please Basking, make this thread interesting again cos i am about to start with 1000 layers next year and i need to know from people who have practical experience like yourself if its worth instead of relying on some report giving me some imaginary profit forcast. Thanks |
When a contractor use words like preliminary, sub-structure, super-structure, etc while trying to build a 2 bedrooms and a living-room BQ especially for a client that is building for the first time and know nothing about building, I wonder the language/English he will use/speak if he's quoting or building a duplex? Like you rightly said, that's why Spyder stands out and honest! A lot of people have acquired so much knowledge, ideas, and experience about building just by going through his threads. Even women that will originally say they know nothing about building coment and contribute here too! Why? Because Spyder will tell you what the next plan is, carry out the project, and show you a picture of what it is. He tell you they're starting a foundation tomorrow and after the foundation he show a picture of what it is making is easy for a layman or first time builder to know what he's talking about! Same thing when he start block setting, German floor, walling, lintel, decking, etc! Now compare that to preliminary stage @ N250k? If you agree and pay, who will you blame if they tell you the next day that preliminary stage is just cutting of grass? @jites: where you disappear go sef? Abi you contractor don make you believe say you never ready? Lets hear from you.
@ Prince_onx Oga prince i dey o i never disappear, after reading your advice i stopped to reaccess and evaluate, i immediately torn up the initial plan and got a new one drawn for a 3 BEDROOM BUNGALOW and a BOYS QUARTER. i never start sha because of the rain but what i intend doing now is start moulding blocks that will be sufficienty for taking both projects to the lintel level. after following Spyder and listening to you guys it will be suicidal to have gone with that guy that was speaking a different language to me. me now i don learn a new language and method and the language is called SPYDER LANGUAGE. Even as far as the block moulder i dey use spyder language to negotiate, i don drive one away when dey speak PRELIMINARY LANGUAGE for me, now i have found one whose price is comparable to what spyder is paying his. so na so i plan to do am stage by stage, i know how much spyder spent on the BQ foundation so i go use that one to guage my own too. although like i was asking spyder the other day, it look like say spyder BQ don turn to 2 self contain rooms. but i intend to do mine as a living room, a bedroom, toilet and kitchen. and to be honest he dey look like one bedroom flat to me. what is actually the difference sef between a one bedroom flat and a BQ. Anyway, my brother na so i c am o, thanks to you and spyder and all the other contributors, i intend to start the actual buildings by January 2013 by the grace of GOD. i need a little advice is it better to use these hollow block that spyder is using so or the solid ones for a swampy land? or what situations as in land type or building type is a solid book good for? |
Oga Fhemmmy, very soon we go begin seen naija pic of the ride o abi? its well |
. |
Fhemmmy: Coming home to Mama . . .Yeah baby, soon this baby will be in the land of promise. i hail Oga Fhemmo |
The funniest thing with allthese stories and opinion ( expressed harshly) is that even in Jesus' day he was accused of worst, called an anti christ. Can you believe it ?? CHRIST himself being called anti christ, if you were a follower of Jesus how would you feel. I am very open minded and would never let anyone brain wash me, fortunately i happen to be in London in winner-chapel when the journalist was in church, now i heard every thing the pastor said word for word, and to be honest the journalist misinterpreted, misquoted every single word that was said that day. When i read it i was disgusted, now if you are going to report about things then report it truthfully, but again, i think the problem was mainly the journalist is not a christain and would have interpreted a lot of what was said literally. For instance, in that service that day the pastor- David Oyedepo Junior said paraphrased " we need to envangelise, win souls for christ, and dont say you are too busy because in your place of work there is someone hurting, there is someone contemplating suicide, speak to them let them know there is hope in Jesus etc And what happens the journalist wrote to say the pastor told the members to go and exploit the vulnerable, the weak, people who want to commit suicide. for goodness sake that was not what was said at all. its like the pastor saying " for God so love the world that he gave his only begooten son that whosoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life" and some layman journalist hears this and report that the pastor said if you believe you will not die at all.Such reporting deviate from the truth and we are not able to have a balanced debate, now granted there are pastors who are fraudulent and are exploiting the sincere desire of the members to be obedient to God and obey whatever comes from the alter as a word from God. I once attended a church in sapele delta state and i wont mention the name of the pastor of the church, but i wanted to put to test the claim of the pastor that day, he asked for an offering for some building project, but before asking he gave testimony of instances where people had emptied their pocket to give offering and they were blessed, call it naivity, brainwashing whatever, but that day i was going to prove him wrong. I had traveled from a far place to attend the service, so i emptied my pocket, gave my last money and my transport money too, anyway after the service i went to the place where i needed to board transportation back home, i sat down like everyone else and when the vehicle was full they satrted collecting money, and just as it got to my turn someone who was not travelling said dont take money from that boy wearing red shirt- yes i was wearing red shirt and i was about 18years then and they asked him again, who are you talking about, he came close and pointed to me... to cut a long story short i got home and did not pay a dime. At the service i gave the money to GOD from my heart of heart, if they pastor used the money to buy a jet has nothing to do with me and honestly i dont care but God who i gave the money to from my heart blessed me and from that day all this debate of pastor eating money dont really bug me, i still give and talking about blessing.. i am 35 now i have bought a house in London, i have buildings in Nigeria, i have a 2 business making daily money and if you ask me do pastor eat church money now... probably yes infact definately yes some of them but i will never in my lifetime open my mouth to slaughter any pastor. I serve GOD. GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
