I remember watching on NTA that some of the needed turbines were in our ports and they had acquired so much demurrage, apart from that i remember some indian and nigeria contrators were interviewed saying they placed order for some of the needed equipment this was on NDPHC network the instruction was that they should speed up work on their power plant, yes you can say Obansajo initiated the project but the execution and privatization of power project in a country like nigeria would be one hell of a difficult task,I would go with what someone said here the execution would be the most complex task,so we must face the truth GEJ is working. |

on october 04, 2013 at 9:10 am in news NIAMEY (AFP) – “Armed bandits” have killed a Niger soldier and seriously wounded three others in Nigeria’s volatile north-east, a high-ranking Niger security official told AFP Thursday, in new violence to hit an area considered as the homebase of Islamist sect Boko Haram. “A soldier from Niger was killed yesterday (Wednesday) around 7:00 pm (1800 GMT) and three others were wounded in an attack by eight armed bandits on Nigerian territory,” the official said on condition of anonymity. The soldiers were part of a west African force based in Baga, a town located in Nigeria’s restive northeastern state of Borno. The three wounded soldiers were taken to a hospital in eastern Niger’s Diffa, near the border with Nigeria. Diffa-based private radio station Anfani claimed the soldiers were “ambushed by Boko Haram 10 kilometres (six miles) from the border with Niger”. Boko Haram has said it is fighting to create an Islamic state in Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north, but the group is believed to be made up of different factions with varying aims. The group has attacked churches, mosques, newspaper offices, the security forces, politicians and a UN building, among other targets. According to an estimate earlier this year, Boko Haram’s insurgency has claimed more than 3,600 lives, including deaths caused by the security forces. The current toll is likely much higher. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/10/armed-bandits-kill-niger-soldier-wound-3-others-borno/ |
on october 02, 2013 at 3:01 pm in news PARIS (AFP) – The world’s population will rise to 9.7 billion in 2050 from the current level of 7.1 billion and India will overtake China as the world’s most populous nation, as Nigeria’s population will outstrip that of the United State a French study said Wednesday. A bi-annual report by the French Institute of Demographic Studies (Ined) projected there would be 10 to 11 billion people on the planet by the end of the century. The projections ran parallel to forecasts by the United Nations, the World Bank and other prominent national institutes. A UN study in June said the global population would swell to 9.6 billion in 2050 and the number of people aged 60 and above would catapult from 841 million now to two billion in 2050 and nearly three billion in 2100. Ined said Africa would be home to a quarter of the world’s population in 2050 with 2.5 billion people, more than double the current level of 1.1 billion. Gilles Pison, the author of the report, said the prevailing fertility rate in Africa was around 4.8 children per woman — far higher than the global average of 2.5. The Americas will breach the one-billion mark in 2050 with 1.2 billion inhabitants against 958 million at present. And Asia’s population will increase from 4.3 billion to 5.2 billion in 2050, Ined forecast. The world’s most populous nations are currently China with 1.3 billion people; followed by India (1.2 billion); the United States (316.2 million); Indonesia (248.5 million) and Brazil (195.5 million). But in 2050, India will take pole position with 1.6 billion people with China in second place at 1.3 billion. DAMATURU, Nigeria (Reuters) - Fighter jets have bombed camps belonging to suspected Islamist militants in northeast Nigeria in response to a massacre of students at an agricultural college, an army spokesman said on Thursday.http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUKBRE9920I620131003?irpc=932 |
By Joe Hemba DAMATURU, Nigeria (Reuters) - Fighter jets have bombed camps belonging to suspected Islamist militants in northeast Nigeria in response to a massacre of students at an agricultural college, an army spokesman said on Thursday. The Islamist sect Boko Haram is suspected of carrying out the night-time raid on a college in Yobe state on Sunday, in which students were dragged out of their beds and shot. Forty-one were killed. Boko Haram, which has not claimed responsibility for the attack, is fighting to impose an Islamic state in religiously-mixed Nigeria. It has become the biggest security threat to a country that is Africa's second largest economy and top oil exporter. "We used jet fighters to drop bombs on terrorist camps, where many of the insurgents were killed," said Captain Eli Lazarus, military spokesman in Yobe state. He said the strikes were carried out on Monday near Majari village on the border between Yobe and Borno, the two states worst hit by Boko Haram's four-year-old insurgency. Soldiers have arrested 15 people suspected of involvement in the college attack and patrols along main roads in Borno and Yobe have been reinforced, Lazarus said. Nigeria's army has in the past exaggerated its capabilities and successes and played down casualties among soldiers and civilians, security and diplomatic sources say. Authorities have ordered greater security around schools since Sunday's attacks to help restore confidence in the Western-style education system that Boko Haram wants banished, government sources told Reuters this week. Thousands have been killed since Boko Haram launched its uprising in 2009. As it has grown bolder and more deadly, it has also forged links with Islamists in the Sahara, including al Qaeda's north African branch. Western governments are increasingly worried about the threat posed by Islamist groups across Africa, from Mali and Algeria in the Sahara to Kenya in the east, where fighters from the Somali al- Shabaab group killed at least 67 people in an attack on a Nairobi shopping mall last month. President GEJ got it wrong this time,he can't just increase tarrif like that or phase out tokunbor cars without taking adequate steps to mitigate its effects on the masses he might loose support because some of his policies are not popular,95 percent of nigeria are poor who's advising the president, this is unrealistic . |
My personal opinion is that the woman should love her man more for the fact that men can be fragile when it comes to trials in their relationships, its easier for a woman to get over issues than men, infact men should be called the weaker sex,why do i say this ?When it comes to moving on after a break up its easier for women to get on with their lives than their male counterpart ,men are highly emotional and can be scared for life just because of a single relationship some even die from the hurt or scar of a single relationship so for me its safer if the woman loves more than the man.I would definitely go for someone who loves me the most. |
I can't but agree with your write up ,been asking for a real realtionship according to my spec when i found it i started looking for faults and excuses not to get involved she too religious she's too fat etc this your article applys to me but i still want to search that can't be the best life has to offer me. |
The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Nasir Fagge, has accused the federal government of not telling Nigerians the truth about the demand of the union as regards the government’s statement that the union's demand has been met.See this man adding state university that their school fees is as high as that of their private counterpart ,see broad day light cheating on nigeria students in state owned university, if private uni's can function well without problem talk more of established state owned uni, which is already established and demanding same school fee and still have the effontry to follow fed ASUU lecturers to go on strike nigeria students must be a joke sha this pppl are with your money and they refuse to teach u,9ja students your destiny is in your hand i urge you to protest against ASUU oppression, because if you had known this stupid strike would affect u most of you would have opted for private owned institution what's the diffrence. |
BLIND MAN even with the dates in the article of how power generation degenerated u can still say the rubbish then am worried for 9ja
I've said it before that if you look at Nigeria from 1960, we have actually seen much more development and overall better standard of living under MILLITARY rule compared to civillian regimes. Practically all our major infrastructure today were built by the Millitary, the civillians came in, mismanaged (still mismanaging) the ones they met, built very few, then sold (still selling) to their cronies. thats in addition to the "everybody come and eat" we have under civillian regimes. Under the millitary, na only CinC, some MilAds & few other people dey chop money. From the refineries, power generation, national monuments, even interstate roads, the guys from the barracks have far surpassed their civillian counterparts. While there were building, "democratic" civillians are busy passing budget after budget for maintenance, yet nothing show. Someone will now say it is the "system which cannot change overnight" that is responsible for the collapse of Nigerian Airways, Nitel, NEPA (PHCN), even National Stadium Surulere & National Arts Theatre iganmu e.t.c. as if it was not Nigerians who established these things and had them up and running for quite some time. 2015, make una wise up abeg. Nigeria doesnt deserve leaders who give excuses for their incompetence or lack of performance, leaders who even feel that our major problem is exagerrated (how the heck will he pay serious attention to it when "perception is different from reality"?!!!)
BLIND MAN even with the dates in the article of how power generation degenerated u can still say the rubbish then am worried for 9ja |
What's the diffrence in fees between state owned university and privately owned one?if you ask me there no much diffrence ,they re almost the same and the private univesity run their affairs based on their school fees and mind you this private universities don't have structures when i mean structures academic structure compared to the states uni, and this privare uni have to work out everthing themselves ,so my take is ,if the state universities wants a share from the ASUU benefits or subsidy as i call it then i believe their school fees should be the same with that of FG uni's if they want their big school fees then they should be independent just like private university. |
Why should lecturers in state owned universities go on strike?
What's wrong with nigerians why are they not asking questions coal_coal i appreciate this question you just asked because this state owned university set their school fees and its quite expensive so why should they act and get same benefits with federal university ASUU lecturers ?this strike is more of political than fighting for better educational system,i wud urge the students in state owned university to fight for their right protest because you pay higher school fees tell your lecturers to go back to their class room. |
Am not going to cast aspersion on anyone, its possible this woman was in nigeria,we see a lot in abuja with their veil,I remember the attitude of one of them that met me at AP filling station maitama opposite transcorp hilton and she just over took me with her black c class she acted with impunity as if to say am above you and above the law, trust this silly 9ja petrol station attendant they were busy looking at her car brand new car i tried to tell her she was wrong and can't believe a woman would act this way there was this strange look on her face like this man you want trouble,so i just ignored her cos i was not in the mood to start a fight with a white woman ,don't know who she belongs to so that's the problem in 9ja even if the police see's her they would not have the courage to accoust her for the same reasons mentioned in the article she would always slip away. |
Magazine to pay Governor Adams Oshiomhole N25m over published false story of impregnanting a student By Kaymi on September 26, 2013 A Benin High Court has awarded Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, N25million as damages in a libel suit he instituted against the publishers of News of the People, a soft sell weekly magazine. Governor Oshiomhole had dragged the soft sell weekly magazine to court demanding N250million as damages over their report with the headline: ‘Oshiomhole’s sex power exposed: Impregnates young girl six months after death of wife.” The magazine had reported that Governor Oshiomhole impregnated a student of the state-owned, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, bought the said girl a jeep and interfered in the academic activities of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, on behalf of the girl, adding that Governor Oshiomole used sexual performance enhancement drugs and that he had performed traditional marriage rites precedent to marriage between him and the said girl. The governor told the court that he demanded damages because the said publication caused him and his children psychological trauma, six months after the death of his wife, as the libelous piece was widely circulated, to coincide with preparations for one of his daughter’s wedding. He said: “When I called a brother governor to sponsor my daughter’s wedding, the governor said he was confused, and asked me if I was the one doing the marriage or my daughter. He added that he was reading a magazine which said that I was about getting married to a university student, and that the said wife-to-be was already pregnant.” In his judgment, the trial Judge, Justice Efe Ikponmwen, also ordered the magazine to publish a well-worded retraction and apology in a similarly conspicous manner in an edition of the magazine. He held that the governor’s evidence proved that the magazine’s publication was libelous, and that even though the public has a right to know about a public officer, such information should be in line with the law and must not be in bad light http://dailystar.com.ng/2013/09/26/magazine-pay-governor-adams-oshiomhole-n25m-published-false-story-impregnanting-student/ |

What are they doing about the pension thieves all those pensioners should take their destiny in their hand and go to the home states of those pension thieves and demand for their head,I still don't get it why should the FG pay colonial officers who worked for the british government, they ought to get their pension from their government because they made a lot of profit for their govt by exploiting us,I smell politics in this idea of paying past colonial officer ,this means we are still colonized. |
Goodluck jonathan is confused, our future leaders are confused, politics is marauding our country, our youth are wasting due to unemployment yet our leaders only debate on which party to rule instead of supporting the ruler in power. It only shows their selfishness n political ignorance!!! 9jerias only hope is the $OUNDING TRUMPENT....
SIR KOL am honoured by your quote and this is what have been saying for a long time to nigerians and they don't seem to get it,even with all obama rethorics towards the republican you still see the republicans working with him for the greater good of their nation but in nigeria the opposition would rather polarize the nation which is already polarized this is a nation thats almost torn apart by religion and tribalism apart from the sounding trumphet nigerias still hold the aces by not been dragged into their selfishness and vote GEJ again so this stupid politicians can learn something, and that is putting the country first, but religion and tribalism would not allow this happen. |
Who would suffer the consequences of this strike my guess is its the students the youths,my personal opinion is this, the rot and decay in our university system has developed over time through successive regime, just as the ASUU chairman stated, what i gather from his statement is that ,this problem has been lingering for a long time which most nigerians are aware of so having this in mind one would expect the chairman to reach a compromise for the good of the nation,if you ask for 100% and you get 50% why not work with the 50 holding on to another agreement for the balance, this you do for the good of the nation in general ,but the nigeria mentality would be no i must get what i want and how i want it ,for me decades of rot can't be solved over night or in one regime if they keep been adamant to negotiations it would mean they in for their pockets or its politically motivated because this is not the right time for strike and they should understand one thing the consequences of making students sit at home without doing anything would affect all so the best thing to do is to reach a compromise we all know we need stability but most of us shy away from the truth. |
Pastor Tunde Bakare, the founder of the Latter Rain Ministries in a recent interview talks about the newly approved political party in Nigeria, APC. The former running mate to General Buhari blasts the member of All Progressives Congress calling them bunch of looters. Tunde Bakare claims most of the member in this new party are even richer than their states after looting them dry. Excerpts You are not sure if you will participate in the 2015 elections? With who? The collection of rogues, right, left and centre? Not even with the progressives? Who are the progressives in Nigeria; mention their names? Are you persuaded that they are progressives, progressive where, taking you where? The progressives who formed the All Progressive Congress (APC) If the devil becomes a pastor, Nigerians will attend his church, because they don't know the true church and they cannot distinguish it from the synagogue of satan. Some of these governors are far richer than their states, because they are looting their states dry, Tunde Bakare concluded. http://www.ipaidabribenaija.com/index.php/politics/item/61959 |
Agents 44 Gunned Down Nigeria Mosque MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Suspected Islamic militants wearing army fatigues gunned down 44 people praying at a mosque in northeast Nigeria, while another 12 civilians died in an apparently simultaneous attack, security agents said Monday. The attacks were the latest in a slew of violence blamed on religious extremists in this West African oil producer, where the radical Boko Haram group, which wants to oust the government and impose Islamic law, poses the greatest security threat in years. The news from Borno state, one of three in the northeast under a military state of emergency, came as journalists received a video featuring Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who gloats over recent attacks, threatens more, and even says his group is now strong enough to go after the United States. The mosque slayings occurred Sunday morning in Konduga town, some 35 kilometers (22 miles) outside Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria's Borno state. A state security service agent and Usman Musa, a member of a civilian militia that works with the military, said Monday they had counted the bodies at the mosque after the attack. Musa said four members of his group — known as the Civilian JTF —also were killed when they reached Konduga and encountered "fierce resistance from heavily armed terrorists." Musa and the security service agent said the attackers wore military camouflage uniforms used by the Nigerian army, which they may have acquired in one of their attacks on military bases. On their way back from Konduga, the security forces came upon the scene of another attack at Ngom village, 5 kilometers (3 miles) outside Maiduguri, where Musa said he counted 12 bodies of civilians. Twenty-six worshippers at the mosque were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, said a security guard at the emergency ward of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. He and the state security agent both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to give information to reporters. It was not immediately clear why the mosque in Konduga was targeted, but Boko Haram has in the past attacked mosques whose clerics have spoken out against religious extremism. The group also has attacked Christians outside churches and teachers and schoolchildren, as well as government and military targets. Nigeria declared a state of emergency in much of the northeast on May 14 to fight the onslaught after Boko Haram fighters took over several northeastern towns and villages in this nation of more than 160 million, which is divided almost equally between the predominantly Muslim north and the mainly Christian south. In the video received by journalists Monday, Shekau brushes off any gains asserted by the security forces. "You soldiers have claimed that you are powerful, that we have been defeated, that we are mad people," Shekau says, speaking in the local Hausa language. "But how can a mad man successfully coordinate recent attacks in Gamboru, in Malam Fatori, slaughter people in Biu, kill in Gwoza and in Bama, where soldiers fled under our heavy fire power? "We have killed countless soldiers and we are going to kill more." He further insists the extremists "strength and firepower has surpassed that of Nigeria. ... We can now comfortably confront the United States of America." Under orders from the military, cellphone and Internet service has been cut in Borno, making communications difficult. The military says the extremists were using cellphones to coordinate attacks. But some government officials argue that the lack of communication prevents civilians from informing them of suspicious movements and getting help when they are attacked. ___ Faul reported from Lagos, Nigeria. http://www.naijapundit.com/news/agents-44-gunned-down-nigeria-mosque |
