Phones / Mtn Equals False by JKWilliams: 9:42pm On Dec 04, 2015
This is getting too much and I'm going to take this up with their management and NCC.

The other day I transfer fund to my second phone line and 3 days ago I wanted to use that line to make a call but to my utmost surprise, the company called MTN has removed almost all funds on that line and they left 10 Naira. I was so busy that day and I was unable to call their customer line to give them a piece of my mind.

Fast forward to today, this falsely glorified company deducted 50 Naira from my first phone line again saying they reactivated caller tunes. I have never subscribed for caller tunes. I call them, took 2 hours to get through and I asked for a refund and all they keep saying is that they apologize.

I'm going to take this further but how long are we going to keep taking this nonsense from all these businesses that keep taking us for a ride?

Imagine them removing 50 Naira from the balance of 1,000,000 subscribers, that's 50 Million Naira in one single day.

NCC really need to further fine MTN into oblivion.
Travel / Re: How I Was Scammed At Lagos Airport by JKWilliams: 7:52pm On Nov 09, 2015
This is mine:

The guy walked up to me to seek assistance about not having fund for transport. I gave him and he said he will be glad if I can add a little extra because the amount I gave was not up to the actual transport fare and I added a little more.

Can you imagine I saw the same idiot two days later asking another stranger for money with the same story line?

Couple of days later he came to me again with the same story, he thought I will not remember him. Then I told him to his face that he his a thief and that the next time he crossed my part that I will embarrass him angry.

Fast forward to today and coincidental with OP's story, a lady asked for my assistance and I ignored her request, why? because I remember the idiot I mention above and how dishonest many people are and she even fits right into the category of swindlers.

Also couple of days earlier I saw two beggar, those where one sits on the chair and the other pushes across the street. They stopped at a corner like they are resting from the days work and can you imagine that the one sitting on the chair stood up to stroll around and relax, when they saw that passers by are now suspicious, they disappeared. On looking at them closely, I saw that they are young guys pretending that they are physically challenged in other to swindle people of their hard earn money. Many of the so called beggars should be arrested, they are scammers and fraudsters in disguise.

Many people are not ready to sit down and use their hands to work, they want to be rich right now and they don't mind cheating, stealing and using all devious ways to achieve their aim, what a shame.

@jkwilliams I'm Having the same issue, have you managed to sort yours out and how did you go about it.
This is making it the 1 month n 2weeks now since I went to submit my bio datas and was told no paper on ground..

I was not directly affected. A friend of mine was affected that's why I posted here. I was informed that they want you to bribe them before they issue it to you (This may be the case in some states). Go to their office, tell them you need it urgently and ask them how they can help you, you will probably be shocked at their response.

This country is so corrupt.
Travel / Nigerian Immigration Passport Issuance Office And Their Shenanigan. by JKWilliams: 2:12pm On Aug 23, 2015
Dear Member,

I'm surprised that no one has brought up this issue or notified this community on the irresponsibility of the Nigerian immigration service precisely their passport issuance office.

I have been hearing from multiple reliable sources that the Nigerian immigration passport issuance office has been accepting application for the 32 page passport through their website and state offices while there are no availability of the 32 page booklet. Why accept and collect money when the "product" is not available?

Many complainant that went online to follow through with their online application said that no warning or notice was displayed concerning non-availability. Rather they let the application pass through to the payment page where payment is then collected.

Many people including but not limited to students that are due to resume in U.K., U.S. and Canada for October and January semesters are stranded waiting for passport issuance. If they can't issue 32 page passport and it's taking them over 3 months to print a common booklet then they should ask those that pay for 32 pages to pay the difference in fee and upgrade their application to the 64 page passport rather than keep them waiting or do they expect them to come and pay another fee? They are really taking citizens for granted.

My advice to any one looking to apply for the 32 page passport is DO NOT try it! They will just collect payment and then tell you they ran out of stock.

Phones / Etisalat Has Gone Nuts! by JKWilliams: 10:59pm On Jul 15, 2015
Imagine an Etisalat line I have been using for 4 years getting barred. The line is registered and suddenly just few hours ago I can't make calls.

I called customer care and they are not making any sense. They are telling me the line was "registered" but not "properly registered". After how many years

Smh for this country.
Travel / Re: Travel To USA To Meet The Girl Am Dating by JKWilliams: 9:15pm On Apr 16, 2015
Let me be clear to you. It's going to be a long fight but you should try and get a job or do something with your current skills, prove that you are serious and that you can start and provide for your family. This is one of the things the U.S. embassy will watch out for.

The U.S. embassy will give you a tough time whether she comes her or not.

If you don't truly love her, I will advise you to stop now and not use her as an advantage to get to the U.S.

All the best.

Good Afternoon,

Kindly help me with my little issue. I applied for the US visa in March but I was denied based on the fact that I wasn't traveling with my kids
and husband and I haven't changed my maiden name to my husbands name. right now, I want to apply with my husband and two boys in June for Christmas holiday, please do I need to change my fathers name to my husbands name. and what are the chances that my visa will be approved this time. I noticed they gave apparently all those that came with their family members. another issue is that this is our first time of travelling outside the country. Kindly enlighten me more cos it will be very painful to spend such an amount and get the denial again.

God bless you

Christmas in June or do you mean vacation? - I will suggest you choose a reason that is genuine and convincing.

I do not think you need to change to your husband's name, what you should do:

1. Apply together, you and your husband and the two boys.
2. Provide all requested document and don't forget to include evidence of marriage (certificate or any relevant marriage document) with your application.
3. If possible both you and your husband should include convincing reason why you both decided that changing to your husband's family name is not necessary.

All the best.
