Shma: Mention them.
60 is not too many, just list them.
If it's too hard, list those in Joburg alone. Just go on Wikipedia, there is already 59 listed there....then add PWC tower...that equals 60 |

GreenandGold: Buy a Patria overseas and you will see the South African media going up in arms over the purchase. You will see social media up in flames with comments like "they are buying weapons instead of building houses for the poor" or "they have money for weapons but no money for the hungry".
Having them built locally with the "we are creating jobs" tag will solve the problem. Badger is 70% SAn no doubt!! but I still think we wouldn't be in the sh1t right now if we just went for the Iklwa or RG41 |

GreenandGold: The highlighted is the Ratel's protection problem
So, to fix it, one would have to add a bigger engine and add an extra layer of steel around and maybe it would do 20mm protetction, but it is still nothing compared to the Badger's 30mm frontal arc protection. yeah of course can't compare it to the badger I mean its 40 years older The Iklwa is the answer

Shma: Your logic is eating you now.
And stop lying - the debate was all about Nairobi vs Joburg.
I even admitted that Kenya as a whole will take 50yrs to catch up with the current SA - but I came to notice that 50yrs is too much - so let's give it 20yrs - which makes more sense. what i said originally: jl115: Really bru?? you have one city with skyscrapers... We have Joburg, CT, Pretoria, Durban, Bloem ect ect
We have over 50 buildings of 100m + you have 11....yet you are beating us? In terms of what is Kenya going to catch SA?....we already know it ain't economy, can't be road network because we are at least 80 years(11th in the world), can't be rail because we are over a 100 years ahead there(13th in the world) , can't be airports(20th in the world), not see ports, can't be sporting infrastructure, definitely not catching our Universities, not catching our Health sector(especially private) so you ain't catching our economy or infrastructure....so what exactly are you catching?? |

Shma: The shortest residential tower(29fls) in Avic international Is 101.5m, and each flow per ceiling is 3.5m. The office & hotel tower is 4m per ceiling. ok and? considering I just found out the PWC tower is 106m tall and also not listed could mean SA has easily over 60 maybe even 70 buildings over 100m |

kabe1: The upgrade as an interim solution makes sense. However buying the Patria off the shelf would have been the best decision. The Iklwa is a full modernisation of the Ratel, it would easily extent the service life of the Ratel by another 30 years. What we could have also gone for was the RG41 when it was offered by BAE back then....they even warned about the problems the Badger project would face more than a decade ago.

Shma: The point here is Nairobi is catching up with joburg soon. I don't have to stress my sentiment 1m times. You're not even thinking to see the logic - thats why you keep on bringing Kenya vs joburg.
Anyway, here is the list. 1. Britam Tower - 200m 2. Avic Office Tower - 184m 3. UAP Tower - 163m 4. Avic Hotel Tower - 141m 5. Times Tower - 140m 6. Prism Tower - 133m 7. LeMac Tower - 126m 8. Parliament - 125m 9. Teleposta Tower - 120m 10. Avic Residential 1 - 116m 11. Avic Residential 2 - 109m 12. Avic Residential 3 - 109m 13. KCB Tower - 109m 14. KICC - 105M 15. Upper Hill Chambers - 104m 16. Social Security House - 103m 17. Avic Residential 4 - 102m Not Built on hold 18. One Place Africa - 100m height 78m 19. 88 condominium - now past the 100m mark. 20. CBK - 140m More under construction. I'll concede and say 18 based on available information |

kabe1: The initial procurement plan didn't make any sense to me from the start.
What was the thinking behind buying the Patria AMV from Finland, then saying you want to build it in South Africa under a different name?
Why did the SANDF not buy the Patria AMV off the shelf? exactly!!!!! buy the Patria.... Then replace 70% of it to make it "local" ..... Imo we should of gone for the Ratel iklwa upgrade
|
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 7:33am On May 26, 2022 |
GreenandGold: SANDF generals are curving under government political pressure instead of standing on their duties. The Ratel has paper armour, in fact, the reason why it even survived the Border War was because the armed groups of Angola were amateur fighters. In a conventional war with a conventional military, it would be sliced. Replacing hundreds of Ratels with 60-80 Badgers is nothing but falling under political pressure. the Ratel isn't a tank and was specifically designed for irregular warfare such as in Angola.... It not just survived but was extremely successful not because Angolan fighters were amateur(In fact they were easily one of the best trained forces in Africa at that time) but because the Ratel is well designed and used precisely as designed..... Even by today's standard the Ratel has better mine protection than most modern IFVs and with protection against 12.7mm it still compares well with its modern day peers. |

Shma: Nairobi has 23 100m +. don't rely on wiki to feed you with info about Nairobi. Nairobi dwarfs all the cities in SA except Joburg. But for Kenya to catch up to the current level of SA - as a whole, maybe we need 50yrs.
But that is not the point. No one is comparing Kenya with SA. we made a simple estimate that Nai will one day catch up with Joburg, going by the dynamic in infrastructure progress. But your weak emotional boy Austine has caught feelings with that.
He's now calling me a pighead. my bru Kenya hasn't even caught Joburg.... Never mind Nairobi.... Also could you list the 23 100m + buildings in Nairobi.... |

Shma: The problem with you is EGO. EGO of sitting in a 30% white-dominated land and thinking you've made it in life. Ego is now telling you that skyscrapers are something outdated, and as we advance, we should not talk about them - when the world's top-notch engineers are busy planning on how to advance to 1km + super tall.
Anyway, Johannesburg has more taller buildings than any country in Africa. The tallest building in Durban will be dwarfed by UAP, talkless of GTC or Britam. when losing an argument..... Resort to the race card |
