MaxInDHouse: If Christianity doesn't make sense it won't gain more disciples back then, some people just want you to believe the tradition handed over to them by the churches of Christendom even when the so called doctrines is not working out any benefit! Jesus clearly foretold of false religionists that will suffice in the last days, but at the same time he taught us how to distinguish between the real Christians and misrepresentations! Matthew 7:15-20 So it's not about saying some stupid things and then accusing those who refused to swallow the gibberish as unbelievers. If it will win souls then it must be convincing! Act 17:11
I now ask. Who are the real christians? The 10% of them in Israel or the 80% Jewish community in Israel, or the one in Africa that came through slave trade, dehumanization, or the one in rome that was spread through politics and killings?
thorpido: Your analogy doesn't hold water. Jesus already told his disciples he was going to lay down his life.
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.John 10:18.
His will from the very beginning aligned with the Father's will.
It still doesn't matter what you agree from the beginning. That mere agreement means the two are different. But the change 'if it is possible let this cup pass over' is all you need to know that they ain't same. You can align to what ever God wants but it doesn't make you God, especially when you even had that thought in your mind to do otherwise. That's the point.
It's still a commandment he received from God(meaning you have a choice to obey or not to) which implies you can't be God If you have a 'choice' to or not to obey.
jesusjnr2020: It's a spiritual thing. Don't expect the carnal mind to be able to comprehend such things which exceed its scope.
Hahahaha. Spiritual thing. You just answered contrary to what is even obtainable among the early christians. That's the problem with Africa They don't even know what they practice
thorpido: At the end of it all,was THE SAME will fulfilled or not?
N.B.Jesus had an earthly body here on the Earth and was subject to pain like every human being. His statement of asking to let the cup pass over him was from the point of 'fleshy rejection'.
Stop twisting English language. You and your club fixed a match to end draw .. at the 90th minute you wished for you to win.. but later saw you couldn't do anything about it. Your will at stoppage time is for you to win. Not draw.
jesusjnr2020: Many don't know what it took for God to let His Word to leave His abode in heaven to dwell and leave as man on Earth. It was sacrificial decision God made because of the extent of His love for the world, because such was the first separation of its kind where the Three in Person would not be together in heaven.
So the Word of God leaving God in heaven to be on Earth was just a matter of necessity otherwise it would have never happened. So if that was already an unusual situation for God, to also have His Spirit also leave heaven in addition to His Word would be unbearable.
And at that stage The Word of God had completed His job on Earth which was to die and and multiply Himself upon the Earth. So what was left was for the Spirit of God to confirm the Word that had multiplied, therefore at that stage the Spirit of God was needed on Earth more than The Word of God that came from above.
Hence the saying of Jesus to His disciples that it was to their advantage that He left because at that stage they needed God's Spirit more than Him.
God bless.
It doesn't make sense to me.. Word left , formed human, human left then spirit is sent to confirm the word that formed human being.
MaxInDHouse: I read through your post and discovered the highlighted. This is where the wisdom comes in!
Jesus was prepared to do his father's will, he knew he's going to die, he related the experience of past prophets who were slaughtered for the sake of righteousness, he encouraged his followers to lay down their lives for the TRUTH, he told his followers several times that he will be the sacrifice that's going to remove sin, so he was fully prepared for the task but one thing that's making Jesus feel uncomfortable!
Being killed as a criminal and labelled as a blasphemer!
Jesus loved the family lineage through which he was born [b]"the lineage of God's faithful servants the likes of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David. Jesus was proud of that heritage but when it comes to dying Jesus finds it so difficult to accept that what Satan is proposing is for Jesus to be accused, arrested, tried, convicted, judged, sentenced and executed all to appear as if going through the lawful process whereas it was all done unjustly!
How will such story tell on the lineage of Jacob's future progenies? Who will tell them that it was all done unlawfully? Jesus' true followers will be killed and treated as false religionists who are propagating paganism in the land where Jesus has been fighting all his prehuman existence to preserve as God's own nation! So this thought is what made Jesus cried and cried not for himself but for the coming generation of Jews who will find it really hard to believe that the Messiah all the prophets have spoken about has come and was killed like a common criminal on false charges of blasphemy!
Satan is an angel too so he knew what Jesus will find very hard to swallow, that's exactly what he demanded as a means of killing the Messiah! Of course it's Satan's agents that will mastermind the killing, Jesus was anticipating murder just as the Jews did for all past prophets {Matthew 23:37-38} but Satan knew what Jesus won't find so easy. Well as the ruler of the world Satan presented his proposal to God and God revealed this to Jesus at the moment when he is about to offer himself. That's what Jesus was begging his father to change! He was prepared to die but not as a criminal or a blasphemer! At the end a life was saved, one of the thieves executed alongside Jesus accepted Christianity so Jesus' pain was relieved if a dying man on the torture stake could accept Jesus as King, then nobody as NOBODY could be excused!
God bless you!
My brother .. I like your permutations. But it doesn't matter how long someone knows he will die. The question is at that point of his death.. he said if it were possible let this cup pass over me ; that's a statement of intent (divided will) ... Let the will be done (the will of God) God cannot have two 'wills' over a situation at a particular time. So that analysis is flawed
Nuttella: I'm done with this unnecessary argument, believe whatever you want. The heresy I heard today from you is that the holy ghost is an angel. Be careful how you blasphem the holy spirit. The holy spirit is like a wind, the spirit of God and is not an angel, he comes in different forms, the spirit of God is God. Jesus is God, all of them make up the Godhead. Bye.
You see one strange thing about Africans. My brother just answer that question. Leave his heresy. We all Wana learn
Valkrie: @OP..I get confused atimes with stuff like this..you claim to be able to want to teach people magickal ways to attract money, meaning you are a guru in the art and charging people for money again...? If what you want to teach people works I don't think you would be asking people for such meagre money as you would have been very rich from it and even want to lift people off poverty by that way and priding free info...I don't get it...
I do tell people, if you want to cure your high blood pressure, do come to nairaland

BastardWike: I really don't get your point. Is the video I posted not Kisumu city centre? Is Owerri city centre or any of our cities that beautiful with the good roads, sidewalks, trees, covered gutters and all? This is supposed to be a city from a poor third world African country yet all you do is go look for a slum in its suburbs to prove what exactly?
The truth is that Bank road, Wetherel and other parts of Owerri can be made to be even more beautiful than that Kenyan city if our governors are up and doing. Instead all we have here are bad roads, open gutters, no sidewalks, no trees or flowers or even road markings, everything is poor and mediocre! A government will manage to build a little one another will come in demolish it and the circle continues.
Look at this thread and all you see are just hotels being built by individuals and nothing more, no significant government intervention aside demolitions.
Stop contradicting yourself Show us any where in owerri that has the type of ghetto kishamu has
[quote author=OruExpress post=97694163]but there's no part of Owerri that looks like what I presented so you logic is flawed. Your right that governors can do better but this mentality of always having to compare ignorantly isn't helping another. Do people live in a city center? Isn't it the suburbs that are more important? A better Owerr
Ihedinobi3: As I said to your cohort jman24, it's not my job to dictate what you believe or don't believe. That's your right as an autonomous human being. If you believe that something is ridiculous, then dismiss it and pay it no further mind. If you think that it makes all the sense in the world, then believe it and live by it. My opinion does not need to count.
We are trying to be as logical as possible. Nobody is dismissing each others opinion(in my case).
ANTIlSLAM: I should explain how Jesus is God as if you're new here on NL, how many times are we (Children of God) gonna explain this to you? How did you manage to pass your exam in school
Lol. Why do you guys bear all these names ; Anti this Anti that..
But on a more serious note. How can God(eternal) 'no beginning or end' descend to be a man? I can't even justify this incomprehensibility.
Jeremiah 4:10 Then I said, "Ah, Sovereign LORD, how completely you have deceived (nasha) this people and Jerusalem by saying, 'You will have peace,' when the sword is at our throats."
We have it in...
1 Kings 22:20-22 And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' "One suggested this, and another that. 21 Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.' " 'By what means?' the LORD asked. " 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. " 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'
Here we see that the man said that he would resort to lying in order to entice Ahab and God supported the idea and told him to go ahead and do it!
We even have it in...
Ezekiel 14:9-11 " 'And if the prophet is enticed to utter a prophecy, I the LORD have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel. 10 They will bear their guilt-the prophet will be as guilty as the one who consults him. 11 Then the people of Israel will no longer stray from me, nor will they defile themselves anymore with all their sins. They will be my people, and I will be their God, declares the Sovereign LORD.' "
God is punishing him for a crime that He enticed him to do in the first place? Isn't that entrapment?
Another passage...
Isaiah 37:6-7 Isaiah said to them, "Tell your master, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard-those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.'
God had that spirit spread a rumor so that the King of Assyria can to return to his homeland. In short, that spirit's purpose was for deception.
Another example from the Bible...
Isaiah 19:14 The LORD has poured into them a spirit of dizziness; they make Egypt stagger in all that she does, as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.
Here we see God deceiving people to the extent that they become absolutely foolish.
Even though I don't believe the Gospels teach that Jesus taught he was God, however this example is for those who believe that Jesus is God. Jesus admits that he was speaking figuratively all this time...
John 16:25 "Though I have been speaking figuratively (paroimia), a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father.
Why wasn't Jesus speaking in a normal and clear way all the time? Why did Jesus then go and say that he won't 'use this kind of language'?
Well, here we find out why...
Mark 4:10-12 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12so that," 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'
So here we see that Jesus was deceiving certain people by speaking in parables so that they won't (and God forbid!) REPENT AND BE FORGIVEN!
Also in...
2 Thessalonians 2:11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.
So God will delude people so that they can believe lies?
Theguided: The definition of God is eternal, i.e no beginning and no end. A man that has a date of birth has a beginning. God becoming a man is a contradiction. It's like a bachelor getting married and still being called a bachelor. The very definition of a bachelor is an unmarried man. Saying a bachelor got married made him no longer a bachelor. The same way saying God became a man no longer makes the man God.. The only true GOD is the Creator of heaven and earth. The creator of all the creation. The creator that sent all the prophets to tell us about him and they did just that and man turned Jesus (peace be upon him) a creation of God to God when Jesus didn't say that. How long do you think it would take Jesus to just say the "I am God, worship me". He lived 30something years (according to the bible) and he missed out the most important message the Christians claim today. I don't think he was trying to be humble. He is a servant of God not God. Worship his God
I'm afraid I don't understand. Where did I say that Jesus was "a kind of God"?
God is Spirit, of course. I'm not sure what confusion there is in that. What that means is just that God is not made of any material that this creation is made of. The "substance" of God is Spirit. This is true of all Persons of God -- of the Father, of Jesus, and of the Holy Spirit. They are all Spirit. The difference with Jesus is that He also acquired a created nature so He is both Spirit and human unlike the other Two.
My brother I'm only asking a question. Isn't it contradictory to say God who is also a spirit who is not made of any material (from creation) manifested himself (jesus) in a human nature ? My brother check am naa .

So if God was not made of any material that this creation is made of , how come he took the nature of the human(made of creation) manifested in birth of Jesus? Is this not absolutely contradictory?
God is spirit ! Yes Something is not quite right with the factor Jesus. That's my point
Ihedinobi3: And, of course, since Jesus is God just like the Father is God, dealing with One is dealing with the Other. Seeing Jesus is seeing the Father. No one will get anything different from the Father than they would have got from Jesus. This still does not mean that the two are one person. It only means that they are the same kind of person.
As I said, don't worry about me. I am happy to teach what I have learned and let those who have ears hear. To be born again at this point would make it being born a third time. It sounds like apostasy to me. So I have no plan to accommodate it in my life. That is why I urged you not to bother to change my mind. My answers are not for you, because I don't believe you are looking for any answers. So please ignore me and continue to believe and teach what you like. The reward for that is between you and the Lord.
My brother. You are also confirming my fears that Jesus is just like other Messengers of God. Because most of them behaved alike in their prophecies, teaches and miracle works). Meaning that You(Jesus) can't be God if you are "a kind of him" according to you insinuations.
So hope you can accept this reality you have just submitted? Else I don't know how we will see clear English language and twist it.
Seems 'God is spirit' looks more authentic and widely acceptable. The whole confusion if you notice is in the other factor Jesus ( meaning, something must be wrong somewhere)
The holy spirit and Jesus are not the same don't mislead people sir
Spend less time trying preach and more time living a godly life that will inspire others to live a good life too
That's what it.means to be truly christ like
You see how at times I begin to question man made religion. Someone spelt out something black and white and you say the ain't the same?. Is it that I didn't learn my English language well in school or what?
First, the 'He' was used to address the holy Spirit meaning he is personified. Second, he shed his blood( the only person that shed his blood on the cross for mankind according to christians is Jesus unless you are saying otherwise Third, if you say the holy Spirit and Jesus ain't the same then it finally confirms my fear that all these stories were created by men
LukasPodolski: my state is actually better in almost everything..
Oyo (not actually my state)
The best University in Nigeria. A 25k seater stadium / another 10k seater stadium. a fast train, equiped with modern facilities. the busiest highway in Nigeria. the number of media houses (mostly radio stations is more than Imo, Abia and Enugu state combined) Ibadan has a population of 2.5million, the third in Nigeria. more than 10malls. lots of recreational centres, let me stop here.
no Igbo state can beat this.
Comedian. I have wished you happy new year naa with an advice to be proud of your state(not joining pictures with another state) Funny friend
LukasPodolski: I didn't even mention hotels.... There are better hotels in Ibadan than any SE cities. And why can't your Sam mbakse or whatever be the busiest, why 4th and not 1st, you're even proud of being the fourth. What you people who own Lagos airport do then, they should invite Beyonce to celebrate having the busiest airport?
You were posting pictures mall, I told you to stop because they are normal and basic things, Ibadan alone has two ShopRites with other malls totalling 7-8 So you posting these basic things got nothing on me, that's why I asked you to stop...
And if you can post your malls and hotel why can't you post u universities?
