Seven of the victims of Lekki massacre appeared at the Lagos State Judicial Panel on police brutality and other human rights abuses by the operatives of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Their lawyer, Mr Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika SAN told the panel that he has a petition from them against the Nigerian Army.

Olumide-Fusika sought directions from Justice Doris Okuwobi (Rtd)-led a panel on how to proceed with the petition.

The panel, which rose briefly, has just returned to continue to the hearing.

Mrs. Funmilayo Akinade has revealed that her son Seyi Akinade killed himself after losing N7 million while being detained illegally by SARS operatives.

She made this known to the panel of inquiry on police brutality in Ogun on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

According to Funmilayo Akinade, the operatives were from the Zonal Intervention Squad of SARS, a police formation at Obada – Oko, near Abeokuta, at that time.

The victim who gave his name as Isaac Samson has cleared the air about the incident and what really transpired between him and the officers.

A video which earlier went viral showed some officers of the police force assaulting a passerby on a pink shirt.

According to him, he was passing along the road and he saw them arresting and dragging an Okada Rider.

He said he was like – “they don start again o”, and then one of the officers rushed him and asked him what they started again.

Kannywood magazine, FIM MAGAZINE, on Saturday detailed that the on-screen character retired a family trip to Dubai and made a reroute to Kaduna to respect the police invitation.

The magazine assist detailed that the on-screen character would have been arrested in Abuja, but for the mediation of a senior police officer, who won on his colleagues to permit her yield herself for addressing in Kaduna.

The Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr Mohammed Adamu faces criticism from a rights group, International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) for ordering men of Nigeria Police Force to use force against members of the public when their lives are threatened.

In a statement signed by the chairman, board of trustees of the group, Mr Emeka Umeagbalasi and four other members of the group, the group said that such orders showed that Nigeria police is ‘unchangeable and untrainable’.

The Northern filmmakers under the aegis of Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) has suspended Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, over a backless dress she wore in recent photos posted online.

According to Vanguard, the body in a statement said the post by the actress has resulted to blasphemous comments against the Holy Prophet of Islam on social media.

This comes after the actress posted a video on Instagram where she apologized and begged Muslim community for forgiveness over the controversy that trailed the dress.

Recall that the apex body of Northern filmmakers had earlier suspended the actress in October of 2016 for similar misconduct.

But the Kano State Censors Board under Mallam Ismail Na Abba Afakkallah granted her unconditional pardon in 2018

The Police in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state apprehended two men who allegedly swindled a doctor into buying an “Aladdin’s lamp” for $93,000 that they promised would bring wealth and good fortune.

Dr Laeek Khan reported to police in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh after he realized the lamp did not have any magical powers, as described in the popular folk tale about Aladdin and his wish-granting genie that appears when it is rubbed.

“The cheats had struck a deal for much more but the doctor had paid about seven million rupees ($93,000),” Amit Rai, a senior officer told the AFP news agency.

He said the men were arrested on Thursday, October 29. and were remanded in custody ahead of charges being filed.

Chaos in Daudu community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State as youths protest over the sudden disappearance of manhood in the community.

Ekohotblog learned that over seven men have reportedly been victims so far, causing fear among men in the communities.

Speaking on the current issue, the Acting State Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State, James Ornguga confirmed that the manhood of seven men have allegedly disappeared in the community mysteriously.

The protest which started at the Daudu main market led to traffic gridlock on the Makurdi-Lafia highway for hours before the Nigerian police arrived and dispersed the crowd.

Reacting to the development, the acting traditional ruler of the community, Chief Chado Oliver (acting Tyoor of Daudu) said he is aware of the situation and has asked the people to present a victim to confirm their claims but they haven’t done so.

Meanwhile, our correspondent who reached out to the spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene said some of those who made the allegations are currently undergoing medical check-up.

She added that further investigation is ongoing, and calm has been restored in the community

President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathized  with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, over the earthquake that struck both countries.

Ekohotblog confirmed that not less than 60 people were killed after both countries experienced a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on October 30, 2020.

Guardiola stated this on Saturday, after watching his side win Sheffield United in the Premier League.

The Spaniard was responding to speculations linking him with a return to Nou Camp to link up with former protege, Lionel Messi.

A lawyer, Mr Inibehe Effiong, has petitioned the Lagos State Government to release the CCTV footage of the Lekki shooting, Ekohotblog has learnt.

It was recalled that on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the Nigerian Army allegedly opened fire on unarmed protesters at Lekki toll gate, Lagos state.

Reacting to the attack, the Defence Headquarters claimed that alleged videos of the incident on social media were photoshopped.

On Monday, Effiong announced that he had made requests to Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the State, to release the footage of the incident.

Pastor Tunde Bakare has commented on the #EndSARS movement which has caught global attention in the last few days.

The General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly described the protest as a tip of the iceberg and further stated that no degree of brutal repression of protesters can quench the flame of protests in the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people.

The cleric who described SARS as a state-aided robbery gang, added that the #EndSARS protest is not just a protest against police brutality but also a protest against the entirety of the failed governance structure.

Nigerian journalist Michael Abimboye, has appealed to the Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu , to visit and investigate the ongoing ethnic clash in Fagba area of Lagos State.

Michael revealed on Twitter that there is an ongoing ethnic clash between Hausa and Yoruba ethnic groups in Fagba, resulting in the looting of some Igbo shops in the area.

He also said that communities have lost about 15 persons and several properties damaged since the clash started.

Actress Doris Ogala has accused her former friend Uche Elendu of lying that her store was looted by hoodlums.

Uche Elendu shared videos and photos on Instagram and looked dejected as she revealed her years of hard work have been reduced in one day by hoodlums.

She later took to Instagram to share another video from the store, showing the extent of the damage done.

She revealed every single thing was stolen and the ones they couldn’t carry out were destroyed. She then thanked people who have been making donations to help her get back on her feet.

Hundreds of youths on Friday burst the Cocoa House, Ede where varieties of food items were stored and looted them.

The youths and residents thronged the area around 11:40 AM and carted away packs of noodles, rice, sugar, garri, and other food items kept for COVID-19 palliative.

Some of the youths came with motorcycles, buses, and other means of transportation to convey food looted from the warehouse.

Following the ongoing EndSARS protest, Angry Nigerians living in Austria have attacked the Nigerian envoy to Austria, in the capital city, Vienna.

In a video currently making rounds on the internet, the top Nigerian representative was rescued by Austrian policemen after mob attacked him.

According to the report, the attack on the Nigerian envoy was a retaliation to the alleged killing of unarmed EndSARS protesters by some security operatives in Lagos, Nigeria.

The angry Nigerians were heard chanting in anger and calling out to him to stop corrupt practices, including the attack on unarmed protesters in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, The Nigerian embassy in Austria is yet to make an official statement following the attack on the envoy.

Benin residents have seized an helicopter, believed to have missed its navigational route and landed in the city.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning in Oluku Community on the outskirt of Benin City, Edo State capital.

In the video posted by an anonymous social media user, residents of the community were seen surrounding the helicopter.

One of the residents who recorded the scene was heard in Pidgin saying that the chopper was on a surveillance mission to the community.

“Live and direct from Oluku. Helicopter missed road. Na him e land for Oluku, men don seize am. As he be like this, na seize o.

Na so e dey happen . Wetin make am land, na him go make us seize am o? Wetin police come find for Oluku? Ok, una come observe area? Live and direct o”, the narrator was heard saying in the 21-second video.

In an interview with Vanguard which has resurfaced on the internet, the mother of a 500 level student who was killed and buried by a DPO speaks up on her sons death.

Ekohotblog reported that CSP Carol Afegbai (Retired) mother to Nigerian actress, Lilian Afegbai was called out on social media based over the alleged murder of a 500L student of the University of Benin, Momodu Ibrahim.

The incident in question took place while Carol was still the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogida Police Station.

In an Interview in 2013, Ibrahim Momodu’s mother, identified as Mrs Osas Momodu cried for justice during the said interview.

Speaking during the interview, Mrs Osas Momodu said, “ My son had not been passing the night outside.

So when I waited and he did not come back on Monday night, on Tuesday, I left for work. I came back and discovered that the food I kept for him was still there.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has called on her husband, President Buhari, and the other security chiefs to act fast and stop the bloodshed and insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

Primero Transport Services Ltd., operator of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Lagos State, has announced a suspension of its operations on Ikorodu and TBS routes due to the EndSARS protests.

The firm’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Mutiu Yekeen, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.

“Following the ongoing protests in Lagos State and other parts of the country, Primero Transport Services Limited has suspended operations on the Ikorodu to TBS corridor for this weekend- Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday 18.

“The protest which has impacted the operations of the company in the last week is on a three-day marathon stage this weekend.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and start operations as soon as the road is clear.

UN Ambassador for peace and social justice, Hussaini Coomassie, has condemned the activities of the EndSARS protesters and urged President Buhari to deploy the military on protesters across the country.

Hussaini Coomassie, who is the Deputy National Coordinator,  Buhari Campaign Organization, in a viral video, said President Buhari is taking things lightly with the protesters.

The ambassador stated that such nonsense could never have happened during the ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure.
