The popular American rapper Ricky Hawk widely known as Silento has been charged for the murder of his cousin.

The DeKalb County Police Department broke the news of his arrest yesterday, Monday, February 1, 2021.

“Today, Ricky Hawk, 23, was arrested for the murder of his cousin Frederick Rooks, 34. On January 21, the DeKalb County Police Department investigated Rooks’ death after he was found shot on Deep Shoals Circle. Hawk is in the DeKalb County Jail charged with Murder.

After a thorough investigation, DKPD detectives identified Hawk as Rooks’ cousin, and the suspect responsible for Rooks’ murder,”

The DeKalb County Police Department said in a statement. “Investigators are still working to uncover the motive for the shooting.”” the tweet read.

A representative for the DeKalb County Police Department said that they investigated a shooting on Jan. 21 at approximately 3:30 a.m. after Rooks was found in the roadway, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Rooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nigerian movie industry mourns yet another actor, Ernest Asuzu who died aged 36 on Tuesday, 26th January 2021.
According to reports reaching us, prior to his death, Ernest Asuzu had suffered a stroke, an ailment that halted his career for many years while unknown to the general public.
Close sources revealed that the ailment was so severe that the actor was also unable to walk for years and resorted to supporting aids like a wheelchair and crutches.

President Buhari led Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a bill extending the retirement age for teachers in the country from 60 years to 65 years.

The FEC, during its first meeting of the year 2021, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, approved the bill; Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers Bill, 2021, to be sent to the National Assembly for its consideration and possible approval.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has given seven days ultimatum to herdsmen to immediately vacate forest reserves within the state.

Akeredolu who fumed over the nefarious activities of the herdsmen across the state in a meeting on Monday stated that his administration will not fold its arms and allow a few individuals to turn the State into a haven of dare-devil criminals.

The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami and the state commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Mr Tunji Adeleye.

While ordering that all Forest Reserves in the State are to be vacated by herdsmen within the next seven days with effect from today, Monday, Akeredolu decried the activities of the criminal elements, adding that they have turned forest reserves in the state and across the Southwest into hideouts for keeping victims of kidnapping, negotiating for ransom and carrying out other criminal activities.

“Recent security trends attest that these times require all hands to be on the deck as the difficulties we face are dire. The challenges are quite enormous, but we are determined to confront them head-on.

A former Rivers state House of Representatives member, Jerome Eke, is dead. He died ten days after he lost his wife, Joan.

Late Eke who represented Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 He died last Friday, January 15, ten days after his wife passed away on January 5. The cause of their deaths is yet to be revealed by members of his family.

His friends and business associates have taken to social media to express their grief over the tragic news.

Gunmen on Sunday night abducted travelers along Omoh/Erin-Ijesha road in Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State

Our correspondent gathered the travellers were waylaid by gunmen, who took some of them to nearby bush around Ori-Oke Omoh while others were left at the scene.

The Corps Commander of Amotekun outfit, Osun State, General Bashir Adewinbi confirmed the incident.

“We did not know the numbers of people that were kidnapped by gunmen but we have drafted people to the scene of the crime to secure there release,” he stated.

Police spokesperson, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, also confirmed the incident and said:”Two people were kidnapped on Sunday evening and our men have been deployed to the area to rescue them.”

A security source said: ‘The Commissioner of Police alerted the Amotekun corps about the kidnap.

“The police with the Amotekun corps have been mobilized to the scene. The area that they kidnapped those travelers has been giving security agents issues for a while now.

“There was a time that they shot Amotekun corps there. The numbers of those abducted by the gunmen are not known.”
