The opponents of this APDA in Yoruba land will mischievously call it APODA and that will be its end in the SW. Remember how they termed NRC as egbe eleye ( because of its symbol) which distracted many from following it. |

Career › Re: How To Become Practically Indispensable As A Teacher by Jobabori(m): 2:19pm On Apr 02, 2017 |
shadeyinka: I am of the opinion that good teachers are born and not made. No amount of degree in Education will make a non gifted personality a good teacher.
Its more about the attitude, and genue love to touch the lives of the students. That cannot be taught.
Kudos to you.
I honestly wish that our schools do not accept teachers mainly because they read NCE or had a B.End but because they can teach the subject they profess. A little guidance in the rudiments of teaching and learning (in-house Teaching and Learning Education Class would do these kinds) A good teacher should be both born and made. Attitude and genuine love that you suggested as the main issue are just part of affective domain. A trained teacher knows that he still need to improve on cognitive and psychomotor domains of the child. This shows the difference between a teacher and a cheater. A NCE or BEd holder is a teacher while non qualified ones are cheaters. |

Caseless: A.B.U does not give cheap education and does not celebrate producing drama queens and noisemakers. The same ABU that gave DINO admission to read geography without a credit in the subject and admitted a third class graduate to her master's program without a PGD. Cheap education is available there as you do not need "O" level requirements to gain admission to ABU but just a letter of recommendation from an Emir. |
Politics › Re: ABU Graduates Defend Dino Melaye, Say Their Names Not On Convocation List Too by Jobabori(m): 11:06am On Mar 28, 2017 |
mikedimeji: I laugh in Greek. There's a saying in Yoruba, whoever is caught in the act is the thief. If ABU is a substandard university in Nigeria then all I can do is laugh and laugh... Majority of people commenting on this issue have brain but refused to use their analytical mind to evaluate carefully. 1. They said Geography can never be in Faculty of Art. Aside that it's been proven we all know that serious universities do review their curriculum year in year out hence it explain why some course were removed from one Faculty to the other. My brother graduated from a Nigerian university with BA Mass communication, two years later people who graduated from the same university same department were awarded Bsc Mass communication. 2. They allegedly said he served (NYSC) in 1999, whereas the tweet never said anything of such. In the tweet he said ABU 1999 set in Kaduna camp. Someone has also told us that they both served in Kaduna in 2000 and passed out in July 2011, Senate also confirmed this. 3. They said he didn't graduate. The Vice Chancellor said based on evidence available to him as the serving vice chancellor he graduated with BA Geography. Mind u, the year the school senate approves ur result is the year u graduate as far as the schoo is concerned. 4. On Convocation brochure, believe it or not, either by omission or what have u some peoples name will not appear on the list, does that mean u didn't graduate? 5. As far as Nigerian Universities are concern, u can't rule out waivers and it's not up to u. I'm not related to Dino, I just feel to whom brain is given common sense is required. Yes we all know that there's no smoke without fire, but Yoruba people said it's only people that squat that can see themselves very well. That is their business because it doesn't put food on my table. The simple truth is Nigerian Universities are Not there yet. But you deliberately forget to defend your substandard university who admitted a candidate with 3 credits to read geography without a credit in geography |

TonySpike: He's right to an extent. It is improper for any University to ask for academic transcript from itself. This is another ploy to squeeze money from its alumni. The international practice would be for your would-be postgraduate department (in the same University) to request for your academic records at the central Exams Office. But this is Nigeria and any goes, even at the Ivory Tower. I did my first degree at Great Ife. When I applied to UI for masters, my transcript from Ife was demanded for. When I returned back to UI for Ph.D, my master's transcript was not required. Admission requirements and procedures in schools are not uniform. |

I observed that most of the home works been given to Primary School children now are indirectly given to their parents to solve as most of them are beyond the cognitive capacity of the children. As parents or others like the OP are the one actually doing it, the children gain nothing from such tasks. Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) should wake up to their responsibilities by assessing these books and determine the age cohorts they are meant for. Developmental milestones should be the guiding principle for the authors and publishers not trying to impress the parents who are mostly illiterates or partially educated. |

Pavore9: Do not generalize!
In many Igbo communities, a child born by a woman who no man has paid her dowry belongs to her father's family. Some of these children born within such circumstance, go with their mothers when she gets married and bear the name of their mother's husband while some stay back and continue to bear their maternal grandfather's name!.
A woman getting pregnant for a man does not make her his wife but dowry does! That is the stand of culture. Are you saying Nduka has not pay dowry after two children?. I did not limit my explanation to a particular culture but Nigerian in general. Culture varies and are dynamic, so also is what is regarded as dowry in each culture. Igbo community may regard dowry as the main ingredient in marriage but this may not be applicable to other ethnic groups in the nation. There is nothing like baby mama in most of the Nigerian culture. |
Celebrities › Re: Doris Aondoakaa's 40th Birthday: Nduka Obaigbena Throws Party For His Baby Mama by Jobabori(m): 9:01pm On Mar 20, 2017 |
In Nigeria cultural context, baby mama does not exist. A woman that bears a child for a man is his wife. There is nothing like a child out of wedlock that the Britons called bastard in our culture. We are polygamous. A child belongs to his father no matter the situation of his/ her birth. Baby mama is deceitful. The celebrant is a wife to Oga Publisher not a baby mama. |
