afrodoc2: They were playing rubbish on several occasions that time. Just go to their thread in 2022 and 2021. Even Jod.era an Aarsenal fan is telling you that now. Another thing that is as clear as day is that whatever wretched pattern Arteta was playing then it is miles away from what they are playing now.
I support your putting fire under ETH but Arsenal is not the example to use. Arsenal is actually an example someone supporting ETH will use. They played diabolical football for a couple of seasons before Arteta struck gold in the later part of 2021-2022. Exactly. In fact, if I was Christ.obam, na arsenal example I go use hammer Odi.zeey wella cos it is a perfect example. Before the overhaul, almost all arsenal fans in our thread wanted Arteta gone. Most of us couldn't believe he could play beautiful football like this |

ChristoBam: It's good you broke this down. Was actually thinking of mentioning your moniker.
Tbh, compared to Wenger's football, what you had under Emery was probably super negative. But compared to what we're used to at United, it's pure attacking football.
I can't remember a match against you, especially at the Emirates, we didn't end up relying on the counter. That's why there's always so much talk about a team's DNA. Tbh, Emery even tried in his first season playing good football even though e no reach Wenger own. But you see Arteta own in his first 18months? Omorr, you go vomit watching it. I was having nightmares after each match even though I supported his appointment. It was only after his major overhaul we started playing good football and it still wasn't immediately sef. It still took around 3-4 months (around Nov/Dec) before we could actually see the beautiful football and it was around that time the charge for top 4 was evident before we disappointedly finished 5th |

The overhaul Ralf was talking about was not talking about six windows. He said it can happen within one year. A open heart surgery. Will you do an open heart surgery and leave a minor bad part and only work on the major part? Boss, e no reach 6 Windows ooo. Ahhh!!! Ralf Ragnick might be right or wrong about open heart surgery but one thing that was certain was that we really did an open heart surgery. Our 2021/2022 season was really the season we did open heart surgery. If you think I'm lying, compare the squad for 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 |

MA has really tried that it looks like the abysmal years are non-existent. Until you watch those clips and wonder why the owner never say diamonds and support them with all his heart. Mtchew. Na that Arsenal of Santi, Alexis and Ozil pain me pass. What we needed was a very good striker and we'll be sure of winning league especially that 2015/16 season where Coquelin was beast in DM, Alexis was hot while Ozil played his arguably best season in arsenal shirt. We needed a good striker. Just a Van Persie Regen and Wenger just fvckup. Omorr, we wasted that season make I no lie. Na one of the reasons why I'll always always love Sanchez no matter what |

odizeey: Arsenal brought in Arteta 2019, they won FA cup 2020 and started playing good football since then.
Liverpool brought in klopp 2015/2016, from the following season they started entering top four, playing good football till they won all trophies in Europe.
"Trust the process" What process is even here to trust? Actually, we didn't started playing good football till after the overhaul. Before the overhaul, our football was so negative and we were parking the bus on a steady. And yes, there was an overhaul which I'll list for you (with at least 2 windows) GK Ramsdale (Leno) Rb Tomi,(Bellerin) RCB White, (Sokratis) Lcb Gabriel (Luiz) DM Partey (Guen, torreira) Cm Xhaka Am Odegaard (Ozil) LW Martinelli/ESR (Auba) CF Auba then Lacazzette (Lacazzette) Rw Saka(Pepe) From this list, we can see that it was only Xhaka and Auba(and later lacazzette) were the only survivors in the space of just two windows. And it was until we did the major overhaul before we started playing beautifully which was around December 2021.(the season of the major overhaul) NB: I'm not saying it's a must for Ten Haag to do overhaul o, but that arsenal/Arteta indeed did major and drastic overhaul before he could play his type of game |

Everyone knows convincing performance are matches you dominate, create tons of chances and score goals hardly with the opponent threatening you. See Man u second leg for example, we so press their neck well and they hardly threatened us even though the score was 3-2 and we scored dying minute goal. You can't compare that with the 2-1 over nothingham Forest where we didn't even score a dying minute goal |

Spy360: Players like Martinelli and Saka don really spoil us so that when we see other players with different vibes we feel disappointed.
My take is, if Havertz's style is what Arteta wants to win games then no problems.
I remember watching strikers like Trezeguet, Crespo, Nzaghi, Jadel etc. They give no contributions to the overall play only to pop up from no where a score a tap in. Yet these strikers are their coach's favourites including in their NT. It was later I understood that what gave them value is their off the ball movements which meant a lot to the success of the teams. Hahahahaha!!! Saka and Martinelli spoil us? You call what dey are doing spoiling? Abeg no make me laugh What Saka and Martinelli are doing is never in any way regarded as spoiling fans. It's Just the least expected from a top club and we even need improvement from them sef. Moreover, those names you called are all strikers. Strikers of those times are judged with goals and those names(aside jadel who I don't know) are good goalscorers. Havertz is neither an arsenal striker nor a goalscorer so such comparison no fit. And even those guys sef, na still their on the ball qualities dey count for dem(Goals) It's simple, we can not be comfortable with only off the ball qualities from a player(Havertz or not). It will take us only so far. |

Spy360: 😂😂😂
You talk as if anyone has said he should be MOTM.
I recall during the UCL finals against Barcelona. Wenger opted to start a relatively unknown Fabregas in midfield and instead of Flamini who had be impressive that season.
If you watched that match, Fabregas had few touches but his off the ball movements were top notched. This helped us control the midfield until the pipe bursted because of Almunia.
Havertz like Fabregas is a player that does one touch passing. It's hard to notice if you are not focused on him.
I implore you to focus on him and give us a report this weekend.
COYG👍🏽 Lol, I no dey expect am to give me man of the match performances oo. I just need him to turn up more, be more active in on the ball duties and be more daring and ambitious. I dey always focus on am but I'll officially focus on him this weekend again. |

Trossard came Jan, we saw how his off the ball and how it helped others excelled. Nobody needed analytical coach to tell us wetin dey plain. Xhaka did same thing in midfield last season. Nobody needed analytical coach to help us explain it. Our Captain Odegaard last season was the king of off the ball move and duties. We no need go coaching school to know wetin e mean. mostob: Against Crystal Palace, we were under immense pressure until the second goal. The Leceister City game was a bit opened but the fact that we conceded 2 goals said it all. However, my point is that we started building momentum from the second or third game. Same thing can still happen so why worrying? Only against Crystal palace we didn't dominate them and that's understandable seeing that it's the first match. From the 2nd match we dominated almost everyone from there. Even the first goal that we conceded against Leicester was an unforced error own goal and not because of poor defence. Moreover, the main reason why I'm worrying is the structure. Even the games against Villa and Fulham were we scored dying minutes goals, we dominated them and created loads of chances from beginning till the end. All that is lacking this season all because of the structure and Havertz |

Spy360: According to reports, he won the most duels in both our games this season. It's a contribution. Then add that to his role of creating chances by dragging off opposition and also helping the press by shadow marking the two opposite pivots.
These type of off the ball contributions are usually not seen. Only the manager sees it because that's what he asked him to do. When we start seeing abstract/spiritual contribution like shadow marking two opposite pivot(without actual pressing or winning balls), making shadow runs without actually being at the end of things and bla bla bla, know say na anyhow straws- catching be this. Visible contributions across all our players last season made us did what we did. When we start holding to invisible things like this, know say water don pass garri. |

BlueRayDick: @ Jodera , I didn’t want to quote all of ur post since it’s long .
Like u said it’s just two games we’ve played this season , so we can say it’s too early to judge .
But personally I think it’s the Havertz deal that scattered the whole team cohesion and how we play this year compared to last season .
The stupid urge for Arteta to play Havertz , Rice and Partey at the same time while Odegaard already has a place in AM role is what is making Arteta relagate Partey to RB and it makes no sense from we fans’ point of view .
We all know Rice can play that Xhaka role , Partey can play Partey role and Odegaard can play Odegaard role. But Arteta still wants Havertz on the pitch despite not offering much threat upfront when u already have Saka and Martinelli who are not benchable. The other option would be to bench Nketiah and play Havertz as striker but it appears even Arteta is himself enough to know we won’t score 1/2 goals self if we do that
Make I no lie u ehn, I’m silently hoping Havertz gets a knock in training , miss two straight games and let’s see Rice, Partey and Odegaard in midfield while every other person plays their preferred role . I’m sure Arteta will not be foolish enough to go back once Havertz is back from his knock . Seeing Havertz lineup just dey taya me. You just dey my mind, I just dey hope make him get injury. But the issue be say how him wan take get am when no dey put body for ball If to say na our only option sef, e for somehow dey understandable but better options full yapa |

Who noticed that;
1. We hardly dominate teams this season compared to most of last season? 2. We hardly create chance this season compared to most of last season ? 3. We are always under pressure this season compared to last season?
I know it's just two games but God knows that right from the last two games of last season (when we started using Partey as FB) I was against this structure and formation.
Now this season it seems we're a step back from last Season as we can't dominate teams well and even can't create multiple chance again. Something we did with ease last season
I don't like Havertz and the worst part is that he's even making it easy for me not to like him. He's not daring at all, always passing back and worst part is that he doesn't press.
Because of this stupid formation, we're not playing Partey to his full strength thereby not making us dominant in midfield as much as we would love. Because of this stupid formation, we're accommodating a liability called Havertz who I'm even struggling to see his worth in this team. His attack, zero. His defence, zero. His Midfield play, Mid-zero. Even Rice that was behind him even played more forward passes, chances created near the Opposition box more than him and attacked the half spaces for ball progression more than him.
This stupid formation is relegating one of our best defenders in Gabriel, thereby breaking the Saliba-Gab combo that made us excelled last season just because a certain Liability must start in midfield.
A back 4 of last season with a Midfield of Partey(DM), Rice and Odegaard would dominate teams just as we did last season.
Tbh, I've not been impressed this season and I just hope it won't backfire against us in a spectacular fashion and I just hope Arteta does away with this madness before it becomes too late.
Good defensive display to secure the win Glad we got the 3points.
COYG!! |
