Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno, Mount, Amrabat and Fred/Tom are good enough. The only midfield that have better options in EPL is Man City. Lol.... You must really be a proud guy in real life. |

If after 3 to 5 matches and Havertz is not gelling, I hope Arteta will do the needful because no excuse the season o Hopefully, me too. I just hope he'll be less stubborn and rotate more. I'm just looking towards our Barca match, I feel that's where we'll see our team to start against Man City and probably the league |

If he does, nobody go ask pimm. Na the sense person like Guardiola dey use. If he benches Havertz and uses ESR or Trossard consistently while Havertz play from bench and he later wins any major trophy, people won't mind how much Havertz was gotten for. The sad thing is that, he has set the bar so high with that Havertz transfer and he must deliver something tangible (whether with him or without) |

The good thing is that he have people who can step up in that role if Havertz Fvcks up(ESR and Trossard). If that happens, then the quicker he benches him, the better for us all. Spy360: Uncle if you read that my post very well you will denote that when I said better, I meant in terms of talents or skill not performance. I even made mention of his poor performance in Chelsea as not being the value placed on him.
Let me repeat for doubt sake, that Havertz is a more talented individual than ESR. ESR may perform better but that's another argument entirely.
By the way, the reason I said I preferred ESR in the no 8 LAM has nothing to do with his performance. Take note. Anyone who followed that our conversation would clearly read what you meant. I mean, Your post, typed with your own hands was straight forward. No need turning Amala. BlueRayDick: Once upon a time, Wenger populated our team with young homegrown talents and some sections of the fans loathed him for that. Even when the boys make it to cup finals and Wenger is expected to field more experienced players, baba will stubbornly stick to the youngings
Now present day Arsenal is populated with senior players and less opportunity for the youngings; a section of the fans are unhappy with his decision. That particular section of the fans have even drawn their dagger and ready to feast on his flesh should he fail to win major trophies with the senior players he's parading week after week.
See the irony of life.
I guess a mix of both the senior players and the youngings is what most people consider ideal, but how we for do? This is exactly what everyone is saying or meant. Wenger overdid his to the detriment of team's success (and most of them still betrayed him when they come on age sef). The best bet is to mix the youngies with the experienced stars. |

Moreso, I think signings like this, Trusty, Marquinhos and the one done earlier in the window are for investment. I doubt the bolded. There's no better way the team is setup up properly than now. I was among those who was in favour of Arteta not giving the youth chance first because the team isn't properly set up then. I thought once everything is set, he'll look their way but Omorr... And if you talk about investment, I thought buying player who's better than your academy is investment. I don't get the idea of us buying youths that's not even as talented as our youth team. Spy360: I said Havertz is more talented but I didn't say he is better than ESR. In fact I will be surprised if I said so especially in that position.
Actually my choice is ESR is basically because he is right footed and so creates a balance with Odegaard (left footed) on the right AM and a counter balance with Martinelli on the LW (they can easily alternate).
Where I actually thought Havertz will play is more as a sub for Saka (mainly) and also accross the attacking third. This was your first post when you quoted me when I voiced my opinion against Havertz signing. Read carefully your bolded Spy360: Havertz is not a striker. We already have strikers - Jesus, Nketiah and Balogun.
Havertz will either play alongside Odegaard or as a backup for him. Good signing for me This was my reply to you. Emphasis on the bolded. Jodera: 65m for backup? E be like say we don get sheikh Zayed
Is Havertz even better than ESR in midfield abi new signing syndrome dey shack you? Then this is you confirming to that my previous post that Havertz is Indeed better than ESR in that Midfield. Spy360: Havertz is better than ESR.
That's not saying that ESR can't be better. The value placed on Havertz is his talent not necessarily his performance with Chelsea. He was badly managed at Chelsea. We even argued this your opinion on and on but I'll stop here. In one of your posts also, you said you'll not be happy if he played as a striker Isn't it surprising you're now claiming otherwise? I no wan drag you but make you just try deh stay one place make we know your stand, so that we fit accord you your W accordingly and if there's an L, we fit give you accordingly. This your double takes fit confuse thunder. Same thing you did with Balogun and Zinny. I no want the one wey if Havertz shines for Midfield, you go wan dey look for W from us |

Spy360: You are right. That's why I said it can only work well against smaller teams. Ordinarily I will prefer Rice or ESR there Even if we go with Havettz our back three must be up and doing Lol, I remembered when I said ESR should play that place reason why we shouldn't buy Havertz but you said Havertz is more talented and better there than ESR. Spy360: It can work if we have a very good inverted fullback.
Lets say it's Zinchenko. During attacking phase, Zinny moves into the midfield and partners Rice while Havertz moves into the no 8 position. This will work well against lower teams, or defensive minded teams.
Any team with mind to attack will catch us in defense. So unless the likes of Gabriel and Saliba really up their game, we are good to go. So how many teams do you think won't attack us? Maybe you're thinking we're the almighty Barca under pep's regime Moreover, you're just thinking about it on the offensive aspect. What about the defensive aspects which is also as important? You think that won't play a role in how teams will tend to attack us if they see Havertz? As Obal.gwe and Blueray said, it's hard to see how Havertz fits into that Midfield no matter how much we want to spin it. Fingers crossed sha, EPL opener no far again. |

Shegzdave: They better not sell Partey, that Rice isn’t for for that DM but he can play there in less competitive games sha, Partey is Midfield maestro, Rice should be deployed to that CM role and let Harvertz fight for his place upfront.
Havertz being a lazy play will make the workload of other midfielders much, those saying he has the technicality, I’m yet to see any sha .
A Midfield trio of Partey(DM), Rice(CM), and Ordegaard(AM) is going to cook. Partey, Rice and Odegaard ought to be our standard Midfield cos I see Rice as an upgrade to Xhaka. But you see that Havertz matter, I still dey pray make him disappoint me cos the only technicality wey I dey see from am na just ball control |

Even utd with Mount and Fernandez is a recipe for defensively weak midfield. I don talk am for here taya. I've always said it that there's a big reason Havertz was pushed away from Midfield to CF and that's because he's a big liability there. This is me who have personally watched Havertz game for over 2 years in Chelsea shirt. People will think it's because he wasn't given chance in midfield that's why he flopped not knowing it's that Midfield gan gan he flopped sef. The worst mistake Arteta will ever be making is to make Rice, Havertz and Odegaard as our standard Midfield trio. We go too collect |

Shegzdave: Can We all accept Partey is a Key Player to our Midfield??
Rice shouldn’t play that DM again, he is better player as CM Lol, it's just one match so we shouldn't use that to conclude on Rice at all. I still believe he can play DM when necessary. What I'm just against how the media are pinning on him to replace Partey and even going as far as to spin the narratives so that Partey will be sold. I just hope what Arteta said about Partey is the truth sha cos we can't afford anything otherwise Rice, Havertz, Odegaard Midfield combo would hardly work and it's because of Havertz. I'll even go as far as saying it'll be very very difficult for Partey, Havertz Odegaard Midfield to work |

I no dey rate Preseason game sha but I like as dem pummel our Midfield ystdy.
The media have been forcing this Rice-Havertz-Odegaard combo on us that one will think Rice is an upgrade to Partey and that Havertz would suddenly improve on his off the ball duties (a very key ingredient to our Midfield play).
Thank goodness for this preseason against Man u and hopefully we'll meet other big teams who will have to show us What we need to know before season starts. |
