You don’t seem to understand me.

Being thin doesn’t mean just having bodies there. It’s about how many quality players they have there.

If you pick a first XI in the league, how many of those players will get into that squad?

How many of them will get into team B?

The only top midfielder Chelsea has is Kante. And he’s being plagued with injuries.

They are thin in midfield.

The first choice wingbacks are okayish- James and Chilwell. The rest have huge defensive frailties.

And thank God they have a coach that uses a system which masks those weaknesses.
We all know consistency is quality. I wouldn't want Gabriel Jesus as a top nine in my team, neither will you(I'm sure). That a team is consistent is what made them quality and that's on the coach
You say kante is the only midfielder in Chelsea team and that's because he is the only one dropping consistent displays, but if you delve deeply, kovacic was also giving that in the team, jorginho even tho he's like a weak link is still bringing ok displays. So that's on the coach. If you agree that tuchel is playing to his players strength and minimizing their weakness, same as Pep why then don't you think they deserve credit for making big their squad and also making them quality.

If tomorrow you people start consistently using Vdb, matic, bailey, lingard and all alongside your first 11, you'll find out that you have quality and depth as that of man city. Na so e be. I remember when zichenko and delph(midfielders) are playing full back position all the way to carrying league. People still call them quality depth. Today, nobody dey send delph for Everton grin

Na consistency be quality baba

Chelsea is not even a good example of a team with good squad depth.

A good squad depth means more than enough quality players for a position.

Chelsea is thin in midfield. Very thin.

And their players aren’t of a higher quality than Pep’s.

I’m not saying Pep is terrible. He’s quite good. What I’m saying is that his quality squad papers over the cracks for him. A lot.

We all saw what happened in his first season when he was yet to get quality players in the position that matters most to him.
Lol, so kovacic, kante, jorginho, Barkley, RLC that's is just jostling for 2 positions is what you call thing. Let's check their wingbacks, Chillwell and Reece James in one position, and Alonso, Azpi in the other position is what you'll call thin? You're forgetting that Hudson odoi even play wing back on most occasions too.

I don't want to even talk about their front line that is highly rotated when all are fit with only Mount the untouchable there.

Even tho they might not be same quality with man city, but they're all quality. And one thing with league is that you don't necessarily have to beat man city to win the league and Chelsea where doing that quite well till injury struck both their first 11 and even the rotated players

Jodera I for reply you better but I’m busy.

What you don’t realize is that a coach doesn’t determine his squad depth.

Sure, he can play them more often- but at what cost? Losing 3 games? Drawing 8 matches?

The truth is this:

The better your options, the more comfortable you’ll be at rotation.

City is the most rotated squad in the EPL. And that’s because the squad is filled with quality in every position - much more than any other team in the league.

Pep has an array of fantastic players to suit the style he loves to play. He depends heavily on wingers and AMs for his game plan to work. And he’s got loads of quality players in those positions.

Now, do other coaches have the same luxury? Do they have an array of quality players that fit into their game plan?

The answer is no.
While I'll be waiting for your better reply, let me answer this bolded.

You think other coaches don't have the same quality or is it that they don't trust the bench the way they trust their first 11? See tuchel is even highly rotating this season and Chelsea fans where all happy for the squad depth they had, all because tuchel made the depth active by trusting his bench and always rotating. If not for severe injury crises, they would have been better than they are. I don't want to imagine such high injuries to Liverpool, especially to star players at a very long duration. It's a different ball game winning one or two games with thin squad compared to playing with such a squad at a long duration. See Tsimikas, a very very good Lb, but how many game time is he seeing? If he's in man city and he's been rotated with their left back, we'll all be here reading how pep has good two quality and luxury Left backs in we'll all shout squad depth again grin

The day other coaches will trust all their players the way tuchel and pep does is the day we'll hear less noise about pep squad depth. Until then, let's give credit to whom credit is due

All these debates and opinions around here is very interesting to see and read.

Lemme drop my own.

1. For Auba to be stripped off his captaincy and he's not caused a rancour about it (yet), maybe they might have probably told him before that any disciplinary issue will see the armband taken off from him.

2. For those saying the club would have kept it on low, I don't think that will be possible. Remember this is arsenal captain we're talking about, and such thing can't be kept under the carpet. The best answer was what was given (disciplinary breach). No more no less.
Remember even Wenger didn't sweep under the carpet gallas issue then(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

3. As for the captainship, I'm never in support of giving odegaard and stripping lacazette off it. Why don't lacazette just see out this season. Maybe this cabal ish someone raised is true and maybe Arteta is trying to avoid that seeing how close laca and auba is. But to me, it isn't right one bit.

4.. Arteta and the board took a bold decision and no matter how we wanna look at it, they have a logical reason to do such which makes it right and it's not as if they're witch hunting auba. We should look at the message critically and not messenger.
For those saying if auba had been banging goals this season, Arteta wouldn't have done such. Well it'll will interest you to know that when auba was benched against Tottenham, he was in good form scoring 9 goals in the last 12games before Tottenham match. In fact, most of us here where surprised that day seeing auba on the bench and just wished laca luck after hearing the reason.
If Arteta can do it then, why then do we think he can't do it now?

Well, these are just the few points of mine

If they tell most coaches to coach man city, I bet you, most of this regular players won't see the kinda game time they're seeing.
Maybe foden will be benched for better for worse, Bernardo no go dey see match like dat, sterling go dey play 90min no matter how trashy he plays. Then immediately one or two get injury and they tell bench person like maybe gundogan to replace him, as he start giving inconsistent displays, we'll start hearing how finished gundogan is and that he should be sold.

And then, all the cycle repeats grin

All these talks are unnecessary.

Your starting XI doesn’t determine if you’ll win the league or not, your squad depth does.

And City has that boku boku.

Last season VVD got injured and Liverpool started fighting for top 4.

If Salah gets injured now, e don be for them again.

You cannot say the same for City.

KDB has been injured all season but it hasn’t affected Pep. Now that he’s back, it’s almost certain that they’ll win the league again.

Cancelo missed the last game through suspension and Zinchenko easily slotted in.

No matter how you look at it, squad depth is the koko.

The best way forward is to compare quality OPTIONS for both managers. When you do this your your eyes shall be opened.

Pep guardiola is good no doubt, but it will be naive to put his success down to his supposed brilliance and ignore the array of talented players he has at his disposal.
All of you will talk about squad depth as if it's not guardiola that's making that depth active. In the midfield, the only untouchable was kdb wen fit, the rest from gundogan to rodri(aside the season) to Bernardo was mostly rotated even wen fit. His back 4 was mostly rotated pre Diaz aside the keeper. Let's don't even talk how highly rotated the front line is. And then you will think if one person get injury, it'll affect the team?

Let's take your man u as case study, you have vdb who is seeing 20min per match (4times a season), you have lingard who can do a job or two while coming on, but ole no go gree, matic nko, baily? Tuanzebe? . All your first 11 must be first 11 no matter how trashy they play. Liverpool nko, come rain come shine FSM trio must start(prior jota arrival), the back 4 must start. In fact even if the match no too necessary, back 5 and front three must start. In midfield, fabinho must start. That's just only 2 players been rotated o.

After all these, all of you will now be saying city have squad depth pass everybody and that he's a fraud

Aside his issue with xhaka and Pepe brouhaha then and Willian favoritism, I think Arteta has been fair all these while.

Exactly what about the tattoo case
Arteta is a big suspect
No, I'm actually talking about Auba here and not Arteta.

Look at it this way

At least there's evidence that he did tattoo. So what if he came back on Thurs morning with the tattoo in his body(abi hand) after saying he wants to visit his mother. Isn't that two offences he committed and not one pardonable offence( not keeping to his returning agreement and still getting a tattoo instead of being with your mother). In fact, if they want to take it far, they might even say he didn't even visit his mom at all, that he's just looking for excuse to do his tattoo stuff.

That tattoo spoilt everything to be honest, and if he gave the excuse about visiting his Mom then still got that tattoo, then that's even more grievous and if that's the case you shouldn't blame Arteta for being hypocritical.

Aubameyang took permission to pick his mother from France and was expected to be in UK by Wednesday evening.
