We have options we can test. But I expect Okoye to get better and better.
Kog45:
Sure we are getting their but eagles need a very good keeper if truly we want to compete with the rest of the world
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:24am On Jan 20, 2022
I agree sir. Those additions will make things sweeter.
Kog45:
Oga Joe,Ejuke and Chuckwueze dey fall my hand o....imagine I rated Ejuke than Simon but I was wronged...I always see Chuckwueze as unplayable player in GWG but so far am not impressed......the duo just need up their games cos we have Dennis,Lookman and Kalu waiting after Afcon
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:24pm On Jan 19, 2022
All round contribution, I give it to Ejuke.I believe Chuks is a better player. Just rating their performances so far in this AFCON.

forgiveness:
Ejuke just Dey dribble himself. Yes! Chuks has not been impressive but he created chances with his passes.

Chuks is still a better player than Ejuke.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:20pm On Jan 19, 2022
My friend these so called Minnows have given a good account of themselves even in terms of scoring

codemaniacs:
Super Eagles have not played against a strong team especially a team with a strong attack..

It's normal to play well against teams like sudan, equatorial guinea, an underperforming Egypt..

Eguavoen major advantage for now is the fact that he is playing attacking football if Super Eagles concedes first and changes to a defensive pattern then SE will be in trouble.

Hopefully eguavoen doesn't change his attacking game.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:19pm On Jan 19, 2022
Now I can only imagine how Eguavoen would have used Osimhen
Curtisaxel10:
And this same Rohr once converted Samuel Kalu (another potential X-factor killer winger) into a wingback! The White Onigbinde's fetish for defensive football led him into destroying our brightest attacking talent while spouting his "we don't have specially gifted players" line to whoever cared to listen.

May the gods forgive me for once believing in this Arch-Carpenter!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:18pm On Jan 19, 2022
We play like we are hungry. That should be the spirit regardless of who we meet.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:16pm On Jan 19, 2022
A deadly striker is the missing link. He has been decent IMO

Danielnino00:
About Jibola Adebola...
Truth be told, he did well.. His passing and set piece were on point... He could have had an assist from that beautiful ball to Sadiq...His main problem was his work rate off the ball... I think going forward, Eguavon shouldn't bring him on for games that are too physical...But when we need somebody to stabilize the midfield, he's definitely the man for the job..

As for Sadiq, the goal won't take off the fact that he was poor today..he's been poor all tournament... Seriously,he has disappointed those of us that clamoured for his call up..The knockout stage is serious business...he should remain on the bench .I'll prefer Olayinka in his place...
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:15pm On Jan 19, 2022
In this tournament, I disagree. Ejuke has a better work rate. He needs to improve in decision making. Chuks on his part never start yet, but may explode as we progress.

forgiveness:
Chuks is better.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:12pm On Jan 19, 2022
I must say the influence of Nwakali would have been better felt if we had deadlier strikers. Let me go watch the movie, “When Osimhen returns”

komekn:
You are right about the through ball to Sadiq to and the other pass. But that's about it

A Midfielder job is very simple when you have the ball you attack when you don't have the ball you defend.

Under these key performance indicators he was very poor .

Work rate - very very poor.
Backtracking - very poor
Tackles - very poor
Blocks - very poor
Closing down space - oor
Interception- poor
Passing - below average
Physicality - very poor

This is where he fails woefully.

If not for Ndidi and Ajayi covering for him he was essentially a liability in midfield.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:07pm On Jan 19, 2022
Besides the wins, we have played well. I give it to Eguavoen.

12large1:
It’s not about how you start, but how you finish. If Eguavoen doesn’t reach the finals or win this tournament, it will be considered as bad

I am not comfortable about the idea of resting most of the starters. I hope Eguavoen’s plan is to bring them on later in the game. Our starters need more games to really gel before the knock out stages.
He may not see this game as a very good test for the lads even in a resounding win.
Well, we’ll see i how they can pull a good win.

Enroute the final we beat them at the last edition. Regardless of whether it happens through the back door Cameroon must fall.

Mujtahida:
Afcon 2000 - 22 years and the wound still hurts even though the pain has been staunched by the fact that in recent meetings with Cameroun, we come tops but we'll finally have closure if we beat Cameroun either enroute the final or at the final.

I think we should focus on the teams that are still here. Let the dead bury the dead.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:10am On Jan 19, 2022
There is a reason why Chukwueze is being subbed out early despite scoring. Also Ejuke did not see minutes against Sudan.
Eguavoen is on point. our wingers are getting the message. Expect them to improve.

samtol4:
well said. Comoros counter-attack is superb. Ejuke and Chukueze need to watch this match and understand counter attack is to score not show skills
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:08am On Jan 19, 2022
Like I said before. We have been humbled severally by minnows. It won't happen again, under Eguavoen. Other big teams are being served their humble pie in the wrong moment -- helps our chances. I expect our strikers to start to click. Expect goals. Don't rule out Sadiq yet

Stormtrooper11:
Seems the Super Eagles are the only team in the AFCON tournament with no loss or draw. Hope we keep that form wink
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:04am On Jan 19, 2022
At this stage, I will say the hosts remain the team to beat. And I foresee an upset against them.
And that leaves us to one team to lift the cup. It is not going to a North-African team.
Your guess is as good as mine -- Nigeria. Our team is not built around any specific player.
We will produce goals from different routes going forward.

We have got several reality checks from supposedly small teams before this tourney. I see no “small” team surprising us. They will do the Lord’s work with the likes of Algeria, and we will handle them mercilessly
