Nerdie, the fact say we get disagreement mean say we dey authentic to ourselves. I am a firm believer that if people for the same clique dey true to themselves dem go disagree for certain things every now and then. So thanks for being your authentic self. This is not a jab on anyone oh. As regards the AFCON, as it draws nearer me I don catch a different variant of this flu which calls for extra extra caution, considering the drama leading to this AFCON and the uncertainties. But I think it only makes it more exciting. Seeing new names is like a breath of fresh air. I am just looking forward to Nigeria playing better. No high expectations for now.. toes crossed! haha.. pie charts and graph, another moniker don take that baton. Even my formation builder sef, dem no only take d baton but they run with am. I dey find another fresh one to bring come. Happy New Year bro! TheSuperNerd: The Man, Joebie... Happy New Year My Good man. Glad to see you here too. We have had our disagreements and would still have more but as you can see... Adults move pass things and leave it for kids. Good to see you, Good Sir.
And as usual, I trust you will be your ever cautious self on our expectations ahead of the Afcon and guess what? I wasn't disappointed. But in truth, your approach is best right now.
I mean, in the light of many happenings, changes to our lists due to player withdrawals and slow start to preparations. Caution is the way to go mixing it with a part of the feel of excitement in the air.
Have a splendid 2022, Joe. Would love to see your pie charts and bar charts after our group games is done and dusted. |

Well knowing they won't be at the WC they will be all out in this one.. I expect them to go far. However, how they approach their match against Algeria will determine if they have that fire in them. chrisooblog: Would have agreed with you ordinarily but I think they lack character. Losing out to Cameroon for the WC qualifiers really diminished them in my eye. |

Nerdie.. how things na? TheSuperNerd: Let's not think too far ahead of ourselves. My advice.
Be like Joebie... take it one game at a time in the group stage then we can begin assessing our chances from the first KO round.
The team has fine potentials but let's mix excitement with a little bit of caution.
And yes, thanks so much Sir Soetan. I appreciate the welcome. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO AND TO EVERYONE JUST WALKING INTO THE THREAD AND SEEING I'M BACK. Great to see y'all. |

Football career is short. As soon as you dey near 30 u need to be planning for retirement. Arab money no bad at all. komekn: You are right he has left Swansea and is collecting I bet crazy money in Quatar.
He must be greedy ,when he was at Swansea in the Championship he was on £83k a week . And he refused to take pay cut renew his contract and or go to some EPL clubs that wanted him but not on £83k a week.
He is 32 ( actually real age) so he still has a few good years of football left. |

I think they are both on there.. one is listed as a midfielder. modified Dede as a winger rather komekn: I expected to see the other Ayew brother Andre.
Andre is probably thier best AM and he is true consistent quality, can't understand his exclusion. |

read the full interview. in the first place when the NFF is going for a technical director or any role they want to fill for that matter what are they trying to achieve? fabyom: That should be the questions NFF should have asked him not otherwise. To provide solutions to those questions is part of his job. He should just tell us that the pay wasn't up to what he is getting now. He should stop capping! |

'But I’ve seen the process of how England are transforming and I think in the future they’re going to do great stuff. I feel like it was right for me to choose England.
Several months after he said this England got to the final of the Euros.
I no blame any foreign born when turn down Nigeria. |

Seyi Olofinjana, speaking to BBC, on why he turned down the NFF Technical Director role.
"It was difficult, but at the same time, easy,"
"I think the federation made it a little bit easier for me to make that judgement call. There were certain questions I asked of the federation that they weren't able to answer.
"What needs doing? Where do they think we are as a nation? Where do we need to get to? How quickly do we need to get to those places?
"I didn't get answers to those questions and that is the day-to-day job for me. If there's no clarity, there's no going forward.
"Do I regret saying no? Absolutely not. Is there a part of me that thinks it could be a good opportunity for me to go and put myself in the history books and try to help my people? Absolutely! I'm still looking for that opportunity
"I'll continue to knock on the door. Any day. I don't know the day. I'm Nigerian. I can't change that." |

He has been consistent in what in the Championiship? Dribbles? End product wise he was not better than Olise last season. Astrid4: He has not earn wetin?? Why una dey analyse football like Emmanuel Dennis had how many goals with koln last season?? Zero goals now he is the hottest prospect in the biggest league in the world (EPL) He has been consistent in the championship for the past 3 seasons he is arguably one of their best midfielders,he is on course for greater things he is just unfortunate to be in a very stupid team, he had more dribbles than danjuma last season in championship now danjuma is playing in laliga,Reading is a non ambitious team, olise was just fortunate cos of his age and of course media hype that's all. |

I no blame you nah reading wey no dey in form I blame despite all this he is still best midfielder behind John swift.he has bagged two goals already this season. |

As for me, I will assess our chances during the group games. It works for me most times. With our quality (considering our population and focus on football as a sport) a Semi-Final appearance is ALMOST always guaranteed if the coach knows what he is doing. safarigirl: Whatever level we reach in AFCON has come as a surprise for at least a decade now.
I do not recall a time of recent when we have gone for AFCON with very high confidence or when that confidence has been justified. It is always doubt.
Like I said, generally, I expect anything to happen after group stage. I also said that a team can win all their games in group stage and lose to a team that could only win one, so, minus Keshi sef, we saw what happened to Morocco in the last AFCON.
The group stage is the main thing, anything else is hit or miss more often than not |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:23pm On Dec 31, 2021 |
Eguavoen has been the technical director for the most part of Rorh's stay. He is part of the system. We can only expect few changes. komekn: Quality players are quality player's, arguement no deh, it's national team.
New Managers come in and within days the team cohesion has changed and it seems like a new team winning games that they would otherwise have lost previously.
Consider the immediate and dramatic change of fortunes at Tottenham with Manager Antonio Conte appointed 2nd November. Did he know any of the players ❓ Knowing players prior, can be a disadvantage, because you become sentimental and emotive as opposed to measured objectivity.
It's not safer to go with the mediocrity that you know than the quality that is available, because you don't know them.
That's not progress, although its how we do our things in Nigeria, PMB has appointed people he knows, look at where we are now.
That narrative may suit the various competing interests in the NFF but it's not a recipe for success but the opposite. |
