Clint02:
It was definitely Rohr.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:36pm On Jan 22, 2022
exactly!

forgiveness:
Exactly! They should not take the news from the Tunisia’s camp seriously.

As long as they are coming with 11 players, we should play them with all our might as if this is the finals.

Super Eagles should avoid early goals from them oooo because knowing they don’t have a bench, they need to score early and seat back and defend. Hopping to score us on counter when we become desperate.

We need to score early goals and then control the midfield.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:36pm On Jan 22, 2022
I promise you they are more arrogant than us.. Our players should not get involved in this.. We will do our speaking on BOTH pitches.

Beloved03:
These bredas are very confident at ghanaweb. Despite their team that is in shambles they believe they will qualify ahead of Naija. They are still relieving their past glory. grin grin grin

Eyes go clear very soon. grin grin grin

Oga I make my opinions based on what I see on the pitch. That has always been my approach.

The same Rohr I praised was the same Rohr I called out early. I judge by performance only

Danielnino00:
Oga Joe, wetin dey sup? These days you are making very bold claims o grin
Back then u used to be quite pessimistic about the super eagles.. Abi it was because of Rohr?

The news from Tunisia's camp should not be a distraction. I expect Tunisia to put in the biggest fight with a depleted squad. This game will be very mental for them. We must maintain our mental strength and approach this game like the final. One final at a time, and the cup will be in Abuja.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:28pm On Jan 22, 2022
I agree this should have been done after the AFCON. I hope our players remain focused and are not distracted especially by the news from Tunisia's camp.

forgiveness:
This is just a distraction. We should be thinking and focusing on the next game against Tunisia tomorrow.

The match against Ghana is still far away and there’s enough time to plan and talk about it.

I don’t know why CAF will bring such distraction during the course of a tournament like this.

Our players should concentrate and focus fully on the next game and don’t allow the World Cup playoffs distract them because winning this AFCON is our main goal for now.

Any news from the camp?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:26pm On Jan 22, 2022
it's not a prediction. Like I have said as long as Eguavoen and the players continue with this same spirit, Qatar here we come!
It is an objective condition hinged on on the present.

fabyom:
How can you then predict that a circumstances might occur or not?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:13pm On Jan 22, 2022
I do not want us to qualify that way.
Even if they can't fix it, let's play in two neutral venues. And we will beat them in both games.

nelszx:
The first leg may not even be played in Ghana. None of their stadium has VAR facility. Likely first leg will be at a neutral venue then return leg in Abuja.

We'll be in Qatar come March
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:11pm On Jan 22, 2022
I sense it. grin

nelszx:
How do you know this?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:59pm On Jan 22, 2022
The spirit of Super Eagles '94 is back. Now, no white man to play ojoro. Amuneke Finidi, Siasia, Oliseh, Amokachi etc liase with Eguavoen. We are back on track.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:53pm On Jan 22, 2022
it's psychological. They will be depending on a long history. We will be coming with a fresh playing philosophy and the right personnel to back it up.

PurpleHouse:
But how and why do Ghana have such a staggering record over us?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:48pm On Jan 22, 2022
We have not played Ghana in 10 years. And somehow some believe that the teams that played decades ago will have a bearing on the double header
PurpleHouse:
Vs Ghana
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:47pm On Jan 22, 2022
with all the conditions met, they will lose both games. We have been building our team for 5 years, we are just beginning to gain momentum. The momentum we will have by then will be unstoppable. Eguavoen should not change what he is doing.

drDoom3:
If Ghana want to avoid a thrashing (not even get a win, that is nigh impossible) what they have to do is:

1) Appoint a local coach that will not be influenced by their FA in player selections
2) Scout extensively in europe. Get all their eligible players together. Get Salisu, get Afena-Gyan, get Duncan, get Schlupp, get Gyasi, get Kamal Sowah. Finalize Hudson Odoi switch.
3) Kick out all the dead legs from their squad. All those home based players they carried to AFCON that couldn't kick a ball because they were not good enough, get them out.
4) Organize at least two friendlies to make the squad gel together before their games against us.

If even one out of these four conditions is not met, we will flog them mercilessly home and away.

If they are able to make all four, maybe they could draw us in Ghana but they are not beating us in Abuja.

better!
kingphilip:
I think Ghana will be home first.

From what I read previously, the non seeded countries will play at home first.

But I may be wrong sha.

either way it doesn't matter. I will like us to finish the job on their soil first.

EgusiShankly:
Play the first leg at home, we will qualify.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:37pm On Jan 22, 2022
History is written by prevailing circumstances.
So put your mind where it matters. There was no history of Comoros vs Ghana. But in one day history was made because of prevailing circumstance. Prevailing circumstances write history. not the other way round.

fabyom:
How did you come about your assumption about my judgment? I based mine on historical facts, qualities and previous games of the opponents. I was right about the Algerian team too. Yours was based on pure emotion.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:29pm On Jan 22, 2022
Our problem was not personnel but tactics. So tell me how they gonna turn that around in a couple of months.
They do not have the personnel.

Mujtahida:
Less than a month ago, Nigeria was regarded as a sputtering team so much so that we weren't even considered favorites for the Afcon. Fast forward to now and the dynamics has changed.

So who says that between now and March 24th, things cannot change for Ghana.

Still rooting for my naija sha oo.

well, even Comoros beat Ghana. C.A.R beat Nigeria.. Anything can happen in life. But we are talking purely on what we see on ground. The present reality. We could have drawn a different team and anything could have still happened. The point here is Ghana is such a weak and whack team. We are playing the team. And we will play for pride as well.

Mujtahida:
I don't believe so. Just sometimes life throws banana peels.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:58pm On Jan 22, 2022
abi n a fans go play Ghana?
Like I have said as long as Eguavoen and the players continue with the mentality we are seeing on ground, Ghana will lose both ties.

PurpleHouse:
Nobody is scared.

It is called not being too confident. Many of you here are too overly confident. And thats not good. I am a very confident person and I preach it to others to be confident. But the way I see it here is dangerous. It means under-estimating and underrating your opponents.

Doing this will make your opponents take you unawares where you least expected. Go and ask Anthony Joshua vs the fat kid who beat him mercilessly.

Always respect your opponents and STRATEGIZE your victory. Not to be overly confident.

If we STRATEGIZE well, and not depend on depth of our team alone like you're all saying here, we'll win. But if we ignore strategy and just say we have a good team, we are better, we are in form. Guess what? They will STRATEGIZE and take us unawares.

Nobody is scared. It is simply acknowledging your opponents strenght from history. And he who faiks to learn from histry, will repest the same mistake his fore fathers made.

Cheers.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:48pm On Jan 22, 2022
So you believe Ghana will stop us from going to the WC. They did that against SA through controversial means it won't happen again controversially.

Mujtahida:
For all the cruise Nigerians usually take on Ghana, I hope the god of banter is not about to deliver us into their hands cos how could we have been pooled with Ghana. I hope the gods will be kind
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:45pm On Jan 22, 2022
Yours is based purely in your affinity to Nigeria. Mine is based on what I see on ground.

fabyom:
It's quite funny that guys who were skeptical about the team are now believers. I have no doubt that we will win. There has been no time I have ever doubted this team. I just feel for my Ghanaian brothers!!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:43pm On Jan 22, 2022
both home and away is mercilessly. I do not care about the scoreline. Like I said as long as we play with the mentality I am seeing currently it's gonna be perfectly fine.

Mujtahida:
Haaaa Joebie, I can see that you have totally fallen under the spell of our current strong performance.

I do not think we would beat them mercilessly oo. I do hope we win them and qualify.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:39pm On Jan 22, 2022
IT will be cut off!
PurpleHouse:
I have followed Ghana/Nigeria match for long. And this is the reality. Nor be the over confident im seeing here. Ghana, even if its their 3rd strings team, once they hear Nigeria their prick go raise and they want to kill, or be killed.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:37pm On Jan 22, 2022
Our crop of players have been together for years. Now they are beginning to play to the right tactics. Add to that the firepower of our attacking depth will be in full presence. We will approach the game like a do-or-die affair as well. As long as Eguavoen continues with the team with this same spirit we will win BOTH ties.

modified
I have never seen Nigeria press so well in years whether ahead or not.
