connection get level na.. cry wherever you have audience lol

safarigirl:
If he cried, he must have done so to the right people. I did not see Yobo crying on Nairaland for the job, did you?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:08am On Feb 14, 2020
At least we qualified for the world cup. That's performance to some extent. If Tanzania like let them make the finest Jersey in the world and you think they will cash out like us?

safarigirl:
Nike cashed out on the last jersey sale, and most of the fans who bought the jerseys, never watched the team prior to getting the jersey.

The jersey sold its self
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:06am On Feb 14, 2020
Like Yobo did not cry for this job or at least have been working on getting the job. Let the guy express himself. That's the first step.

safarigirl:
like I said, he can try his luck the next recruitment phase.

You can't say you were never given a chance, when you never sought it to begin with.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:05am On Feb 14, 2020
you are castigating Buhari and defending Yobo. Choose one side.

safarigirl:
people go for leadership training seminars my guy, you cannot become the COO or CEO of any decent organization without proper training.

You have a defective leader, because he never got any proper training. He was just handed positions, same as the one before him.

Buhari is grossly underqualified for the position he occupies, but this is where we are.

He is not yet the coach, he is just an assistant. There are plenty of midwives in Nigeria without nursing degrees, hundreds of mechanics without engineering degrees and they fix cars well enough.

Thankfully, the role of an assistant coach is not a life and death role, like that of a medical practitioner.

Basically, football is not as important as all the professions you are comparing it to.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:04am On Feb 14, 2020
Above all, you build a brand by performance on the pitch. No matter how our jersey fine if we break fans heart, e no go sell
safarigirl:
Football is a brand my guy, just because you refuse to acknowledge the marketability of it, does not make it any less a brand.

Competitions need sponsors, and sponsors look at marketability. Everything is a business eventually, so, you need to always bring your best to it, from every angle.

Some of you are stuck in 1990-2005 football era, that is why you still have limited view of the sport. Football has gone beyond being a game for a bunch of loud, unruly, drunk men to enjoy at a bar, it has expanded to include a variety of persons, some of who care for the aesthetics, just as much as the game.

It is the same thing with most sports.

Winning is still top priority, but there is no reason why you can't look good while at it wink
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:01am On Feb 14, 2020
I can also make the argument that there are good players who attempted coaching but failed woefully, so Subzero047 deserves a chance.
safarigirl:
did yo u apply, they did not give you the job?

You have as much stake, how many caps do you have as a Nigerian international? Which trophy did you captain the team to?

When next you hear NFF is recruiting, drop your CV, I hear people still get lucky in job hunting. cheesy
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:59am On Feb 14, 2020
True talk.. at least we rep for WC.
safarigirl:
Nothing spoil at all, at least we go parade jersey, some other countries no go even get jersey to parade
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:58am On Feb 14, 2020
arrogance would always be a problem whether you have achieved a lot or not.
Let's not leave the matter at hand. You've got to have a badge and experience to earn a position like the Assistant coach of SE. Talking about branding, how is this even good for a brand called SE? cheesy At least I will understand if we lack Nigerian coaches with experience and badge. But this is not the case.
Danielnino00:
If Oliseh has achieved a lot in his managerial career, then his arrogance won't be much of a problem.. but for somebody who is still new in the business of coaching, he needs a lot of humility...
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:27am On Feb 14, 2020
no wahala.. las las dem go still go world cup parade their jerseys.. nothing spoil cheesy
safarigirl:
Lol....football is a brand. The better your team looks on and off the pitch, the easier it is to sell your brand. Some days ago, we were talking about what fine jerseys can do for the team and Nigeria, do you know how many fans Super Eagles have gotten because the players look good and are young? This team is running on 60% packaging and 40% good football cheesy

There are good-looking people that are brilliant at what they do, so, why can't we have it all? cheesy
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:27am On Feb 14, 2020
how old is that Odegbami sef abi na Oningbinde? Our elders are failing us big time.

tbaba1234:
I believe Odegbami's statements influenced the choice of Yobo.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:25am On Feb 14, 2020
Like Rorh has not drawn or lost against weak teams
jihday:
tactical ingenuity that can't beat Tanzania undecided
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:23am On Feb 14, 2020
What is even the proof that he would succeed? His defenders are so confident that he would succeed based on how they feel and nothing concrete.. It could go either way. But I wouldnt take chances especially when we need a sound assistant to Rorh.

edi287:
I am not expecting him to fail - I just want things to be done the right way.
The only way this would make sense is if Rohr personally asked for him(well acceptable at least).
This just looks like NFF listening to Odegbami in thinking that Yobo is actually good enough to coach us to a WC.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:21am On Feb 14, 2020
Turn by turn mentality. Everyone deserves a chance without earning it. grin

safarigirl:
I don't really care for what he has shown, like I said, I only care for results and as long as he has not shown me anything to prove otherwise, I cannot waste my time on negativity.

Everyone deserves a chance, no be everybody go get experience before dem get work, some people will get experience on the job, and not every experienced worker is actually good. At least, that much we have proven, with some of your listed examples.

You are already expecting him to fail, I have no expectations. I keep an open mind for now, and that is what a Super Eagles fan should do, instead of hoping the (assistant) coach fails.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:19am On Feb 14, 2020
if u be NFF chairman.. na handsome contest dem go dey do for pitch and bench

safarigirl:
Me, I'm just happy there is one less pot-bellied man, and one more baby boy on the bench, for now grin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:18am On Feb 14, 2020
I will rather have an arrogant Oliseh as a coach then Yobo who is coming to learn a trade. Rohr don talk am say he go talk to Yobo about getting his coaching license.. Interesting, we defend hiring someone without experience or badge. Me sef I go take experience over badge. But this guy has nada.
safarigirl:
they go together grin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:14am On Feb 14, 2020
The point is with Fortuna Sitaard he had to axe the more experience players and ran the team like an authoritarian. Something he couldn't do with SE without opposition. Of course you also expect that would affect the psychology of the team, an the results. His problem is more managerial than tactical. We are talking of a coach who was once named the best coach in the dutch 2nd tier. What has any of our coaches won in Europe?

jihday:
I don't understand your first line, did the NFF force players on him? Or did they tell him to start packing graduates of his brother's academy into the SE
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:06am On Feb 14, 2020
na coaching we dey talk now, not management
safarigirl:
did he not quarrel with the club as well?

Somebody that carry trouble from his village lipsrsealed
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:05pm On Feb 13, 2020
He proved it at club level where he was able to coach on his own terms, and we all know how that ended. For Nigeria, he had to be a good manager as well to perform well.

jihday:
sadly he couldn't prove it, couldn't get out of the group in Chan, we struggled to draw Tanzania away from home. I'm not sure I'll agree he's a good coach
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:35am On Feb 13, 2020
We aleady have a super manager in Rohr. We need someone who will bring something new and lacking to the technical bench.

Sentiments is written all over your post.

You are looking for Mikel who is not a player. Well we have come to this because of the young team mantra.

BascoVanVeli:
Of course he has no experience but I have proven that experience talk as BS. Even after sleeping on it I still say Joseph Yobo will be a super hit with the super eagles. This just made Rohr's job 10 times easier. Most of our players look up to Yobo, ffs he has the most caps in history. When he speaks they will listen because he can relate to all of them. If I am Iwobi I am running there to ask him questions about Everton and if I am Ajayi I want to know what to expect in the EPL from a guy who played almost a decade there. This hire doesn't only replace Imama it replaces Mikel because they now have a big brother them.

On the pitch he will improve our defenders immensely. Joseph Yobo doesn't need coaching school to tell you that you are in a wrong position as a defender or give you tricks of the trade. I personally believe he has a coaching certificate, not because I am believing that the NFF wouldn't hire someone without qualification but because I don't think Yobo is the type of person that would accept something like that without following due process. He didn't take short cuts as a player so is it now he will start
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:25am On Feb 13, 2020
It's all about setting a precedent. Else we can keep making appointments like this and citing few examples where it eventually turned out well.
TheSuperNerd:
Actually... I still see a few stuffs like this happen. But won't say more than that.

With that said... I am shocked by Yobo's appointment. And in the longest run, I prefer an Amuneke to lead the Super Eagles forward than a Yobo based on the fact Amuneke is much more qualified and would be even much more experienced beyond 2022.

But again... I dropped that Thomas example to remind us that indeed people have made it into mainstream professions without the requisite Qualifications and turned out successful. Few examples still exist today.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:21am On Feb 13, 2020
This is not what SE needs at the moment. Yobo can learn this trade elsewhere. We need meaningful addition to the technical bench. Or at least tell us he would just be a defender trainer.

Bolowolowo:
I concur. A lot of those European coaches worked out of youth academies, age grade teams and some even went through classes. Hopefully Yobo supplements his tenure with coaching enrichment opportunities and genuinely studies the game.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:16am On Feb 13, 2020
Oliseh is a very good coach. but a very bad manager.

jihday:
abi o, that's how Oliseh criticised keshi so tey even failed to congratulate him after winning Afcon. When he took over I'm sure he saw how easy the job is
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:15am On Feb 13, 2020
So Imama is the new benchmark.. make una kwantinue!
jihday:
hmmmmm. He's just an assistant, Rhor has his own assistant coach who he trust with tactical input not sure Imama contributed much too, not like that one sef get anything to contribute
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:13am On Feb 13, 2020
They are defending their position based on a lack of information as regards his coaching experience. you, what are you defending? Yobo's coaching experience will not be a secret if he has one.

BascoVanVeli:
That's what I am asking them ooo

They are only shouting this because their no experience talk fell on its face
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:11am On Feb 13, 2020
in what capacity did he work with Moyes?
TheGoodJoe:
I actually think Yobo is a poor analyst. Never heard good tactical inputs or perspectives out of the regular talks.

Either way, he worked with Moyes for a long while and must have picked some coaching ideas for him.

Not my kind of pick when it comes to style of play.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:10am On Feb 13, 2020
Finidi is actually right! take note, he said international glory. Many Nigerians, or at least most of us here want us to be champions in Africa, like doing very well at the world stage is a tall order. I personally don't think Rohr can do well in a world cup without a sound assistant. I have said this many times.

BascoVanVeli:
Sure

And what will Yobo be doing?

BascoVanVeli:
Simple. Imama and Salisu did nothing but sit down and look cute during our matches and they are now trying to make the job rocket science.

it's no surprise but what is very troubling is that Nigerians will still defend such mediocrity.

Icon79:
It’s only in Nigeria that one becomes a national team coach without any formal coaching experience! How could some begin his coaching career with the national team? And you wonder why Nigeria has remained a failed state?

Samson Siasia and Joseph Yobo, what's the similarity?

Philosopher1979:
I support it because he seems to have the charisma, leadership ability. Also, he has contacts in Europe and can easily get clubs for our local players with his connections. However, what coaching experience does he have?
This is something that needs to be considered.
He can be our new Samson Siasia and even achieve more than him if he suceeds but again his coaching experience needs to be looked into
