Update on Ejaria.
He is in London to renew his Nigerian passport, which he needs to take an EU player slot in the club (Real Oviedo) by virtue of Cotonou treaty that allows him to skip the EU player requirement in Spain.

Modified
The good news is that LaLiga clubs can still sign free agents after the transfer window closes.

*JUST IN:* Former England and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has claimed that several top European clubs backed out of signing Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen due to concerns about his character.

“I do hear on the grapevine that a reason one or two of the clubs are a little bit nervous is that he sometimes can go missing for a few days. Apparently. there’s some kind of slight question mark as to his character in that sense…”

Na for trial he dey weave magic na. He has already played 2 friendlies with them. Not signed yet

Amedino99:
If he keeps weaving his magic, he could become the seventh summer signing for the club i thought he was already signed for the club
If yes then why is this sentence there?. As if he came to train and they are weighing their options before they can accept him.

Ovie Ejaria Seizes Fresh Start at Real Oviedo
05.08.2025 03:00

In a pulsating friendly clash against Cultural, Ovie Ejaria reminded everyone why he was once tipped as the next big thing. The British midfielder, who has endured a heart-wrenching two-year hiatus plagued by injuries and personal hurdles, lit up the pitch with a performance that had fans daring to dream again. Under the watchful eye of coach Paunovic, Ejaria is clawing his way back to relevance, and a spot in the squad could be just around the corner.

Paunovic, who previously guided Ejaria during their time at Reading in England’s second tier, couldn’t hide his excitement. He raved about the midfielder’s flair in attacking zones and his velvet touch on the ball. ‘Ovie needs to be careful, but he did very well. I have no doubts about him,’ the coach declared, his words carrying the weight of belief and hope for a stunning comeback.

Ejaria's Road Back and Club's Plans
Real Oviedo is putting Ejaria through his paces at their training ground, scrutinizing every move as they weigh up whether he’s ready to reignite his career. If he keeps weaving his magic, he could become the seventh summer signing for the club. It’s a cautious dance, given his long absence from the game, but the early sparks of brilliance are impossible to ignore.

Meanwhile, Real Oviedo isn’t putting all their eggs in one basket. The club is on the hunt for fresh blood to bolster key areas of the squad, eyeing a central defender, left-back, central midfielder, right winger, and forward. Whispers from sources close to the club suggest active talks for a midfielder from Panathinaikos and a left-back from porto, as Oviedo gears up to build a fortress for the season ahead.

haha. play good football make you win na..
nobody is saying they didn't play well. But if they have to win they have to score the most at regulation time, or via penalty shoot out. The funny thing is if that match had gone to extra time, dem for collect wotowoto

Mujtahida:
Agreed but it doesn't detract from the fact that they played good football. They were always playing on the ground. Stringing passes.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 1:40pm On Aug 02, 2025
We were clearly a better team to come back that way.. And that penalty dem dey drag based on FIFA rules is not a penalty:

1. not intentional
2. natural position based on the body in the air
3. player was retrieving her hand during the contact

✅ FIFA Guidelines on Handball (Law 12):
The key criteria for a handball offense include:

Deliberate hand/arm movement toward the ball

Hand/arm makes the body "unnaturally bigger"

Hand/arm is in a position not justifiable by the player’s body movement for that specific situation

🕊️ If the Player Is in the Air:
When a player is jumping or airborne (e.g., contesting a header, making a save, or falling):

"Natural position" is judged relative to the player's body movement.

Arms may be out for balance or protection—this can still be natural.

⚖️ A hand/arm may be considered in a natural position if:
The player is jumping, and their arms are raised in a way consistent with maintaining balance.

The arm is in a position that’s expected in that athletic movement (e.g., a leaping header).

❌ A hand/arm is likely considered unnatural if:
It is away from the body, above shoulder height, or in a position not needed for balance/motion.

The player’s arm makes the body bigger, giving an unfair advantage (e.g., blocking a shot).

📌 Practical Example:
A defender jumps to head the ball and their arm is raised slightly to the side:
👉 Likely natural — no handball.

Same defender jumps, but their arm is outstretched above head or sideways and the ball hits it:
👉 Unnatural — likely

Mujtahida:
Sure. You'd agree that they played good football in that final. It could have gone either way. Happy we won. But I'd be happy to let them chew on the kolanut small.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:38pm On Aug 02, 2025
you still have to win on the pitch by merit.

Mujtahida:
I understand the angst against them but consider that they will be hosting U-17 in September, then Afcon in December, then WAFCON next year. They should have something to show for all these hostings

Ovi Ejaria is looking for his place at Real Oviedo
The English midfielder made a strong debut against Villarreal after several weeks on trial under Paunovic

Ovi Ejaria needed little to attract attention. The English midfielder, on trial with Real Oviedo for several weeks, made a convincing debut in the centenary triangular against Villarreal. Wearing the number 31 jersey and replacing Alberto Reina, he displayed his talent in the minutes he played.

It wasn't just any appearance. Veljko Paunovic knows Ejaria well: they played together at Reading in the English second division, where the player performed at the best level of his career. Under the Serbian manager, Ejaria became a key player, earning minutes, scoring goals, and assisting in a team that once fought for promotion to the Premier League.

That team was known for its commitment to technical quality, and Ejaria fit the bill like a glove. A right-footed midfielder with a good touch, elegant in his movements, and with that pause characteristic of different players, he was a regular starter in a system that emphasized his style of play. Paunovic knew how to handle it then, and now he wants to get it back.

At the Tartiere, his performance against Villarreal left a good impression. He was active, with judicious movement, and a calmness on the ball that didn't go unnoticed.

His contract situation isn't finalized, but his performance could start to make him a favorite. Preseason still lies ahead, but Ejaria has started to speak on the pitch.

Ajibade won quite a number of playr of the match. She led this team gallantly. Lets give it to her.

Napoleon55:
Congrats to Rasheedat Ajibade,
but why is that she won the player of the tournament ahead of Esther with just 3 or 4 goals contributions?
For those who watched all our matches,is there justifications for that, who was more deserving for it?

I was talking to my friend while watching Nigeria trail Morocco in the first half, and I was telling him although we are losing, watching these girls in this tournament, I've never seen the Super Falcons this good under any coach. As a matter of fact, in this tournament, Esther Okoronkwo, I don't know, I'm not even talking about club football as far as Super Falcons is concerned, I've never seen, Oshoala play as good as her. Is it just me?
