When u cannot find the right combination based on the players available, you are chasing foreign borns right left and center. No be confusion e go be? Anyways let's secure them for the future because I don't see them helping us qualify for the WC
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:00pm On Apr 08, 2025
this is what i'm not understanding. the context of this thread should always be SE. We celebrate club performances with hopes that it translates to country.

Kog45:
We have seen both in eagles and it's absurd talking about Okoye in Chippa and Nwabali in Udinese.......

komekn gave them bitter leaf soup

AndSunGorilla:
The food they ate. Too much starch na why Ekong could not carry his leg and kick out the ball that Zim scored. Same with Osayi, he no fit run again, too much Fufu.

both can exist.
some players don't come with the same passion

but passion without the right player combinations and tactics is dead.
do4luv14:
Am seeing this as the players not the Coach,
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:01pm On Mar 30, 2025
yea I've always had this opinion, that their club performance should culminate in their SE performance. if the coach is the problem then let's focus on the coach matter.

do4luv14:
No dey report this super chickens here again bikoe
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:33pm On Mar 30, 2025
you people should stop drawing formations oh.

joelsteron:
Chelle should try this in friendly

GK: Stanley Nwabali

DEF: Bruno Onyemaechi, Igoh Ogbu, Jordan Torunarigha, Ola Aina

MID: Moses Simon, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Samuel Chukwueze

FWD: Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:30pm On Mar 30, 2025
we have an NFF technical director that should know this. While you want to go for a coach that has this style dominant in thier resume, you also want one that still has some level of dynamism in his approach, that will not only sustain what we have been calling for since Rohr era (3-5-2) but build on it based on new players profile that become available.

Our problem is continuity and NFF should get the knocks. They choose the coach, if the coach fails, they fail because they should have a firm knowledge about who we are as a country how we have that played, and how we want to play. Those are the things to consider when choosing a coach. Chelle seems foreign to 3-5-2. I think he may have started more cautiously and later transition to his style as the right profiles become available, if they aren't already.

do4luv14:
Abandoning our defensive shape in a 352, for a diamond formation of 442 had never and will never suit us, unless we have a Ramos, Buffon and the likes in our back four,

That 442 had been more curses than blessings
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:38pm On Mar 28, 2025
we need to stop drawing formations oh..
I hope Chelle is able to perfect something during that 4 nation tourney in June.

yinkeys:
Nothing is impossible
Rwanda did it
Mali with this coach did it
Start front 3
Lookman Osimhen Uche in a 3-4-3 formation
Let’s see if their father will not concede
We have better & more athletic forwards
Ejuke, Simon, Tella, Chukwueze, Orban, Dele Bashiru for reserves
South Africa will concede, forget that thing
If you watched Morocco v Belgium in the last World Cup, you’d know anything is possible if we field players on merit & with the right tactics
It’s 100% possible
We beat Ivory Coast first leg on their turf
We just have to believe provided the coach, players & NFF make no silly mistake
They need to beat Rwanda at home too
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:11pm On Mar 28, 2025
E go hard us to beat South Africa. It's gonna be another draw. That team is a TEAM. no talents but as a TEAM, they are solid and have been consistent.

yinkeys:
If we surprise the South Africans by playing 3-4-3 we stand a chance against them on their turf & we would not concede
They would be shocked that we switched formation
3-4-3 has been saving our defense
It hides our flaws
Especially with Onyeka in the team
I hope they invite Uche too, players that can create goals by themselves because we do not have team cohesion like the South Africans do
Arokodare & Boniface are not those types of players to force gameplay
I wish Orban was in form
I don’t know the 2nd or 3rd strikers that would be invited next, but the coach has to be very selective about it. We need fighters that can dictate the tune of the game or force gameplay not necessarily players who operate in a working team structure
My opinion
They can still qualify if NFF release a merit list & get everything done properly
Invite take the bull by the horn type of players & end that corruption list
We really need our best legs
I hear FIFA will still hammer South Africa for fielding an ineligible player even though Lesotho withdrew their complaints
Lesotho may be penalized too for corruption issues for doing that lol
Still a rumour though
Chelle doesn’t know most of our players & their abilities
I think NFF needs to regularly advise the coach on the best players for each position
Fielding Lookman in the wrong operating position
Not giving Onyemaechi game time
Aina is a better RB than LB
Chelle chose to always start & accommodate players he seemingly has a good relationship with .eg. Moses, Chukwueze.
Lookman should’ve been on the left, he needs space to operate
Obvious errors
NFF also need to carefully look at the referees in our games, the last one didn’t give us a clear penalty won
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:09pm On Mar 28, 2025
the problem is Nigeria is likely to still drop another point.. I have given up even if South Africa gets 3 points deducted. We are not topping the group unless we qualify through the backdoor.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:34pm On Mar 26, 2025
how dem go take penalize them twice? Two yellows one match suspension na..

Nomyth:
In retrospect, the information about the South Africans' yellow card issues came too early. It allowed them not to play the culprit yesterday.

How I wish the information had come out after yesterday's match, South Africa would hv lost six points due to carelessness tongue
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:12pm On Mar 26, 2025
problem is there is no guarantee we no go drop points in the last 4 games
Napoleon55:
For us to still qualify,
SA have to drop 3 or 2 points and 3 points deducted from them while we go on to win our remaining matches including a game against SA scoring many goals as we could, .

As it stands now,SA has superior goals difference of +5 ,against Nigeria +1.

SE need to find a way to utilize their chances, we can't have two best forwards in Africa for nothing.

And some fans especially on this thread should learn to balance the over exaggeration of the present super eagles abilities .
Yes we presently parades 2 back to back Africa's best, both are forwards, but the rest of team is not balanced,no one to even step in for Osimhen.

In the past,I rarely watch super eagles draw at home, losing at home is more like a taboo.

These days our home has become our away or a neutral ground.
These days I watch our dear eagles with my heart on my mouth,or i simply stay out and wait for result and analysis to minimize my disappointment incase.

The irony of it all is that this Chelle can't even win AFCON
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:05pm On Mar 25, 2025
South Africa no go even gree us beat them.. we should just forget it. Chelle should start building for AFCON haha
FiveFootNinja:
I swear. It's actually fúcking sad that we're relying on point deductions from South Africa to keep our WC dream alive.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:04pm On Mar 25, 2025
yes, considering we didn't score early.. We would have saw the game off.

Subzerooo:
There is nothing that Chelle did wrong in this match, you want him to be defending a 1 nil lead against Zimbabwe?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:03pm On Mar 25, 2025
no it's FIFA

Most likely not happening. WC qualifers is a CAF tourney. If that CAF rule is correct, eh don be.

even with the 3 points deduction if SA does not slip, but we beat them away, there is still no guarantee

I wasn't expecting SA to slip to Benin. Maybe the slip I saw had to do with the deduction of 3 points. For now we just have to win even if na 1-0.
