Chelle does not have the best personnel for this formation in the middle. But I expect him to switch things up. I want to see are forwards our once click and combine together. Not too impressed we the passes to the forwards.

No WCQ only
chrisooblog:
Don't yellows count for all compettitive matches (AFCON, WC qualifiers, Friendlies) or it's only WC qualifiers in this instance?

no, according to chatGPT:

No, yellow cards do not have to be consecutive for players to accumulate a suspension in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Here's how it works:

A player can receive yellow cards in different matches over the course of the qualification campaign.

If a player accumulates two yellow cards in separate matches, they will be suspended for the next match. This suspension applies regardless of whether the yellow cards are received consecutively or with other matches in between.
ChrisKels:
I thought yellow cards are cancelled if they were not accumulated consecutively, or am I wrong?

First yellow was on match day1 and he didn't get another yellow on match day 2.

As Iwobi is on a yellow now, if he avoids another yellow against Zimbabwe today, automatically that previous yellow becomes invalid. Isn't that how it is done?

Someone who understands these rules better should look into this please, because we were punished for same reason enroute to 2018 world cup when Rohr fielded Shehu against Algeria in Algiers.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:38pm On Mar 24, 2025
Agreed we need workaholic midfielders for that set up.
Philosopher1979:
We need natural midfielders like ebenezer akinsanmiro, chrisantus uche for this his diamond formation. They should be tried in the friendlies in June.
Akinsanmiro is a rookie but we should see what he does un the friendly. Using chukwueze as a midfielder in a diamond 4 4 2 is not proper. Lts see what akinsanmiro can do. Uche too in midfield. There is also onechhu ogbelu in Tunisia.

We have moved away from overcautiousness and i think its a good thing that Chelle is ready to move players around. We didnt play badly at all, though Osimhen's return was a huge factor in the win

For once I've seen a very good write-up from Solace.
It's clear we do not have the best combination for that diamond structure. I hope we get to sort that out with time.

I like the dynamism. I hope we find our preferred formation though under Chelle.

Trailing the leaders by 2 points will be nice
minfelix:
we need to remain calm…they were very fortunate to unlock Lesotho in the 63rd mins otherwise it was heading for a draw..Lets hope Benin will clip them…a win for Benin puts Nigeria on an 80% chance of 9ja qualifying a draw reduces it to like 70%chance.

1. A win for Benin and Nigeria and draw for Rwanda
Ben 11
SA 10
Nig 9
Rwa 8
Two point trailing the leader

2. A draw for Benin, win for Nigeria and win for Rwa
SA 11
Rwa 10
Nig 9
Ben 9
two points trailing the leaders

3. A draw for Benin, win for Nigeria and draw for Rwa
SA 11
Nig 9
Ben 9
Rwa 8

4. A win for SA, win for 9ja win for Rwa
SA 13
Rwa 10
Nig 9
Ben 8
four points trailing the leader

5. A win for SA, win for 9ja draw for Rwa
SA 13
Nig 9
Ben 8
Rwa 8
four points trailing the leaders

6. A win for Benin, win for rwanda and win for 9ja
Ben 11
SA 10
Rwa 10
Nig 9

so choose the one you want🤣, as we dey look Ben v SA, we should also remember say Rwa dey pursue us sef

I'm afraid SA will beat Benin. But they will slip at some point.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:48am On Mar 22, 2025
Could still be a slim win. We been here before
Sugarboyy:
We are beating Zimbabwe atleast by 3 goals.
One thing about these smaller teams, Nigeria should always try to score them early and they will lose total concentration...they won't know either to attack or to continue playing defensively

the naija boys in that team know what to do lol
as for me i am praying for South Africa to slip once and then lose to us in their back yard. on our part, we just have to win our remaining games

minfelix:

even if we win our next game our position is not gonna change much. we just have to keep grinding to the end. South Africa will try hard to keep winning. if we stay 3 points within reach of them we could finally knick it
solonnachi:
As it stands now

South Africa - 10pts
Benin- 8pts
Rwanda- 7pts
Nigeria - 6pts
Lesotho- 5pts
Zimbabwe- 3pts

Next games
Rwanda v Lesotho
Nigeria v Zimbabwe
Benin v Nigeria

the formation is not everything. it's a matter of how the players execute the plan. if they will be defending as a unit the midfield will get some help when it needs it. But i remain skeptical.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:06pm On Mar 21, 2025
