Agreed but Nwakali has had NOTHING decent.

benji93:
He might have had a decent debut in La liga, but his career over 8 years is at best average. And he doesn't deserve a call up yet, allow him to build up steam. He's shown some promise thus far. I can't believe i am describing someone who has been playing for 8 years as promising. Long overdue.

Oga, nobody needs to get a screen shot to prove anything. Yes, a lot of people hip praises on Nigerian players here but that is normal. If you don't celebrate your own who will?

That is the same way the English Press and their fans hip praises on their own players.

Some of us have some times tried to tone down the praises but you go to extreme to talk down Nigerian players. Are you not the same person that repeatedly called Isaac Success a waste Pipe? Which screen shot do you need for that?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:28pm On Sep 03, 2019
That na youth na. Not top flight football still. He has only done well in Slovakia. At least u can say he was a lion there.

komekn:
I will not agree completely.

First of all Rabui was the stand out youth player in Sporting, was classed as one of the best young players in the world playing regularly at Sporting youth, Nwakali did not have that tag.

Contract greed by his agents prevented him from playing in the first team. Yes they wanted to give him.a new contract with a huge sell out clause, but his career would have progressed.

This was the period of TPI, my view, his agents wanted to cash in as opposed to considering long term career progression. That's where all his problems started.

He then moved to PSV nothing happened from there to Celtic and from there to Kilmarnock. And from there to relative obscurity.

Kelechi didn't get the opportunity to play in Arsenal U23, he was not the stand out player in Arsenal and although we rated him as EXCEPTIONAL TALENT nobody else did in world football apart from the delusional.

He was called to the SE set up on what basishuh He failed in the Eredivisie and got demoted to the Eerste second tier of Dutch football and couldn't get any in ended up in Porto B and still couldn't make any impression.

When a second division club in Spain buys you and immediately sends you to the 3rd tier. It is saying something loud and clear.

Ages and ages ago l questioned his selection multiple times without any coherent answer beyond abuse and HATER. Then his older brother gotta call to the SE who is even more anonymous.

But too many are fanatically nepotistic in thier desire for certain players. The chief among them the is unrepentant TheSuperDelusional one.

Talent is not HIDDEN it's EXPRESSED and if after multiple opportunities over three years without it being expressed. It means you either didn't have any or you have LOST IT.

Finally youth football exploits are not always transferable to first team senior football. So pinning deductions of talent on youth football exploits can be very futile.

I wouldn’t t use the word decent. But his debut season in LaLiga was met with some good reviews. At least that’s SOMETHING in top flight football. And need I add, he deserved to be called up to the SE unlike Nwakali?

benji93:
No, No, No, average at best, which kind decent career. The guy moved back and forth from Almeria B to the first term for 5 years or so. Do you understand what a decent career means?

it's okay guy calm down.. and i'm not being petty.. just giving my opinions. some will agree with you, some will agree with me chekina (or however it's spelled)
good night and rest well grin

TheSuperNerd:
And for the umpteenth time.... the reason for my epistles... I was not making a comparison but a basic analogy of two young lads with similar expectations placed on them when they started off... one in 2009 and the other in 2015 as the next big thing in Nigeria's midfield dept especially as Midfield anchormen/Midfield enforcers.

So far, both have failed to rise to the expectations.... only so far. This is not about who have had the better career because both have had average careers. One have only had it longer than the other who is younger. The comparison is unfair on Nwakali who is only 3 years in compared to Azeez's 8+ yrs of pro football.

This is about both players' failures to rise to expectations. On this, I go with this Ramon-Nwakali analogy especially as it concerns the DLP expectations I had on both.

So you agreeing with him does not change my stance. And it definitely doesn't make his angle right. I also have those who agree with me. So Sorry.

ScoreNigeria reports that Kenneth Omeruo is out of Ukraine friendly.

“It is an important process I need to get done for me to continue to play in the Spanish La Liga and also concentrate more on my game. So, I will miss the match against Ukraine.
“All the same, I wish my team mates the best of luck in the match.”
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie:
haha.. I got you right from the start. Which is why you find that my very first post I implied the Rabiu analogy was a better one.. And of course that's my opinion.
It's up to the others here to choose whichever analogy they prefer.

Modified
And of course no one here will expect you to fancy the Rabiu analogy considering the angle I was giving it -- "NOTHING in top flight football", although you admitted to it being a good analogy as well earlier. Then why will I be uptight? grin

TheSuperNerd:
I used long epistle to help your comprehension as I seem to repeat myself sometimes when conversing with you.

And thank you... I like the Ramon analogy much better. No need getting uptight that I don't fancy the Rabiu angle that much.

Like Ramon (a DLP) for 10 years before his recent huge spark... like K.Nwakali (a DLP) for three years still looking for his first real huge spark . Let time be the judge of them all.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 1:39am On Sep 03, 2019
my opinion is that Rabiu is a better analogy for reasons ive already stated. u dont have to change ur opinion to mine. dont get worked up about it with long epistles.

TheSuperNerd:
I am not talking better or worse analogy. I am talking Analogy. Why trying so hard to bring in comparatives? Ramon serves for me. Don't have to write a whole book of analogies, I just needed one. Ramon has also done Nothing spectacular in Top flight football apart from making appearances. If he did make an impact why did it take him so long to return to La Liga? Why didn't another La Liga team pick him up? Fact is Ramon was not doing anything special.

Even now he needs a strong season to further establish this new found positive vibe around his career. Ramon scored in La Liga... Nwakali scored in the Eredivisie. Ramon suffered a setback and went down from La liga and it's been turpsy turvy from there still he returned with Granada this season.

I wonder why using Ramon as an Analogy is biting you. Ramon is my example... Rabiu is yours. Don't bring your opinion and project is as what I should use. Ramon fits in just fine as much as I think Rabiu also fits in. CHIKENA.

In the end... all three have the same tale.... they all have the tales of struggles to live up to the true hype of their boyhood/cadet years. End of discussion. smiley

In conclusion... Ramon is finding his feet again and I am most excited... after a decade of waiting.

K.Nwakali is next on my patience list.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:52am On Sep 03, 2019
I get the analogy. you simply cannot get my point. And the point is Rabiu is a BETTER analogy. Whereas, Azeez has proved himself in the LaLiga once before now. He deservedly got a call up by Keshi to the SE. Nwakali has done NOTHING in top flight football -- same as Rabiu.

finito!!!

TheSuperNerd:
There is no pie in sight... you simply cannot make a pie. grin

This is no attempt at logic. Both Ramon and Rabiu are good analogies to use as regards K.Nwakali who is far younger than both and still coming up whereas those two have had years to grow and realise their potentials... the analogy is so simple yet you simply cannot see it for reasons best known to you.
All three have similar tales of struggles as regards living up to their boyhood high potentials. Chikena.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:44pm On Sep 02, 2019
take a humble meatpie and put aside the logic. grin
Rabiu is a better analogy.. finito
He is doing it at the Slovakian league again. Wait until he leaves that league again.
He still hasn't made a statement.

TheSuperNerd:
In the end, 'somewhat' is not 'exactly'.... wink
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:54pm On Sep 02, 2019
ehen so it's a good analogy. And that's what I meant. An analogy is somewhat a comparison.

TheSuperNerd:
But comparison is not my goal. I have made that clear. I was drawing a simple analogy to how long it's taking a player of promise to actually realise his potentials as regards some of our golden boys of youth soccer. Ramon had that struggle but is gradually showing real class now... Rabiu had it and still has it.
Although, Rabiu Ibrahim sef dey Europa league now.... lol

Rabiu promised so much despite having no golden ball or individual award in the 2007 U-17s but he hasn't lived up to the billing since then.

But right now he got a chance to perhaps show us something in the Europa.

Kelechi Nwakali is in same boat in that regard... he hasn't made the most of his talents just yet. He needs more than talents. He needs the right mental attitude.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:32pm On Sep 02, 2019
if u looking for a player to compare with K.Nwakali, I would say Rabiu Ibrahim's career grin
TheSuperNerd:
Ramon have been under the radar for most, for a long time now since the 2014 WC. Several even forgot about him or that he played football in Spain. He has shuttled between First, second and Third tiers of Spanish football between 2014 and last season before he returned to La Liga this season.

My point is this... Ramon struggled to rise to any level of prominence but he is hitting the right notes now.

Now let K.Nwakali do the same. It is up to him and I hope he can deliver with this chance given to him.

When he started the season banging goals nobody said that. I remember some said unlike Dennis he is a CF not a winger. The fact is the goals are not coming now. Let’s hope things go back to when he started the season.

zoboizee:
Okereke played mostly as a right winger in Italy and it has affected his style of play in Brugge. He has constantly been drifting ( like Onyekuru in Anderlecht) to the flanks in matches so it is better they have Diagne who will use his physicality to take advantage of the space left in the centre.

That post was just a summary of 10 years of hopes put upon Azeez. Since 2009, I have ben waiting for this version of Azeez I am seeing now. I hope he keeps up the momentum. I can be that patient for a truly talented player.

So don't worry... this is not me being carried away. This is me being excited for Azeez's rejuvenation story.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:02pm On Sep 01, 2019
The season is still VERY young

TheSuperNerd:
Lol.... Make that Forgiveness and me. I have always rated Azeez after his fine U-17 displays back in 2009. I remember his rocket against Korea that had Heung Min Son. Always loved his confidence on the ball in the middle.

He didn't have the sparkling rise other young talents had and really struggled for a while to stay relevant but he battled on nonetheless and I am glad.
He took time to finally settle into his talents and let things flow and I am so so so glad for the lad now. We need this Azeez back in the Super Eagles. His WC outing in 2014 was just a prelude. He looks even more ready now.

Th same way I felt towards Azeez back in 2009 is the same way I feel towards Kelechi Nwakali. Always saw both as answers to The Team's Midfield enforcer/dictator role.
